  1. Since i purchased my SC430 in early August i havent seen another on the roads despite often doing 2000 miles per week up and down the country. I saw one  early in the summer parked up with the roof down and that along with seeing the one at the start of the Terminator movie again was enough for us to seek out and purchase.

    What would be the best estimate of SC430's still on UK roads?

    Can anybody point me in the direction of where i can purchase TOYOTA PART NUMBER: 17320 0A010 Air Intake Control Valve No 2 for my 430? ive got slightly poor idling along with the codes that suggest lean on both banks. ive replaced the MAF but no joy so want to eliminetate the Air Intake Control Valve next.   3. That's terrible news. I was looking to make a post wondering just how good the immobiliser is and how secure a stock SC430 is? i guess i have my answer. I would be happy to help keep a look out. I live in the Midlands and do 1,500 business miles per week up and down the UK (not in the 430). Since we purchased ours in early August i havent seen another 430 on the road anywhere. I was wondering how many are left on UK roads, i guess like mine it spends most of its life parked up in my garage?

  4. Hi, Ive just had a new key cut and programmed. This fob has 3 buttons and one is for the boot which i have now found opens the boot if i hold the boot release button in for a few seconds.

    My question is should the boot pop open and rise under its own steam? the gas struts seam fine once you start manually lifting the boot lid and the boot does stay up and in place.

  5. Hi at some point in the past the loom covers have been taken off in the engine bay and what i think should be plastic type push clips have been lost or broken. Please see below photo and red high light area. Does anybody have any idea where i could obtain replacements please? Have a great day

    Given that both banks are affected it is likely to be an air leak in the intake somewhere after the MAF sensor (e.g. a vacuum pipe) or the MAF sensor itself (did they try and clean the MAF)? The other possibility would be leak in the exhaust but where the two banks join in the middle of the floor is probably too far away from the O2 sensors for them both to be triggered.

    Hi many thanks for your reply @ColinBarber i checked to see if the air filter has actually been replaced and it has. Ive since run the car and it now seems to be almost perfectly smooth on tick over? maybe it wasnt quite seated right? could i be that lucky? ive only give it one run and no ECL yet but i expect that will come on at second start up tomorrow?

    I will keep updating till cured and then find something else to fiddle with and ask daft questions

  7. Hi ive just done a scan on my 95 SC430 to see why i have the ECL displaying. The scan reports two codes which are:

    P0171- System to lean bank 1

    P0174 - System to lean bank 2

    the ECL only came on after an Independent services the car. Thinking it may be air intake related (as its both banks) ive checked to see if the air filter was replaced (and properly) it was and all appears to be well.

    Is it possible that the engine and system needs time to adjust to the new clean air filter?

    Also the last owner used Premium Fuel where i use regular unleaded EN10, could the change of fuel have an affect?

  8. Hi Guys, im really enjoying the forum for the SC. I am a new owner but not new to Lexus. Im loving my 2005 SC430. I have a couple of questions if i may.

    1. The car was recently serviced by an independent non Lexus specialist (the last owner had this done). The CEL is on since the service and Battery disconnect switches it off but it returns after two start up cycles. The engine runs lovely and performs better than expected but does seem to hunt a little at tick over which eventually seems to clear when warm. Ive ordered a code reader so will check it out but im suspecting something to do with air sensor? Anything worth checking? The fuel cap has a small split in the seal is this likely to cause the CEL?

    2. The front cup holder sticks down when closed and has to be prised open, it works ok when opened. Is this common and fixable.

    3. The drivers door pops and cracks when opened is this a common?

    4. I only have one key and finding a spare to be cut and programmed is proving difficult. The key i have only has 2 buttons (open and close) and no boot release. Im sure its non OEM. If i get a 3 button version programmed would that allow me to open the boot as well?
