  1. So what sort of deal you get on the Audi ??... I was out in my neighbours A6...2.0TDi S-line, very impressive, 3.0TDi must be even nicer... really impressed with space inside, he's 6'5" and still space behind him.

    Fergy

Basically have bought a new car for the same discount as a large fleet buyer would get. In my case for the A6 this turned out to be 9% discount. However I have learnt that the rate is variable depending on what fleet discount the potential purchaser is elligable for. This varies from anything from 4% up to the maximum 9% in an A6 model. For me I quialified for the full 9%. If purchasing an A8 i would have been eligable for a 20% discount, an A3 or A4 would have been a maximum of maybe 5% I think.

I have also managed to wangle a Ltd edition model due to various reasons that were outside of my control, but ultimately worked in my favour so I am very pleased as I am told Ltd editions do NOT come with discount ever, but I genuinely fell into an unusual bracket due to the timing of the order and other factors.

I have essentially an S-Line model coming which is fully loaded. The car pulls extremely well and the tiptronic gearbox is noticably smoother to that of the RX (at least on the car I drove). The handling is fantastic, its well engineered for safety and has what I believe to be more space in the back than the Rx, although the layout is a little different.

To be honest I have always been a big Audi fan, and traded a TT against the Lexus when I bought it. I have been very pleased with the Rx however and and am not selling it on for any other reason than I have an offer on a truly great car that I cannot refuse.

More to the point, time is running out for anyone who is looking for a great RX300. Currently on Auto trader for £22,500 which makes it the best buy against everything else it's listed with, so if anyone is tempted this is a too good an opportunity to miss. I am also open to offers in this range.

    But Hurry

    Regards

RxMike :winky: :winky: Hi Mike enjoy your new car.

  2. Hi

We're considering buying a second hand RX300 - I believe it's series II - for about 45000CHF which is 19,663.94 UK Sterling. Does that sound about right for a three year old car? Would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks a lot

    Claire

Hi Clare, i sold a Silver RX 300 SE with sat nav 2000 miles on clock, 10 months old, cost £37k Dealer would only give me £26k because i presume the car had become obsolete as they had bought out a bigger engine!!!!!!!!!!!! i had previoslly bought 6 Lexus cars from new since 1999. Don't get me wrong lovely cars, but don't expect them to hold value because they wont. 2 or 3 years ago they were the car to have, dealers could not do enough for you, now they are just like German cars and customers get treated like Mecedes and BMW owners, not very good. Anyway don't let me put you off because as i say they are good cars. Rant over.

Any comments on that Lexus owners?

  4. Hi

I went to the Cardiff dealership today, they told me that new orders are now being taken for the 350, approx £1800 price increase over the 300. No limited edition will be available. Delivery date was April 18th

: :duh: That £1800 increase, does it include what you get now on the SE. ie Adaptive front headlights, dodgy gear box, no i-pod connection, no smart key entry, less than 20mpg, will it also become obsolete in 3 years like the 300.

  5. So my car is going to be one year old in March and was wondering what (roughly) I can expect to pay for the annual service... Anyone give me a ball park figure prior to phoning the dealer (so I know if they're taking the pi$$) ?

Also..anyone have a breakdown of the bill....specifically interested on how much they charge for the oil and whether it is worth supplying my own...

Finnaly, anyone know how much oil a RX300 takes ? And what grade is recommended ?

    So many questions today....

Hi Fergy, From memory my last RX300 1st sevice was about £120, i suppose it depends on milage ect mine was only about 3000 miles, my present Rx300 is due in May for its 1st service with a few more miles on the clock so it could be a bit more, let me know how you get on. Baz

  6. Hi there, well just over 6 months into my RX400h ownership and I was wondering what other owners thought of their purchase. Would you buy another one?

For me I'm very happy with mine, just a couple of niggles - the seatbelt buzzer drives me mad and not being able to enter destinations in the Sat Nav while moving (I know I'm not on my own on these two points!)

I suppose that's not bad if that's the only thing wrong with it. Would I buy another...? Well only time will tell but at the moment the answer would be yes.

    What about everyone else?

Would have to think twice after hearing the RX300 is now obsolete after 3 years, how long before they change the Rx400? Fantastic cars though.

  7. I just use a permanent pen to mark the CD's and so far no issue.. hard/ impossible to tell at what point CD-R's become good enough to use.

Maybe on the RX350 they'll sort it so it will take an input from an iPOD etc...and then no need of CD's at all. Also hoping they dump the cassette deck part, not used a cassette in the last 3 cars I've had.

 No i pod connection on the RX 350

  8. These sound pretty reasonable. All you would have to do would be to buy a dvd and have them connected.

Should easily get that done for around £100

    Monitors

Cool thanks. Does this affect the Lexus warranty in any way? Isn't it best to get these kind of things fitted at an authorized dealer? (do you know any?)

    Thanks,

    Sami

Hi Sami, i got one from Toys Are Us a few months ago for about £350 you get 2x screens that fit around the back of the headrests, DVD player, car power lead, mains power lead, remote control, sound through there own speakers but easy to play through car speakers, excellent quality pictures all in all a really good buy. I believe wooleys are selling them as well. Baz.

  9. Hi Bart et al,

Click here for a tasty 'mota' :D :

    http://www.cwwcardesign.com/cars/pics/mbml63amg.jpg

It may only do 15 mpg and it ain't gonna save the planet but it sure will thrash the 400h.

    Come on Lexus, compete?

This one's for John :winky: .  At least it's a piccie of a car!

    Cheers,

Dieter (still waiting for black ML 320CDi Sport (which has been delayed till Feb) so I might as well keep pestering you lot :winky: )

:D Hold me hands up Dieter nice looking car, is that the car your waiting on. Baz.

  10. And in the top gear results just out the M-class came a great 155th out of 159...wow...just makes you want to rush out and buy an M-class....NOT !!!! Let's face it they can only get better in the new model, and that will only be seen over time.

    And where did the RX300 come... 3rd overall...and 1st in class !!!

Ok....getting a wee bit smug now...

 Dieter's :P gone a :) bit :duh: quite. RX owner and really pleased :winky:

  11. Hi Fergy, i think you will find only one light turns on corners so as not to blind on coming vehicles, thats what my local Lexus dealer told me. Also if you drive abroad you have to switch the facillite off.

    Bartier,

to take you off on a tangent what exactly do you need to do with the adaptive lights when going abroad? Is it possible to fit the headlight beam reflectors yourself/do they work? I seem to get conflicting advice. Any suggestions welcome!

Just above the petrol cap release is a black button just push it and it's sorted, no more adaptive lights. Don't know about headlight beam reflectors though. :P

  12. Last week I sold my RX300-SE for £23.500. Traded it in & have gone back to RAV4 XT4. My wife & I could not get on with the Lexus we only had it for 5 months. The foot /hand brake really got on my nerves I`m 6ft 4" & it was a real pain using that brake. Lots of other niggly things that I won`t go onto.

    We are happy Ravers again

    Regards to all ;)

Hi Alex, sorry to hear you could not get on with your Lexus, on the footbrake issue i never use it as the car is an automatic, i was told this on a Porche Cayenne day out by an advanced driver that there was no point as the wheels are locked when the car is in park, so it's not an issue with me. Be interested to know what else you did'nt like though, anyway good luck with your new car hope you enjoy it.

  13. Hello everyone with the Lurch!

LGB had my wifes car for two days last week and say that they were successful in programming a new ECU which quote "I can confirm that having tested the effectiveness of the proposed counter measure “ecu” the survey team concluded that it successfully reduced the level of the symptoms to an acceptable level."

So the good news is that they are on track with the fix to this irritating issue.

I have now sent the list of all those who agreed to be added to it for LGB to contact us direct in the hope that we may be BETA testing the new ECU before it goes live in Mach/April next year.

I have asked for a meeting with the head of Customer Relations or with the MD Steve Settle, to talk about where we go from here and how we can all help in testing the ECU for real in everyday usage.

I'll let you all know what happens from here on in.

Kindest regards to everyone and thanks again or all the support.

    Michael.

PS. While my wife's car was being tested, we were lent an RX400h and have to say it is rather fun when you get to use it properly for a couple of days. It feels a bit heavy on the steering and the roadholding is a little vague compared with the SEL air suspension but overall its a car that I really liked. The top end torque is first class and it really does pull very well from 68-??? mph.

 My eldest son saw it and promptly borrowed it from Lexus Southampton for two days and is now thinking hard of ordering one......should I be on commission?

    You certaintly should Michael.

    Baz

  14. :P Hi Peeps, when i enquired about the the RX400H my dealer suggested that the amount of miles i do a year it would not be worth me buying one as i would never get my money back, although i think the technolegy is fantanstic and it does seem the way forward. One thing i would like to add is why Dieter is commenting on a Lexus site, surely he should be passing his comments on the M.B site, or is he a secret Lexus admirer who bought the wrong car! over to you Dietmer.
