  1. On the rear window on my car there is a garage sticker with an advert on. I tried to pull it off, but its well and truly stuck on. I wondered what I can use to lift it off the glass . It runs a little close to the heating element (about three mm) . I really hate these things its just a form of cheap advertisment. Its the only one that refuses to be pulled away from, the glass

  2. Hi,

well I have had my GS since friday and I am so plased with it. Just an update , I thought the garage said they had just fitted rear and front pads, but they didnt, the put the brake pads on, plus a new set of discs on the back, they are so shiny! :D ,

I have a question regarding the dash lights. I had one replaced, but now the petrol tank indicator back light has gone :crybaby: .

So I thought well if two have gone (ones been replaced and working great) the rest might be ready to go. I read this really helpful post for the GS 300 by Jaybo :)

Remove the black plastic trim (the one with the light dimmer switch) in front of the clocks. you will then see 2 philips screws , remove them. then at the top of the binicle you will see 2 more , remove them also.

the clocks/instrument cluster should then just pull out !

When pulling out there are 3 plugs to which you have to remove

Once you have the cluster out turn it over you will find it is covered by a white plastic tray held on by approx 8 possi screws , remove them and the tray

You can now gain access to the bulbs

To remove the bulbs just twist them

Took me abouy 10 mins to replace all the bulbs and put back together ..

Im pretty good with my hands , but in all honesty is it a fairly easy job to do ?

I was thinking of replacing the lot except for the one done at the garage

And if so what size bulbs and where do I get them please?

I took the car into work today :D I think the knives where out

  3. I think its a cracking motor, but again have to say I couldnt have done it all without the help on here thanks again guys :D :D

Its getting warm now, it snowed when I went to get it . and I was freezing my :tsktsk: :D off today, but the wind has dropped.

What have I got to look for at the bottom of the radiator :crybaby: nothing bad?ooooo thats got me worried.

Oh yes the arial, its not a Lexus one, its a off the shelf one. If I look very closely at the paint work I can just make out another circle where another fixing sat. The arial (or whats left of it :D ) is just loose. The good news just for now, Ive got my hands on another automatic arial, It will do for a few weeks, then Ill see if I can get a proper Lexus one

Ive just found out the ignition switch lights up ! COR  never had that before

Its polish time tomorrow :D I'll make them look at work B)

  4. Hi all :D , ive just got in from cleaning and polishing LOL, but I found a problem.

The garage where I bought my lexus from , did every thing I asked for :) , even new brake pads all round which was a nice surprise. My brother had a look at it and said it was a cracking car. But :crybaby: , ive just checked the coolant and its blue, I dont think it was done on purpose as the guy has gone out of his way to make sure I'm happy.

 The question I need to ask , as I'm worrying , is will it be ok for a week. Or has the damage been done already, im biting my nails here. I know a bit of basics on cars but not an awful lot, as Im new to this red coolant, im not sure what to do or if it will wait

I can finish work early week after next (1.30) so there is plenty of time for them to change it while I wait

  5. thankyou for the phot mudzs :D , that has solved the whole thing, it looks nothing like that at all. Its a shaped protective rubber body, instead of nice chrome its just black , If I can get hold of a digi camera I'll take a picture. Im wondering if its a rubber cover that comes off. But it looks nothing like yours :-(

what I'm going to do today is from the inside out . check and clean it all with proper leather cleaner Etc. I know its been valeted, but If I do it myself I'll really go to town. If I find any other problems I'll list them as I go :D

So no driving today .just the radio on (that works with out the arial  ) and a cup of tea and some rags , smashing! and its alllllllllllll mine LOL.

    I'll be on again later.

Also I slept like a log last night , the first time all week :)

  6. Thanks for that :D , I had a close look at the arial, and from what I can see (i'll try and describe it the best I can)

There is a rubber round seal on the wing, and in this is the remnants of the arial.

The damage looks like an arial which has been extended then snapped off , as it is broken off just inside the lip. The part I can see in the recess is the broken thicker part of the arial, so there is a hole about 8mm wide with the jagged edge of the arial surrounding it. It looks like it was broken off with force, though I could be wrong. I hope I can fix it. It must be very expensive to replace.

It has no chrome fitting at all, so I wonder if it is an off the shelf one already.

I was caught unawares as I didnt check the arial, I was so busy checking all the other stuff , that I have to admit I overlooked it. There is an arial atttached to the roof (about 8 inches tall) towards the back, and I thought in all honesty that was the arial and didnt give it another glance, most of the time was looking under the car and inside etc.

If I do have to replace the whole thing, can I get away with fitting a cheaper automatic one? (as it does look a bit ugly).

What I will do first though is take the whole unit out if thats ok to do, and strip it and clean it , (Ill put a smart looking black cap over the hole temporary) then if the motor is ok ill get the other part as suggested. :)

  7. Hi all,

loved the remarks LOL! . Ive been in about an hour , as I was late picking the car up, had to rush my mums pet to the vets first , but all sorted now :D .

Well what can I say, or not say LOL, firstly thankyou for ALL the encouragment from the word go. The car is fantastic and I am so pleased, It was worth every penny!

I did check the cd changer and it all there :D (thanks Tony for that)

Now to list the things wrong, from worst to better

The arial is broken (oh well) so im going to get a new one Sunday. Its £29 for a fully automatic one at a car discount center.

erm... oh yes there is a water mark on the seat belt

erm .... a small chip mark on the bumper

um ...( Im trying honest) a small 10mm split in the paint above the door , drivers side. (been shown a trick for that it wont even notice)

    Im really thinking now :D

three plastic studs missing in the boot compartment

Also the scratches that I thought where on the wing are just marks :D :D :D

Its a lovely motor , and yes I was smiling all the way home lol

I wouldnt mind some tips on fitting a new arial please , is it easy?

Im going to get a camera sorted soon, so I'll put a picture on the post in a week or so.

    thanks guys :)

  8. It seems inadvertently ive raised an interesting point, but if needs be I will get them checked if recommended. :) . The car is still being serviced and had new rear brakes fitted at no extra cost to me , cant be bad :D
