Sorry for the delay, I've been away. I'm having a auto electrical guy coming around tomorrow. The garage gave me his number, it engages with the gear box and I can drive it, it was intermittent at first but now it wont get out of park at all without pressing the override switch. So hopefully It can be resolved tomorrow fingers crossed.

I had have posted this before, my 1999 Lexus had a MOT and had a break light switch replaced . I am experiencing the same problem it wont get out of park, I went back to the garage and they said it might be a gear box problem so they gave me a name of a place to get it tested. I got the car out of the garage and it did take 3 attempts but it finally engaged . So I'm wondering if its the break light switch?

I've just had a break light switch replaced on my Lexus 2 weeks ago , no other problem but now its gone again ? I don't1999 drive very far 64,000 on the clock never any problems at all , 1999 model
