  1. Hi, yes I did resolve the problem and I put a description of it as a post. Basically you need the Lexus + app on your phone and then link the app to your car. The car and phone recognise each other when you turn on the ignition and the screen disappears. See above.
  2. The article is in the Daily Mail. A shocking increase although the ES was not mentioned specifically, the SUV models are the main targets apparently.
  3. Worried about the crime figures for Lexus, so I had a look at the handbook. Apparently it is possible to turn an electronic key onto “battery saving mode” ie turn it off. If I understand it correctly this should stop crooks from cloning the key remotely. On the key fob press “open” twice whilst simultaneously holding “lock”. The fob flashes four times to confirm it is off. It is turned back on simply by pressing “unlock “. It works on mine.
  4. Indeed - and this is a good thing - but all the more reason to fit heated jets and water bottle one would have thought.
  5. Incidentally, I do think that a car of this quality should have a heated washer bottle and heated jets to avoid this problem. Never in the last thirty years have I experienced this and I’ve had BMW, Saab, Volvo, Vauxhall and Honda - all with heated jets. I really like my new Lexus, it’s brilliantly equipped with every extra, so I am very surprised that they overlooked this basic piece of safety equipment.
  6. You could try Amazon, they have it. I bought mine in Tesco where it appears to be a standard line. Glad my question helped both of us!
  7. Hi Peniole, yes I think you are right. So I half emptied the tank and refilled with Prestone Extreme screenwash. It’s a bit more expensive than the usual supermarket tat but 90 miles in freezing temperatures and no sign of the jets freezing up so it is worth the extra cost. Recommended.
  8. My brand new ES300h Takumi still with the original Lexus screenwash in the tank suffered from freezing washer jets. So I added washer fluid (ready mixed and good for -10 degrees) to see if that resolved the problem but it didn’t. Screen de-icer spray did resolve the problem temporarily but a few miles later the jets froze up again. The outside temperature was only -1 degrees. Has anyone else had this problem and are there any solutions out there?
  9. My ‘23 Es300h Takumi won’t keep some settings when the ignition is turned off. For example I turn off the voice on the navigation system when I drive off. Stop, turn off the ignition (eg for petrol) set off again and voice is back on and needs turning off again. There’s a similar issue with “media” - listen to one thing, turn off the ignition and next time it’s turned on the media source is something different. Has anyone else come across this or is it a quirk of my particular car? Any suggestions?
  10. If you get the Lexus+ app on your iPhone and sign up for the stuff on there - name, email, link to the car and accept the terms of use then I think you should find that the problem largely goes away. You need to wait a moment or two after you turn on the car’s ignition while the car and the phone link up but, when they do, the car recognises your phone and the offending screen doesn’t appear. If you drive away too soon and before the linkup, the screen may appear but it should go away once the car/phone handshake has taken place. I hope this makes sense but Lexus+ app is the key.
  11. Thanks for all the replies. What I did in the end was to delete the Toyota app and ignore the update link on Lexus Link + . Instead I went straight to the Apple App Store, I found LL+ and I simply clicked the “update” on there. That’s updated my LL+ and the Toyota link has now disappeared. LL+ is now working again. I hope that helps others having the same problem as I had.
  12. I went to use the Lexus Link + app yesterday to receive a message that the app needs an update. I clicked the “update” link and it took me to a Toyota app. I tried to register by putting in my registration but it wouldn’t allow me to do so claiming, correctly, that my car is a Lexus. So now I can’t use either app. Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?
  13. Does anyone else get this screen appearing frequently on switch on? It’s a real nuisance because it often appears just after driving off and I have to pull over, select “park” and accept it before driving off again. The QR code only links to the Lexus website btw. I have the new app set up on my iPhone so it’s not that. Ideas on a postcard….
  14. I hesitate to confess to this but I sawed the bottom off my tool tray (which took some courage on an ES Takumi only a fortnight old!). I measured carefully and used a fine-toothed wood saw to do the job. I then tidied up the sawn area with black heavy duty underfloor dust and draught liner sheet (bought for about £3 from B&Q) and carefully fixed in place with black duct tape. It looks very neat and strong. All of the tools still fit perfectly, the boot floor is level and fits as before with the spare wheel in place. From inside the boot it’s not possible to tell that anything has been done but, importantly, I have peace of mind knowing that I don’t have to rely on the hit and miss puncture goo stuff.
  15. My ES took 18 months to arrive (in June 23) and both the list price and interest rate on the finance increased in the meantime. To their credit the dealership honoured the original deal to the letter including the various incentives so, if my experience is typical, you don’t have to worry.
  16. I have done about 500 miles on V Power since posing my question above and I honestly can’t perceive any discernible difference between it and supermarket petrol. Performance is comparable, economy is slightly improved and the car engine is still running quietly and smoothly. I will stick with it for the time being but my impression is that the car feels just the same as the before.
  17. I also have a new ES Takumi and am similarly getting my head around the multimedia system. On mine I have to accept the terms of use of the multimedia system frequently when I start the car. It doesn’t come up every time strangely and despite having accepted it many times it it still keeps appearing. Annoyingly it can be a while appearing and can’t be accepted on the move. One can only accept it by pulling over, stopping and putting the car into “park” so it’s a bit of a pain. Any solutions out there?
  18. Interesting variety of views here! Well, I have just filled up with V-Power and later in the week I have a 500 mile round trip planned so I will see how it performs. If I have any interesting observations to make I will share them on here. In the meantime, many thanks for your comments and advice.
  19. I tend to use supermarket petrol in my ES and, frankly, give it very little thought. But I have been reading about Shell v-Power which apparently cleans the injectors and gives improved performance and economy. What is the experience of members of the LOC in this area please? Is it worth paying the extra?
  20. I have now ripped a lot of CDs onto a 128gb stick. It’s been a long job but I have done it while working so it is only been a minor distraction. Overall it has worked very well. The “hey Lexus” feature allows the music catalogue to be accessed and searched easily and the sound quality on Flac is very good. I am considering buying a cd player that is linked by Bluetooth to the system for occasional use but I think the large capacity stick represents a good compromise. Thanks for your help everyone!
  21. I guess the point is that a casual thief will look and move on to an easier target but I agree that cable cutters would make short work of this. Has anyone come across an alternative which is convenient and effective but which doesn’t damage an attractive but vulnerable interior?
  22. Can anyone advise me as to whether these function effectively on the ES? I want some physical security and these seem to be very practical but I worry a) with the seat and steering wheel moving apart on ignition turn off whether the cable is long enough and b) what effect plugging the strop into the seatbelt socket has - will it turn on the car’s systems? Any advice appreciated!
  23. I tried flac on Dark Side of the Moon and it sounded very good, similar in quality to a cd as far as I can tell. So I think that’s the answer to the lack of cd player conundrum. I’m also considering buying a Bluetooth cd player that links to the car’s Bluetooth system and perhaps this can be used for cds not recorded on the stick - just for occasional use. If that’s a success I will report back on here. Many thanks to those who helped me with this, I really appreciate your support. David
  24. My media player appears to have a default setting of "M4A" but one of the options is "FLAC" so I have used FLAC to try it out on "Dark Side of the Moon". The files are very big - 512mbyte for a 18 track cd so I guess it's favourites on Flac and the others on M4A.
  25. Maurice, do you use the lossless "flac" system?
