  1. I hadn't undone the two 14/15mm bolts holding the two parts of the caliper together. All finished now and will be easy if I ever need to do it again. Cheers.
  2. I took the job on myself as all reports on here said how easy it is. Did the other rear today in just over 1/2 an hour and that was only because of seized parts. just got one of the front calipers off - see what you mean about those bolts they are tight! Disc is weged firmly in the caliper though so will now trawl through old threads until I find out whether or not to undo any more bolts.
  3. give her mine ← Sorry guys I took over the conversation quite early on so for most of it you were talking to a bloke! LOL Seriously, got one side done now, had a problem with the pistons goinf back in (when I pushed one side the other came out). Undid the bleed screw, and pistons went in fine. Will do the other side and the fronts tomorrow, you wouldn't believe this but the pads were worn down to absolutely nowt not a single scrap of friction material in evidence hence the need for the new discs. Don't theses cars have sensors to worn you of this type of thing? Cheers for the help by the way Gord, don't know what that guide was referring to earlier - 11 oclock or 2 oclock indeed!!! PMSL ← Your welcome mate or matess only the fronts have sensors in the pads, as you will find out :D if you need any help help give me a call :D ps take the cap off the brake fluid, under the bonet, the pistons will go in then, no need to undo the bleed screw :D ← Are the fornts easier - any tips before I start? ← Yes front easier, you wont need any tips now :D ← Hey, many thanks for all of your help today. Still should have paid somebody though istead of being such a tight-arse. LOL

  6. Nothing at 6 o'clock Gord(on?) only a long horizontal spring. This is a real pain in the a*** now. When I try and pull the disc you can see the inner shoes coming with it. Might have to concede and pay somebody to it. ← YOU HAVE PM MATE ← Thanks for the PM but you were right, at about 5:30 ish I found the small adjuster screw you were referring to and voila the disc was off. Now how on earth do you remove the cotter pin running through the caliper, shims and pads. to say it's seized would be an understatement! Any tips (I've alreday soaked it in WD40).

  8. The hole is very small and to be honest there isn't much to see. You can get a screw driver in but there is nothing to turn - does anybody know how to operate the adjustor??? ← OK, so I've backed the handbrake cable off at the handbrake itself but has made no difference. I am right in thinking that once the two 17mm caliper bolts have been removed and the caliper pulled away the disc should just come off? This is driving me mad! Any advice will be appreciated!!!!!!

  10. Turn what? There's nothing to see at 2 o'clock and nothing turnable at 11 o'clock either. Does he just waggle a scewdriver around?
  11. Hope somebody can help me. My husband is outside trying to take off the rear discs from my IS. He's pulled out the rubber plug but doesn't how to adjust the handrake tension to release the shoes currently holding the disc in place. can anybody explain exactly what needs to be done. Thanks.
  12. Hope somebody can help me. Fitted a bee-sting aerial to my IS200 and promptly forgot, remembering only when halfway through the local carwash - ouch!!! The aerial is now bent and beyond repair but worst of all the plastic housing has been shattered. The aerial being held inplace by a single black wire and a rake of insulation tape. Kind of spoils the look of the car somewhat!!! Just had the old ERR3 message on the radio but thanks to this forum I contacted Lexus Manchester and they couldn't have been more helpful in ordering a new head unit. At the same time I enquired about the cost of a new antenna housing - £130 and that for the parts only!!!! What options do I have? How do I get the current housing off and would one of those fin type antennas work? If anybody can help I would appreciate it.
