This kit sticks over the existing wood trims with double sided foam. It only fits the mk1 is250 sel with heated seats, otherwise you will have holes. It also need black tape stuck around the edges to hide the wood trim.

While removing it I have caused a couple of minor cracks in the edges which cannot be seen when its fitted.

If anyone is interested I can send photos etc.

I purchased this from member mr singh, this was the advert:-

I have for sale a LSP Carbon Fibre interior kit.

This is for the Right Hand Drive, there very very hard to get hold of, rare as rocking horse poop!

    - Black fine woven carbon fibre

    - Right Hand Drive

    - Vented Seats

    - Auto Only

    - 3M Tape Preinstalled for DIY installation

    - Black Vinyl Tape For Covering Excess areas

Production of these have STOPPED for the RHD, i know because i am friends with the actual manufactuer of these... I was going to offer these to LOC members but i've not got the time.

There was an IS1K version which i can get but only 10 black sets were made and sold to Carsons in the US.

  2. Its time to say goodbye to my 2008 IS250 SE-L Multi Media.

Before saying goodbye I will be removing my additions which are

All items above are now sold.

  3. Here's the whining noise

Looking at the engine, its either inside or off the accessory belt drive, Ive turned of the aircon, so it should not be that, the only other items are the alternator, water pump and idle pulleys.

Have you had this noise? What was it?

Also cleaned the car, managed to polish out the scratches.

Any ideas how to get rid of the disgusting blackcurrent smell the dealers cleaners have sprayed inside, my car now smells like its ready to be used by avis as a rental car.

  4. Well Lexus Sheffield had the car for 2 weeks, to look at the engine noise, rear bumper (Paint scratched due to gap clearance) and damaged paint on my alloys done during services.

They painted the bumper, didnt bother with the wheels and replaced the block and pistons because some of the cylinders had worn oval causing the piston slap on a 52K car. The this noise has been cured. However since the work has been done it has developed a whine (like power steering noise). They had the car back for another week to repaint the wheels and look at the noise. The noise is still evident and I've collected yet more scratches to the paint work. I will be recording the whining noise and placing it on here as soon as I have washed the car and checked out the job on the alloys etc.

I thought Lexus/toyota were supposed to be reliable!

  5. It sounds worse because of the location of the microphone, initally. As I reverse the car out of the garage(you can hear the parking sensors beeping) the noise is like having the window open.

The tappet noise while accelerating (starts around 1:05 mins into the recording)can be clearly heard in the cabin, although the injector noise seems to be damped out by the cars noise insulation.

Any techs or engine experts comments are welcome.

  6. Had the car into Lexus Sheffield a few months ago, heard nothing back from them apart from it sounded normal. I even managed to get one of their loaners to produce the noise all be it a lot quieter. After extensive research it looks like piston slap. I will be having the 50K service soon and the noise is getting worse, you can now hear the piston slap after a 90 mile trip on the motorway, so I clearly have a wear issue. Not sure how to proceed on this one.

I have cobbled together an underbonnet microphone today and will be recording the noise my car makes when cold driving away from rest. I will post it here as soon as I get a decent recording and work out how to post it.

Anyone from Lexus GB please PM me about how to proceed. Ive had this car from new 1/1/08

  7. Does anyone have the paint code for the off silver/blackish paint on Genuine Lexus Hoshi alloys.

My theory is its white primer, then painted black, then painted sparingly silver to give this effect.

I had a scratched alloy ( marked around the wheel nuts, on its last service) touched up/ painted at the dealers and they have made a poor job, also the alloy does no match the others on the car. It looks like they have just sprayed it silver and not put the back undercoat on.

Do these alloys suffer from corrosion, if so then this could be a solution.

Anyone else had problems with the paint on their IS250, even the lightest touch causes scratches. My two year old ran down the side of car and managed to scratch it with just his finger nails. Ive also found what looks like water marks in the paint on the bonnet which will not polish out.

I have also noticed the paint around the boot lid is scratched like its rubbing on the bumper.

Take it back, yes. But every time it goes to the dealers I find new scratches on it and it cost £10 in fuel for the round trip.

Anyone else had these issues? Its nice to be forearmed, prior to the dealer viist.

  8. Yes, I have it.

it looks ok however it will take a few hours of filing to make it look better, the shifter plate is a poor fit and the drinks holder cover needs a little work.

As I will have to removed the shifter plate I can now see what would be involved in getting the IS F bits to fit.

I will have to try the online parts cartalogue get the part no's and make enquires.

  9. Had this issue last week, the main reason I noticed was the lack of air through the foot or air vents it was as if the selection had jammed on the windscreen setting. Also when you switched off you can hear the motors/servos driving/hunting trying to return to a position but not achieving it.

Not being able to take to the dealers and scared that a my satnav overide box had jammed in the mechanism I carefully removed the glove box etc to access the left side of the heater/aircon unit (which was the side the sound was comming from). After putting the unit into diagnostic mode.

    Diagnostic mode.

Hode down the auto and r/f (recircirc/fresh) buttons together while putting the car in ignitio mode, all the lights on this panel should flash together 4 times. After the 4 times press the r/f switch and the unit should cycle through it modes. if you detect no change, mine was stuck on the screen defoggers then its a problem with the upper servo. Press the aircon off switch to get out of this mode.

Being of the adventurous disposition I removed the servo and checked its operation. I did take loads of photo's and marked the various gears and lever positions then jammed loads of bluetac in to keep this in position while I removed the plate holding the two servos.

What I found was the air selection servo main drive gear had was a few teeth out of sync and the levers driven off the second gear had jammed/jumped

    .

Some 5 hours of head scratching and looking on the online workshop manual( which was no help) I worked out which position the levers had to be in and refitted the holding plate, without the servo so I could manually turn the gears to check the operation order. Once happy all was well I refitted the servos, reconnected the wiring and plugged in the AC controller. After removing the bluetac I did the above test and it worked also the flashing orange front screen light stopped and went into its normal green selection.

1 week later its still good. Do not try this at home, but could help point the dealers in the right direction when you take the car in.

  10. Any news on this problem, mine sounds like a diesel until it warms up. Had it serviced and the dealer said they couldn't reproduce the problem. When I started up and drove away it sounded twice as bad as the is250 loan car. When I got home I dug out a long screwdriver and removed the top engine cover. The noise is the loudest around the rear left quarter of the engine and I believe it to be the mechanical fuel pump on the engine, driven off the left most cam. Could it be the fuel pump?? can the clearance between the cam and fuel pump be tightened up?

My symptoms are a tappet type noise worse under light acceleration until the engine is up to operating temperature.
