  1. I heard a couple of people with it on have actually gone back to Lexus and asked them to disable it because they didnt like it at all.
  2. Ive just traded in a BMW330d that everyone raved about for a lexus 400h and though I could therefore put some complaints in......again BM of course not Lexus and I really cant understand why BM get such a good press and Lexus such a bad one. i bought a 2004 330d touring auto 3 years ago for £13k not bad for a £34k motor!!! just traded it in for £5.5 after spending £3k to get on the road..(i know might be worth keeping after spending that but i really cant be arsed!!!) There is no scandle, No rants about defective this and that, No troubles with dealers, No moaning about poor quality pieces, bmw "quality" well over hyped and no better than lexus, most important equipment like brakes etc not very well engineered No break downs, too many to list No blown gaskets, nope No failed brakes, several including many cherry red brake disks with brakes binding intermittently, tramlined line anything and was very uneasy when braking, abs always interfering No warranty recalls, No claims, No poor servicing, No engine lights coming on, the car would randomly run out of diesel with 1/4 tank left (quite a common problem apparently) do this twice and the engine light stays on. £36k motor and you have to run around with a jerry can full of diesel in the boot!! No frustrations about rattles that cant be found, plenty No arguments with fanboys, turbo goes (quite a common problem apparently) costs £700 +VAT+removal + fitting (Approx £1k) auto gearbox goes (quite a common problem apparently) as the torque converter cant handle the torque and disintegrates and scatters around the gearbox jamming stuff and requiring a full re condition costs £1500 +VAT+removal + fitting (Approx £2k)
  3. Hi Alitech. I have just bought a 2007 plate with 55k on from lexus for £18.5 with a £6k trade in on my BMW330d. Parkers reckon it should have been over £21k and looking at your Parkers reckon yours should be over £15k. I had an IS200 a few years ago and it was bullet proof, I foolowed the hype and swapped to a BMW330d, now after endless trips about my brakes, a new turbo, and finally this month a new auto box, Ive had enough and come back to the roost. I think the RX400h is unique in the fact you can travel around a city in complete silence, complete luxury, you wont pay congestion charge and around town is where its most economical. I also need to tow, but I have already been bitten by BMW and Im not going to give all my hard earned cash over to land rover to cover their notorious reliability issues. I went to Lexus main dealer because I wanted the security of their warranty, I do believe you can buy these for a second hand car even if not bought from them and that might cost you a few quid but youve saved three grand not going to a main dealer. Ive heard parts are dear but being a Lexus they are renown for their reliability, so you shouldnt ever have to buy any :-). I also pay £150 a year for AA and that gives me roadside assistance, relay to anywhere in UK, 3 days in a hotel or rental car and also (the best bit) if they cant fix the car at the roadside they will fix it and pay the first £500. My insurance is the same as my 330d and its about £700 a year. Tyres for a decent set are about £150 each go to www.parkers.co.uk for a detailed breakdown of the car and its spec, then go to www.blackcircles.co.uk for a tyre quote. the stereo is supposed to be superb and I think the solution im going to is a radio transmitter for my ipod and you simply tune the stereo to it, not ideal but a lot less messing around and expense than fitting another stereo. parkers website details all the tax band etc but i think its about £255 a year. I havent actually picked mine up yet just waiting for the paperwork for the private plate to go through so hopefully someone that actually owns one could give you more help. take the plunge i have!!!! Phil
  4. We've ordered one and cant wait to pick it up. I travel from Liverpool to Manchester every day and I think it will be great around Manchester city centre and also on the motorway, pure silent luxury!!!! we've also got a caravan so looking forward to see how that handles the van on the motorway. I cant wait to see the back of my BMW330d, new turbo last month now auto box has gone!!!
  5. Im after a second TTE Supercharger, has anyone got one for sale? If not which is the best new kit to go for? Cheers Lads PhilB

  10. i mean the turbo import!! and i thought thats what you had.
  11. i looked at getting an mrs (i think youll find the mr2 turbos from japan are mrs, not the roadster underpowered ******* that was sold in 2000) for track days with a loss in weight and a quick chipping you are looking at avery quick car! 12.5 sec to a ton standard,....
  12. No a nice older 911 with a few little tweeks, no big 996!! light car 995kg plenty of power goes like stink!!!!!! dont get me wrong i love the lexus thats why i would rather get more power than go for bmw, audi crap. love the engineering of lexus/toyota.
  13. So how many IS300 you seen then OK put a S/C on your IS and me, Mr Morse and his Mrs will be leaving you to eat dirt :D its only my second car mate and just felt it needed a bit more power!!!!
  14. thought the mr2 was a 96 so mrk2 **** settup version. ive seen them nicely tuned to a lot more than any lexus IS300 ive ever seen!!!
  15. fixed my pads at the weekend, easiest car ive ever worked on!!! lad before was right 10 mins per corner including getting the wheel off!!! what a peice of engineering. the pads need copper greese on the back (halfords £1.49) then at anti squeel pad 1, more greese, anti squeel pad number 2, more greese, push pistons back, replace caliper, easy. like the lad said save your favours for bigger jobs than that!!! PhilB any probs pm me fixed my pads at the weekend, easiest car ive ever worked on!!! lad before was right 10 mins per corner including getting the wheel off!!! what a peice of engineering. the pads need copper greese on the back (halfords £1.49) then at anti squeel pad 1, more greese, anti squeel pad number 2, more greese, push pistons back, replace caliper, easy. like the lad said save your favours for bigger jobs than that!!! 16. whats you is300 pumping out and whats your toyota mrs pumping out?
  17. Thanks for your help lads, i think ill go for the cheaper option of a supercharger. Mainly because I felt the IS200 needed a bit more power to get the best out of it but i didnt want to spend too much money on it or spend many hours tinkering with it. ( I have another "weekend" car which Ill spend my time tinkering with). Thanks for all your comments and help lads. Phil ps i still think autos are for the elderly, infirm or girls!!
  18. Im new to the forum I probably feel the same as a lot of you fellas that my IS200 sport could do with a little more poke under the bonnet. I dont want to sell the car and go for a tezza and I like my driving and dont want a girly auto box so thats the IS300 out of the equation. So i think that leaves me with two options, supercharger or turbo. What are the power increases, cost and ease of fitting required for both? Help please Lads PhilB911
  19. cheers lads. just changed the brake pads aswell, what a doddle!!!
  20. Where does the pollen filter live and how easy is it to change? Thanks PhilB
  21. Did adding the K&N filter add any extra power? or make the engine smoother?
