  1. Finally yes! However it wasn't what I thought - it was a shock absorber! The bushes are fine - talking to the head of the service department and seems I've been unlucky in the bushes department. Apparently they should last for at least 50-60k not 20k as I seemed to get previously. Car now perfect, handles better and very quiet. Though I have to say the last GS430 I had DID have the bushes problem and it does make a big difference to the handling of the car. Symptoms of a split bush are similar to a failed shock absorber (less sharp handling and knocking noise over bumps) hence why I mistook it for that. Hopefully get the bush part numbers in a couple of weeks for people and will post when I do.
  2. No I don't but it's going into have them done on the 17th December so I'll get them and post them here when it goes in. If anyone gets them before then please post them in this thread. Thanks also everyone for your comments.
  3. Yes. I don't drive over speedhumps fast either - I'm told as I said it's a known problem. The car still drives well and handles ok, but when they are replaced it's a massive improvement.
  4. Has anyone else with a GS430 had this issue? Evey 20k miles apparently the front suspension bushes split due to the weight of the 4.3 engine. This results in an annoying knocking sound from the suspension and reduction in handling. I had a Mk4 LS400 a few years ago and it was affected too - Lexus know about this apparently. It's because the engine weighs so much. On my 4th MK2 GS430 now and it's just happened again, really annoying! All the GS's I've had have all been Lexus dealer serviced at the right intervals as specified by Lexus. Apologies if this has been asked before but I'm hoping that Lexus have at last fixed it in the new GS 430's!
  5. The answer is YES.. Had bought v2 2004/5 disc for my GS and only had it installed about 3 weeks when I was hit from behind by a Toyota rav4 and ended with the car wrote off :tsktsk: Anyway cutting a long story short I now have got myself a june 03 RX se/nav and the disc works 100%. Great vehicle by the way. Nigel ← Thanks everyone for the replies - I thought it might work but you've both confirmed it for me now. I'm looking forward to having a go in the RX - seems a really nice car.
  6. Been asked a question which I hope someone can answer for me? Relatives had a GS 300 SE 2002 model with SAT NAV and they bought the upgraded DVD which is 2004 / 2005 V2 for it. I've tried this disc in a friends IS 200 2004 model and it works fine - also works fine in my 03 GS430 sport. They are looking to upgrade to an RX 300 SE-L registered in July 2003. Anyone know if this disc will work in it? Many thanks
  7. Hi Gavin, Just to add confirmation, my last car was one of the first GS 430s, it was an SE, and was first registered in November 2000. It was a demonstrator, I bought it when 6 months old. Sat nav, etc but the demonstrators lacked one item - memory seats. When I bought mine in May 2001, there were several for sale, perhaps one at each dealer, all minus memory seats, so if looking and testing you can tell which ones these were. The earlier ones also had very bling chromed alloys. It is a fast car, very smooth and quiet, great sat nav, not the greatest cornering car. I do not know exactly when the 430Sport was launched, but a search on What Car or Parkers site might give you an answer. Regards, Tony ← As a new member, I thought I might be able to help out here. I've had a few GS430 SE's and just changed my 2001 GS430 Sport for a 'true' 2003 GS430 Sport. Bottom line is if your budget doesn't stretch to the 2003 'true' ones, a 2001 430 sport is a really different drive to the standard 430SE and is much improved. It handles a lot better and externally is identical to the 2003 model complete with the same 18" alloys and sport decals along with the spoilers front and rear. 2001 models also have the seat memory and the 100k cam belt change along with all the other 430 nice bits (like remote audio controls on the steering wheel) - my one also had sat nav which was the DVD model but the early version without the route preview and calendar capabilities. Lexus dealers also sell the 2001 version as a sport model and price it accordingly - it may only have different springs but it makes a surprisingly large difference to the handling. The 2003 true GS430 sport is even tauter than the 2001 sport I had and handles better still. Hope that helps.
