  1. ok folks, i had a test drive in the IS 250 Sport.

First off, it looks damn good !!! As in every picture you probably see anyway, but the 18" alloys i think really suit the car.

Everything interior is just the same as the SE, which also has the metal effect trim.

As for the ride, ofcourse very smooth but i just felt it was lacking, i just didn't get that real sporty feel as you might with, do i dare say, a BMW.

A fantastic car in its own right, but compared to the auto i had driven a few months ago, the Sport manual just didn't do it for me, so i have decided to go for the SE with Auto + MM and probably add on 18" wheels too. I have to say despite having the bigger wheels the ride was still very smooth and i didn't notice any great difference in road noise etc.

Although the Sport comes with the added features as in the SE-L

    - rain sensing wipers

    - memory seats

    - HID lights....... etc

i would have liked those features, but the auto takes precedence.

I was thinking of going for Black with beige leather interior.

Has anyone else added 18" wheels to their SE or SE-L, if so which ones did you go for??

I was gonna go for the ones on the sport, coz they probably look the best!!!

oh yes has to be auto.i think chunky 5spokes would look nice.

  2. I've posted a few pics on the gallery. Sorry its a bit dirty. It looks much lower in real life.

I'll take some more in a place more picturesque than Tesco car park soon!!

Does anyone know who made the exhaust? I can't see a maker's mark easily - it is a full cat back system, not just back boxes.

looks nice mate, are wheels genuine toyota?

  3. Hi Guys,

My IS went in today for a 70k service at Chester. A couple of questions for your opinions:-

    1) I was charged £62 for 5 litres of oil after 15% discount - is this right? I've checked my previous services from Liverpool & Stoke and was charged £30. I was just wondering if the oil problems have caused a price hike?

    2) Was also told my front discs are warped, they were replaced in Feb 2005 under warranty and I am now being told that they are not covered under 12 months warranty as the warranty on the discs was only covered for the warranty of the car (which expired in May 2005). Are they right or are they taking the P***! I've never heard of anything so crazy in my life. What would happen if say for example a water pump was faulty under warranty, replaced FOC and then out of warranty became faulty but was still within a 12 month period, would the same apply? Or anything else come to that matter?

    All answers much appreciated.

  4. Hi,

Whats the best colour to paint them for a blue Altezza....oh and the rusty part of the brake disc (rear)...what colour would suit that..??

    Thanks

blue or red would look sporty, rusty part of your disc silver to match wheels or matt black. :)

  5. This happened a couple of weeks ago, but i put it down to the fact it was raining, and there was water on the rear disk, which caused the rear cailpers to 'stick' to the disk...

However, it happened again last night - car has been stood for a couple of days in the garage, i come to pull it out, release the handbrake, and the car wont move...

Eventually brute force gets it moving, but not without a loud 'clunk' from the brakes... and a horrid scraping sound from them for the first 5 minutes...

Is this just the brakes seizing to the disks? is there a way to avoid this (dont say leave the handbrake off), is there any damage being done?

when keeping your car in garage with wet brakes dont store with your handbrake on,less chance of seizing.

seems to work for me but still check it out.
