  1. Hi guys, wonder if someone can help me? My GS300, 2001 plate, is blowing out cold air on the passenger side, whilst the driver side is hot. To assist, a bit of a background - the car was recently diagnosed as having head gasket problems. Having researched the internet, I found this so called elixir - "steal seal", which was guaranteed to seal all head gasket problems or your money back guarantee. Weighing up two bottles of this stuff for £60 against £1000, I took the gamble. Unfortunately it did not work, so I ended up having a new head gasket and a new radiator as it was all clogged up with this cement like stuff.Following the head gasket change, there was no heat coming out from the heater. After flushing the heater matrix several times, eventually managed to get very warm air. Even when set at the max temp of 30, whilst the driver side is just ok - not brilliant as it was previously, however, the passenger side is blowing out cold air. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Rishi
  2. Hi Rick, Many thanks for your reply, it worked a treat! :) Rishi
  3. Hi, I have a 2001 GS 300, and both my VSC off and on lights have recently come on, following my request to the garage to check and erase the MIL fault code. The fault code was as previously - P0430, which I have had for the past two years since the car has been converted on LPG. Last week at 122k, the head gasket went - oouch :megaangry: . After the garage had erased the fault code and as soon as I drove off, both VSC lights have illuminated. I have been informed the VSC lights can be rest by shorting 2 pins in the OBD connector. Could someone please supply this information, Many Thanks Rishi
  4. Hi Pete, These prices are superb! I wish you had quoted these a year ago, when I had my Lexus GS300 converted using the Prins vsi and I paid £2000 including flash lube. Hope all goes well! Rishi
  5. Hi, Thanks for responding. I did get some prices for cats (supply only): Jap parts for less (tel 0844 880 4140) £232.88 DIY Motorist £222.08 Online Automotives £235.88 cheaptoyotaparts.co.uk - Chris Billimore quoted £541 Apparently cats can be steel or ceramic monolith and I think the steel ones are more expensive but allegedly more durable, as the ceramic ones can crack. To be honest I'm not sure what the above ones are.Requires a bit more research!
  6. Hi folks, I need some help. The dreaded engine management light has recently come on it to local Lexus dealer who very kindly without charge hooked it on the diagnostics and informed me it is the cat,but to see how it goes as they had reset the ecu. After a few weeks the light reappeared,so I took it to a independent garage and they informed me that the fault code was PO430 - "Below threshold Bank 2", which could be the cat. I've had the car converted on LPG and have done just over 20,000 miles since conversion. On the net,I found the probable cause to be cat convertor wiring heated oxygensensor. When I brought the car,one of the oxygen sensor needed replacing with only 43,000,which I've just found out was Bank1,sensor2 (ie post cat,cylinders1,2,3). My gut feeling would be to replace the oxygen sensor bank2,sensor2 (ie post cat, cylinders 4,5,6). There is nothing else wrong with car,it is driving fine. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Secondly,I am informed the cat comes as part of the manifold is this true? and finally where is the best place to source the cat and oxygen sensors - although I've found oxygensensors.com in USA to be the cheapest? Thanking you in advance.
  7. Hi, I have now been driving on LPG for the last ten years.Until April last year I was driving a Honda accord which I had converted in 1997, and did approx 120,000 miles on gas before selling it with 150,000 miles.I then did alot of research and after test driving a Lexus GS300, it was the best car I had driven. The car on a 2001 plate had only done 43,000 miles so would be good for conversion. After much research I opted to have the Prins VSI system, although it was a close call between the Prins and the BRC system. These modern systems being multi point injection are alot better than the previous one I had on my Honda which was single point and had experianced a few "blow backs". To my understanding this does not occur with the new systems. I infact had mine converted via a marketing company called Fuelture and the conversion was carried out by LPG Conversions in Heanor,Derbyshire and paid 2k. which included a flash lube system which allegedly lubricates the valves as the Japanese cars tend to have softer valves. However,at the time some of the convertors I spoke to intimated that there was no need for the flash lube system on the Lexus, however I had one installed. I had a 70ltr torroidal tank fitted in place of the spare wheel, thus losing no storage space. I have now done just over 20,000 miles on gas and it is brilliant! In terms of fuel economy last Sunday I did 264 miles on 56litres of gas which cost me £25.20, and that was with 5 passengers, full boot and average speed 80-85 miles/hr.I guess if I drove sensibly 55-60 miles/hr (boring) I may've got a few more miles! Have a look at the Autogas site and ensure it is an approved LPGA installer. I can vaguely recall there being a company called Gastech based in Essex who had converted Lexus cars (always helps) and were very knowledgeable.Hope this helps.
