We are in the same situation. We had three theft attempts last year. Only one resulted in a claim as the cost of repair to damage was over the excess (£1000). All this was before Lexus developed the Protection Plate. We paid to get our protection plate fitted before it was done by Lexus free of charge, had a secondary immobiliser and bollards installed on the drive. Use a steering lock (disclock) both at home and when parking out. We also got the optional extra at the time of buying the car and fitted front and rear dashcams. Despite all our efforts the insurance quote is coming at over £3K! We only do about 2500 miles a year! Live others, we have had LV write to us saying they are unable to insure. Anyone know of an insurer who is prepared to insure taking into account all the additional security measures we have taken?

Good for you that they fitted the plate FOC. May be they charged me because I called the dealer directly

I had the plate fitted last week and the dealer charged £209.04.

Since this post, I have contacted my local dealer and they have offered to fit the plate someone mentioned in the earlier post. At a cost of £209! Not happy about having to pay for this as it is a design issue with Lexus. Fitting the plate of course does not mean the thieves wont damage the car before finding out they cannot easily gain access to the car - probably costing me again! If it is the same thieves at least they won't probably try again. Will contact Lexus to express my displeasure.

We have had our RX damaged thrice since April 2023, despite the usual precautions of DISCLOCK and additional immobiliser! One of the attempted thefts was in broad day light in a station carpark. All these additional measures probably stop the car being driven off, but the damage has still been incurred that costs.
