Absolutely absurd. Save your money and enjoy the car. Warranty should fix your issues if they are faults. The dealer will make at least 10k on re-selling it to another sucker!

I think your right, Still trying to work through the issues with the dealer but it seems I have no choice but to keep it, the loss is far too much to comfortable with it.

I know that the UX is a reasonably good car and if we can get all these faults sorted out it will be ok, It has just lost it's shine for me now and feel good factor is long gone.

Its not definite of course, it could be different situation but as soon as you drove your new car out of the dealership its value drops, its a business of course they have to get the most money from your car if they sell it again.

Of course, it's just the level of depreciation that's the issue, £25k in 4 months seems extremely harsh, does it not.

i have just been on there and as you say, you need photo's to continue, shame you can't get a price subject to pictures.

Got it wrong, you can get a quote without pictures, The figure they suggest is £29,682, so a lot better than the dealer to say the least, I'm not sure it's enough, I think we would be happy getting the 34/5 mark, we will just have to see, that would leave a balance of !5k to change to the LBX.

I tried motorway.com and they were very straightforward. Had to take a lot of photos and proof of servicing but that's a reasonable thing to ask. Worth a try. I did not sell my car to them in the end but they were very polite about it.

That site is very bad for quotes, so would never go down that route. Motorway .com appear to be the best

To be honest I'm not sure which company is in supermarket car park, I was just told about it but will get a price from them anyway. Looking at this situation it seems very short sighted within the motor trade to do this as once bitten you would never buy new again and just go for a nearly new so long term, they will loose out just as much but it seems everyone is just after the quick buck!

I recall the conversation and whilst I don't want to drag-up the issue I just want to agree with your comment and reiterate that sometimes saying nothing is the best thing to do. I follow a site on FB for people that have old houses and the amount of facetious and pointless responses sometimes drowns-out the genuine helpers. I don't have an old house but I am a competent DIY'er and will only contribute practical advise when on solid ground. I certainly don't offer a negative dislike to some of the many decorating/tiling images - what good would that do?

Unfortunately we have to take the good with the bad, but sometimes it spoils what should be a positive experience at the expense of the witless, time to move on i think.

Anyway, getting back to valuations and mine was for our 4 month old car was £23k, so a loss of 25 grand, It's just ridiculous, on that basis I will wait six months and buy a second hand LBX for virtually nothing!

I made some remarks about the UX and got shot down in flames on this forum site. I still have the same opinion - having driven one for two days - but I am keeping shtum now for fear of reprisals.😬🙊

I absolutely agree but you find idiots on every forum to some extent and just take their mindless comments with the distaste they deserve and move on to those who can be constructive.

They do have great coffee I must say. To be honest (and in a non sexist tone) the reception staff used to be very 'photogenic' in light blue blouses and what I can only describe as 'Jodhpurs' but like most places the uniform standard has disappeared and it's more of a 'come-as-you-are' event!

Charles, I want to come to your dealer lol but on that, the receptionist (not just) has been at my dealer for the 15 years plus years that we have been going there, the most polite and sociable person you cold find, very knowledgeable and always comes back to you with an answer, ten out of ten for her.

I would think its half the price of what you paid for. But depends on your dealer and your relationship with them, as they would always value your car from the lowest to their mid range values.  If you have been with them for a while and you service the car then most probably you get a good deal but would always get a third party to value your car first rather than the dealer atleast you will have an estimate

This is our 3rd Lexus and always get them serviced at the dealership, Interesting you reckon a 50% loss in 4 months, so that would equate a £24k loss, so a £6000 pound loss for each month?

That's terrible, my pervious car was a Mazda cx3 £20'000 paid and got back £16'000 after 3 years. i didn't realise just how bad EV's and hybrids were when it comes to losing so much money in such a short space of time

my friend's Audi cost £80'000 now at 2 years old £35'000

Wow, a 45 grand hit, absolutely shocking, that's not bad on your Mazda  I must say, our Volvo was a loss of 10 grand over 3 years and was very happy with that.

  11. We had an e-mail from our local deal asking if we were interested in a closer look at the new LBX that was due to arrive at the end of January and as we have have so many problems with our car, we were very interested. so I had arranged to go over prior to the arrival of the LBX to get a part exchange valuation on our car which was 4 months old and top of the range (UX F Sport Takumi in Blazing Carnelian Orange) Ho much do you think our UX is worth now?

I will let those ponder on this, and very interested to know how much you may think it's worth.

I think most new cars are delivered with tyres pumped to a higher than normal pressure. Possibly to minimise flat spots on tyres if the car is stored for long periods. However, tyre pressures should be set correctly as part of pre-delivery inspection.

    You might think so!

Hi all, playing about with all the settings today on my UX Takumi, came across the tyre pressure monitor readings, all read 2.7 Bar apart from one one which was 2.6.

Then decided to check what they were supposed to be, plate inside the door frame said 2.3 Bar.

Double checking in manual (not an easy thing, the 'contents' section is far from comprehensive) it too said 2.3 Bar, my tyres are the 18" run flat ones.

Now all this doesn't actually surprise me, my previous car, a Kia Niro, always had its tyres inflated well over the official pressure, why do this, it's as if they just have a 'err on the high' side default figure rather than looking up all the combination of models and tyre options. I will give it a try on 2.3 Bar to see what it does to the ride when Iv'e got time to faff about with resetting the monitors, not a simple just press a button job reading the manual.

Anyone else found this issue of dealer set pressures.

I also noticed that just one set of pressures were quoted, my previous cars gave different figures for different loads.

    Bill D.

I agree Bill, all the cars we have had over the years have had different load spec for one passenger, full occupancy and loaded and some with high speed driving, so this is new! also I have just written of my experience with my tyre pressures below!

My car is now coming up to three moths old and the tyre warning light has always been on even though it has spent around 6 weeks in the dealers, I decided to check it out even though I'm pretty certain that it's an electrical fault, the dash just shows as blank where the tyre pressures should be.

I decided to get out there on my knees and physically check the pressures: front o/s/f 46 psi -3,2 bar, n/s/f 38psi - 2.6 bar, rear o/s/f 32psi - 2.2 bar, n/s/r 34 psi - 3.3 bar, they are now 34 psi - 2.3 bar all round, i have re-set the dash and awaiting to see if I get a correct display and the warning light goes out.

My thoughts turn to Lexus yet again for not bothering to check the pressures at all. The car drove reasonably straight with a very slight pull to the left but camber could be the cause on that but a very firm ride, which I assume was due to the run flats of which I'm not a big fan of, anyway, I can't wait to check it out tomorrow after a drive out to see if it has re-set and the tyre pressures are displayed and the light is out..

Two months in with my UX, I am slightly surprised there is no physical button to turn the air conditioning on and off.  Most of the time I like the climate control on, to provide heating and ventilation, but the air con off unless it is hot weather or I need a lot of demisting.  Partly because the aircon dries out my eyes, and partly because I always believed aircon increased fuel consumption.

To turn it on or off I have to use the touchscreen - Car - Climate - AirCon which is three presses on the touchscreen and I find it distracting to do when driving.  I have tried using voice control - 'Turn off air conditioning' but this seems to shut down the whole ventilation system.

    Am I missing something?

Harking back to my old IS200, it had the aircon button prominently on the top of the dashboard together with recirculation and heated rear window.

I don't think your missing anything at all, it was one of the first things in noticed, i would much rather have the window or sunroof open unless, as you say it's very hot day, It seems that Lexus has decided for us on this issue.

Have got a StopLock Pro Elite steering wheel lock which, like the Disclock, provides a visible deterrent. The main problem is remembering to fit it. The DiscLock might be a little clumsy but you need to ensure it fits over the lump in the centre of the UX's steering wheel.

Alternatively maybe plates can be fitted under the wheel arches or aftermarket Canbus immobilisers are available for c£500 eg Ghost and Starline.

    Hi Roger

Thanks for the info, I had a StopLock back in the 80s and as you say, a good visual deterrent and a third of the price of a Disclock, so that may be the way to go for now.

The main Lexus master tec is Tim, based at Gatwick, and would be prudent to discuss your concerns with him

Tim will be able to advise you 100%, so you will know without doubt what is wrong and how to proceed

Thanks, I personally think it's connected to the burning smell although we have had no smells since getting it back but maybe it's burnt it self out, the Lexus dealer cold not find any evidence of any damage! we are away on another holiday Saturday, when we get back i will give Tim a call and maybe have a trip over there. Since Sunday the only problem is the radio cutting all the other main stuff has not happened,
