  1. Thanks for all the feedback, agreeing with everyone depending on road conditions that for me usually evolve using sport 3+4 for control on hills , twisty bits and around town. As for red lights I will stay in gear , that in my previous elderly Saab 95 was noisy and felt strained ( hence the enquiry ) . Can't remember the last time I was at a level crossing but point taken 😀
  2. Does anyone have any thoughts on using automatic gearbox for engine breaking rather than riding the brakes for going down hills ? Also how long do you sit at red light before going into neutral ? Mainly interested in being kind to the car but if you have any performance related theories ( automatic + and -) , twisty bits or other this could be the place 🤔
  3. Appreciate the advice , caliper service next week. Just 231 k to catch you up 🫡
  4. Thanks for all the input, it was serviced and the discs aren't rusty . It's a regular journey for me that can take between three and a half to five and a half hours . Part of it on the rumble strip we call the M25 , the chances of me hearing or feeling anything on there , in a new car to me are slim 🤔
  5. Test done on 15th with few miles done since then as I'm the new owner ( without toolbox ) and plan to do a 500 mile round trip mostly motorways soon . Should I be stopping and checking how hot the calipers are getting ? Or can I assume the is250 lubed pin issue will have been covered in said MOT ?
  6. Looks mint in the rain ! As do the wheels with slight curbing and yokohama blu earth e51 225/45r17 91w with about 6mm of tread 😀
  7. Thanks Sundance , I've just got it and checked all the mots that range from about 6000 on the first one and between 1000 to 4000 on the others, with just worn tyres as expected 😀 I researched for while and was aware of the pin issues unlike the main dealer from where it originally came from as a one owner , but their mot guy said it was in better condition than some 2 and 3 year olds that he's seen. It has a few minor scratches but oddly lots of smaller ones around all the door handles showing signs of use unlike most of the inside . Not sure if its been garaged , its dark grey that looks like faded black in most light and I've only put 10 miles on it so not had time to check properly. Hope to rectify that today and still in the to good to be true frame of mind !
  8. Was thinking of things that wouldn't be checked in mot or normal service 🤔
