  1. The best way I can describe my 'fault', is that it feels like smooth chrome - strange, I know, but that's the only way I can describe it!:( I'll keep my eyes open for the thread, and keep a closer eye on the gearbox!!

My import never came with foggies so I have the brake light modified and i switch on the foggies manually. Passes the MOT every time. So why not use the fogs as brake lights on a twin filament basis... ??

I fancy giving this a go - it would look nice using twin filaments to have the fogs as normal tail lights, too. Anyone in the UK done this?

  3. I sometimes get quite solid resistance when going up from second to third gear. It's hard to explain, but it does feel that something is in the way - release pressure and try again and it slots in smoothly. It's as if the resistance is designed to be there, as it doesn't feel like a foreign object floating about in the box. Weird. Anyone else experienced this?

  4. For everyone that hasn't been following the thread on audio/video/electronics, take a look at www.grangey.demon.co.uk/dension for a brief reveiw and photo's of the Dension in-car MP3 player I recently bought and had installed. The sound quality is excellent! Add to your wishlist today!!

  5. Snoopers are nice and compact, but they suffer from false alarms, as all makes do. You learn to ignore the false alarms, though. I find the Snooper to be a little loud on the quietest setting - it would be better if it used ramped volume. Still, it's saved me a few times :P - worth the £170 from www.letsbuyit.com. I usually hardwire the unit to, say, the overhead light and put the unit at the top of the windscreen. Less obvious there.

By the way, aren't the blue cameras on A and B roads traffic sensors for TrafficMaster? They measure traffic flow, not speed.

  6. I just picked up my IS200 and I got the dealer to arrange the fitting of an in-car phone kit. It works a treat! I paid an extra £25 and got a bracket that doesn't need screwing in (no holes in the dash). The bracket disappears between the dash and the stereo on the left hand side, along with the wire. The mic is fitted to the light/sunroof switch unit on the roof, with the speaker fitted underneath the glove box. When you receive a call, the stereo (either CD or radio) mutes, as it does when you press a button on the phone to make a call. Sound quality is excellent.....

My car is the SE with the separate amp - check yours out if you have the S - I'm not sure if they have the amp?

Hope it's of use to you!!

  7. First post - sweaty palms over with (hope it doesn't matter that I haven't ACTUALLY picked up the IS200 yet!!). eBay is an ideal place for mStation. v1 is, supposedly, a little trickier to dock and un-dock (something to do with the connector), whilst v2 is easier AND has back-lighting on the satellite controller. v2 also has USB connection for transferring files. Both have the option of an FM modulater so that you don't need to hard wire it to the stereo (having said that, that's small beer to some of the mods you lot make!!). mStation is unsupported in the UK. Try www.6thplanet.com for v1 and v2.

Fancy one? Try http://www.dension.com/english/indexeng.html for a new MP3 player. I've heard a whisper from the sole UK supplier that they are being shipped to him from Wednesday. Feel free to email me for details?
