  1. Well...

My car, Lexus IS200 SportCross -05, will be six months old next month and it has MORE stone chips than my previous car, a BMW 3-serie E46 -99.

My Lexus dealer nearly told me to p-ss off when I told him I wanted it fixed under warranty.

Unfortunately here in Sweden many Lexus-dealers are mainly Toyota-dealers since Lexus is a very small brand here. I have heard that customer service is much better at dealers only selling Lexus.

I hope you have more luck than I had!

When you say it has 3 years to run ... how old is the car .... as standard warranty is only 3 years?

Opps! I have had it from new, soz about 2 1/2 years left now; I only keep a car for 3 years & will change it when it runs out or when the IS350 arrives.

  2. How is your "lock all doors"-button working?

If I press the lock all doors-button all doors lock and the lock-indicator on each door shows the doors are locked! Now the thing is even though the lock-indicator on the driver door shows that the door is locked the door can still be opened from the outside!

Can you guys try this on your IS200, please?

I thought the "lock all doors"-functions was meant for having the car locked when being in the car and stopping at red lights and not having to worry for thiefs!

  3. Sorry to hear about your problems, I do hope you´ll get the car fixed soon!

My Lexus is now 4 months old and I have had MORE problems with this Lexus than on any other of my previous cars! I have owned 8 Jaguars, 4 BMWs and some Swedish cars aswell but none have failed me like the Lexus!

It is not only the car that fails, Lexus Sweden is rather awkward to deal with...

I am stuck with the Lexus and I will do the best of it but I will never ever buy a Lexus again! I will probably "give" the car to my mother i August/September and order a new BMW 3-serie Touring!

My list of things that have went wrong with my Lexus is, to me, way too long...

  4. As far as I know the alarm is still activated key or not.

The interior sensor in the IS is switched off by

    (a) whilst the driver door is open lock the doors using the power lock button on the door panel (i think you have to press it three times)

    (B) close the door and lock using the remote

    I do like this...

    (1) Close all doors except the drivers door

    (2) Press lock and then unlock (the button on the door panel)

    (3) Do (2) THREE times until the security lamp flashes fast!

    (4) Close the drivers door and lock the car using the remote!

This works neat on my IS200 SportCross -05! This neat trick lets me keep my dog in the car without having the alarm going off all the time!

  5. the total mileage on the car is 4700. but for some reason it seems abit sloppy going in 2nd gear sometimes.

    is this normal?

Well... Lexus here in Sweden says it should NOT be like that but some of its retailers says it's perfectly normal!

I have the same "problem" as you are experiencing and my car has gone 3200 miles by now.

I have read that this problem will somewhat go away after a couple of thousand miles, but apparently it will not go away completely!

It also seems that not all IS200 has this issue!

  6. This is how I do!

I turn off the engine, remove the ignition key.

    Step out out the car.

ClosE all doors EXCEPT the drivers door.

Press the lock/unlock button, on the drivers door, "lock doors" and then "unlock doors". Do this three times! After doing this the "Security" lamp will flash very fast.

Now the "interior" sensor is switched off!

Close the door and lock the door with the button on the key as usuall!

This works great on my car, a IS200 SportCross -05.

Hope this works for you guys!

  7. Yesterday my wife had problems looking the driver door on our Lexus IS200 SportCross -05. She could not look the door with the key and pressing the lock-button locked all doors but the driver door, though it indicated the door was looked! When she tried locking the driver door manually with the key, the result was the driver door locked but all other doors opened?!?!? And trying once more locking manually with the key all doors locked except for the driver door!

When pressing "lock" on the key all doors locked but the alarm went off right away!

Since I am 218 miles away from home I called Lexus Assistance having them towing away my Lexus to nearest garage! The only Lexus garage within a 250 miles radius had the garage closed for the whole week due to the technician was on a training course, yes they only have ONE technician in the second largest city in Sweden! So... Tomorrow I am leaving for home and I will have to travel another 500 miles next week just to pick up the Lexus, neat...

Anyways... Have any of you had the same or similar problems with locking your Lexus?

  8. I don't know really. It isn't THAT bad.

Last week we had approx. 25 cm of snow here in Sweden! I was stuck with a loaner, an IS200 auto. equipped with 17" with snow tires. It was OK I guess, but the anti-spin system was very eager!

The day after that I got my own car back, a BMW 3-series (current model) and I must say the BMW was handling better but not that much better.

My BMW was equipped with 15" winter tires and I guess if I had driven the Lexus with 16" winter tires the difference wouldn´t be that much.

So... The Lexus is the same or a little worse than the BMW but both of them are better than my Jaguar Super8 but they are all worse than my wifes X5 4.8iS and my fathers Saab 9-5 3.0 v6 turbo.
