Your car has a knackered engine, no MOT and nearly no tax- I say put it on ebay as spares or repair.
Have you looked into repairing/replacing the engine?
How much do u reckon it will cost to repair....??

Hi
I've got a 1999 IS200 Auto with working navigation. Recently, the radiator started leaking and my wife drove it with no water!! Got the AA man round who filled the radiator and pressed the accelerator and water squirted out of the rad.....he told me the head gasket had gone!!!
I want to get rid of the car now but needs new head gasket and rad.....car has done 145000 miles, no MOT and tax runs out at end of the month.....how much do you guys think it is worth????
Any advice much appreciated
Cheers

Hi
Ive just bought some secondhand fog lights for my is200 AUTO.....the previous ones rusted due to leakage of water inside them......from what i understand, the 1999 auto model was fitted with vented wheel arch plastic that allowed leakage of water into the fogs.
Can anyone advise me on what i should do to stop the sam happening again
thanks

Hi Guys,
Need your advice please. I have a Lexus IS200 Auto, 1999.
Which brand coolant and automatic transmission fluid should I use? Should I use Halfords own brand?
All help much appreciated.
Thanks

If you haven't done so already, take your car to WIM (Wheels in Motion) to get the geometry setup. IMHO that's where you should start. It will be £100 (approx) very well spent. The OEM geometry settings (camber/castor etc) are wrong on the IS200 and produce poor handling and premature tyre wear.
I'd also suggest HIDs. A very inexpensive mod that you'll make a lot of use of, unless you only ever drive in the daylight.
K&N filter is also great. Doesn't cost much at all and will produce some small benefits.
ARBs will make an absolutely *massive* improvement to handling by making you go round corners a whole lot better - essentially that's letting you go faster, more safely, with the same power as you've already got (i.e. you can use more of the power while you're not going in a straight line).
Thanks a lot guys really....some great advice there. Please excuse my ignorance.....could you kindly define 'HIDs' and 'ARBs' for me!
Ta!

Word of advice mate, anything on e-bay that says, save fuel, performance chip, electric supercharger and so on IGNOR.
You won't really get any noticable results until you start spending big money.
Fair enough.
Give me your opinion....what would you start with, apart from the K&N filter, which i will be getting?
-
Go and buy yourself another pint mate - that's a waste of money too!
lol lol.......cool......thanx.....
-
Thanks for your feedback guys.....much appreciated.....going to order the K&N.
Looking on eBay.....also came accross this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAVE-PETROL-FITS-Lex...1QQcmdZViewItem
Does it work?
-
Daft as it sounds reset your ECU by removing the ETCS and EFI fuses from the fusebox in the engine bay for a minute and see if that makes any difference?
Also if the auto gearbox oil hasn't been changed in a long time you may find that the most noticable results would be obtained by a full flush of the gearbox oil?
Will try resetting tomorrow.
Not sure if gearbox oil has been replaced.........is it something any mechanic should be able to do or do i need to go to a 'gearbox centre'?
-
DONT BUY IT!
Its basically a con. its a small resistor costing about 10p in a box. It just fools the car into thinking the air outside is really cold so the ecu pumps more fuel in.
I'd start with an induction kit, or exhaust. or even something simple like a K&N panel filter.
Stav
Excuse my ignorance stav, but how do an induction kit and K&N panel filter work, and are they things that i could fit myself easily?
Cheers

Thanks guys.....the old saying...if it sounds too good to be tru......!!
I've heard a few people mention IK20 spark plugs.....do they make a difference?
Basically I've got around £200 to spend.....i'm not looking for major improvements......i have an is200 auto and the pick up from zero is poor.

Hello guys...
I'm a 'modification virgin'!! I want to improve my engine performance and wanted advice on what I should start with. I came accross this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-Performance-Mo...A1%7C240%3A1318
What do you think of this chip?
All/any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Thats extortionate!!!
Is it easy to replace bulbs and clean housing?? Can anyone briefly tell me the procedure....??
Thanks

Hi
My front fogs are not working.....water in them and rusted.....can i just replace fogs or do i need to change bumper aswell? I was told by someone that not possible to just replace fogs. Is there a 'walk thru' thread anywhere? Looked on eBay for front fogs....none! Anyone got any for sale?
Thanks

Changed the misfiring coil today (thanks Adie!), car seems to be driving fine at the mo......fingers crossed it remains so!
Will keep an eye on consumption.....added bonus if reduces consumption too!
-
Hey, thanks very much guys....all is good now....appreciate your help.
-
ETCS and EFI i believe.
So do i simply just remove the 2 fuses and replace them?? Do i have to leave them out for some time?
Thanks
-
Hi Guys,
just got back of hols and changed one of the coil packs that needed to be changed. Engine seems to be running ok now but the 'engine management' sign is still on, although not flashing, and the 'TRC' light is flashing. I need to make a 100 mile round trip today so slightly concerned....any advise please?

Well, the guy from the AA left the rad cap off and pressed the accelerator and water squirted out....he said there is a pressure biuld up which indicates head gasket has gone apparently!
