Sat Nav Screen/reversing Camera

My dad has a Sc430 that has now covered 14k from new. It's an early car and a few years ago I paid a reputable specialist to fit rear parking sensors. It's a poor effort really although it looks like a factory install. My daily is an old Nissan Primera which has a particularly useful reversing camera fitted.

I wondered if anyone here has successfully fitted a reversing camera to a Sc430 that uses the colour sat nav screen. How easy was it to fit and exactly what do I need to buy. Costing would be useful as well.

I passed my dad the solid gold tips from this site about how to remove the tyre pressure sensors. He switched to Michelin PS3's all round. The difference in ride quality over the standard run flats was absoloutely night and day.

Not sure about a reversing camera but I am sure people who use run flat tyres don't understand how to drive or how important good ride is for road holding and safety. Run flats are a menace. They should be banned.

This is a fairly easy job. I have done it to 2 SC430 that I have owned(2001 and 2003 model years)There is a plug and play video module that you plug into the sat nav computer in the boot. It gives you an additional video feed that will take a rear view camera. Some of the modules give you two video feeds so you can also plug in a tv tuner, playstation or whatever takes your fancy.

One module is called Navtool and is available on eBay.com. There are a couple of others, but their name slips me just now. Check out Club Lexus. There are a number of threads that cover this install.

My install on the 2001 model year that I know drive has rear view camera , tv tuner and iPod all routed through the standard head unit. The only changes I have nade to the stock set up is to have installed a satnav computer from a crash damaged 2009 SC. so I get the graphics of the later models, but not the full functionality, as the 2001 wiring harness does not support the functions of the later models.

Do you know what year the graphics were improved ? I would give an arm and a leg for a better sat nav computer on my 2005 430SC (2006 model 6 speed model)
