  1. Just a quick note to say what a top bloke Dr Bones    :P (wheels in motion) is and how important it is to check the suspension geometry.

Tony adjusted mine about two thousand miles ago and said to come back for a free recheck/fine tuning for FREE.

Went to Watford yesterday and the settings were a little out (Tony said the car had hit a pot hole). He also assessed the tyre wear and advised to up the pressures to 35 all round.

It is a small price to pay for the savings you will get on tyre wear.

Thanks for that reply, there was nothing to correct other than the osf "toe" seemingly when the car was in the body shop there was an "event" but overall smart car no wear... :D

Yes, sorry Tony should have explained things a little better.

  3. I had the geometry set up on my modified Avensis today at STS Watford - by Tony (wheels-inmotion.co.uk).

I like many previous LOC members can again vouch that it was a thoroughly professional job done by Tony and his helpers – he’s been there 23 years, you’d think he’d know what he was doing

The front caster bolts were a bit of a job to get loose, and there was hardly any adjustment in the end. So Tony’s going to try and get some caster bolts, to allow further adjustment.

In the end, I spent around 3 hours there, right by the car. He explained each step and what the figures meant, so even the dummies like me could comprehend  .

While there, I mentioned about the steering wobble I was getting at around 55-60mph. Tony kindly checked the balancing for on four wheels, and guess what, they were out (some quite considerably  ). Whilst doing this, his helper Barry noticed a small nail in the tyre, which was removed and filled with “special stuff” before any further damage could occur. The charge for all this extra work?? Nil, Zip.. Nothing

What can you say to that, you just cannot get that service these days.

He’s passionate about what he does and it shows through in his work and the pride he takes in it. Take for example, the correspondence and calculations for geometry. This was all done out of working hours in his own spare time.

I wasn’t local to him; in fact it was a 3 hour round trip in all. But you know what, that doesn’t matter one bit, because I left there one very happy and satisfied customer. I can’t tell you the last time I felt like that. Consequently, the IS is booked in for Saturday.

If you want to get it done right, you shouldn’t look anywhere else – regardless of distance. If you do, you’ll be opting for second best and wasting your time and money!

I know where I, my family and friends will be taking our custom.

Thanks again for the top job Tony…. you’re a top man! :winky:

Couldn't agree more. He is a top bloke.

  4. Get it replaced at dealers if your still under warrenty ;)

unfortunately that ran out in December! only started this month misting

assuming there is no crack or hole in the glass the most likely cause is the seal that bonds the glass to the unit is incomplete and allowing moist air in, also check where the bulb fitment enters the light (these are standard lights, right?) there should be a rubber grommet there is this fitting ok? there is a post on the forum explaining how to dismantle the headlights and remove and refit the glass, i can't remember where though.

Probably best getting a new head lamp. will try on e-bay

I had the same problem, car was three years old and the dealer changed it for free. :D

  5. wait see what friend says, hopefully only needs a little bit of a respray, dont want to use insurance.

I had the same problem on the left hand front wing (51 plate) Lexus had it for repair on Monday and it wasn't sorted to my satisfaction. Going back to the bodyshop again on the 21st. aaaarrrrr

    :tsktsk:

  6. He will be along later

he will be a long what exactly? :P

check out this thread mate, and pm wheels-in-motion, thats tony.

Went to see Tony on Friday. What a transformation, I can see why he is highly recommended. :D

Just set the geometry correctly (which the Lexus Dealer seemed incapable to do!)

  7. Just wondering if anyone has come across a 200 SE Wandering and pulling over an uneven road surface? The car (a 51 plate) has been back the dealer twice now (they did a four wheel alighnment) and is going back again on Thursday!

If the alighnment and bushes/ ball joints ore ok the only thing I could put it down to is the Avon Tyres which appear to have a very "square" side wall. Any help would be appreciated.
