  1. Ok, I'm still getting used to an auto with rear wheel drive.. In my 15 years of driving, I have never drove an auto rwd car in the snow. Manual rwd, no problem. . set off in 2nd/3rd gear not much power... off we go. I had the unfortunate incident of making myself look like a complete and utter pleb a few weeks ago, when I had to turn my car around, in a cul-de-sac, which was frosty. Not icy, frosty. The end of it and a small, incline... I mean, small. The 400, did not want to know. . :tsktsk: I've also managed to get the car sideways, on more than one occasion. And not by booting it either. . Has anyone got good tips, for the impending inclement weather, and certainly, for setting off in autos???
  2. Most definately photshopped You can tell where the back wheel arch is supposed to be.... Still, a good try though. ove the one big door. Wonder if it'll hinge at the top or front???
  3. Hia all. I've got an LS400, which has the Lexus alarm fitted to it. However, it's waaaaay too sensitive. High winds, hailstones and even loud and/or heavy vans or trucks set the thing off. Not good at 3am!! I've checked the back of the alarm siren itself (where most alarm sensitivity screws are), but not this one. Does anyone know, if there is such an adjustment screw on these things? The alarm itself, is not the IR activation by the key, but a normal 'plip' alarm with a radio remote. Any advice would be muchly appreciated. Jim
  4. LOL! I think the nearest I've got to that is a 3 foot power bar for the wheel nuts! Me thinks Ebay.com will be getting a browse over. I actually clean forgot abouot .com, I only browsed .co.uk!! :duh: I'll certainly try the re-prime of the struts though! Cheers guys!
  5. AAAAARGH!!! Ok. The cold weather has started, and I went to check my levels on my '96 Mk3 LS400, like a good little boy. I got a nasty surprise as the bonnet decided to shut itself. On my head! :tsktsk: The bonnet struts have been a tad tempremental since I got the car in May, but now they won't stay put at all. I rang my local Lexus dealer (RMB Yarm) and got quoted £188 + VAT for the pair Does anyone know, where I can get a similar pair of struts for a decent price, and not silly money?? Cheers in advance. Jim. :D
  6. I've had the same problem with the brake light on my dash since changing the rear pads myself... There was no wear sensor on them, and a straight forward swap. I checked the front ones, and on reading this, I think I may have an open circuit.. The light goes out of it's wet or damp as well!!! I'll have to double check the front pads again I think! :winky:
  7. Oooh the buttons, the buttons! Like a big boys playground! :D I love it! I've had a browse of the dash fix, and I'll need to ingest it some more this coming week (I work the weekends on a nightshift) I'm gonna take some pix this coming week of Mags (I name all my cars for some reason, does anyone else do that? or am I completely mad?) as long as the sun stays out and not this current constant rain in the North East! Jim
  8. Sweet!!! I'll be signing up at the end of the month for that methinks! :D And thank you all for making me feel welcome!
  9. Hey there! Just recently become (as in 2 days ago!) a proud owner of a Lexus LS400. ^_^ I've hankered after one of these for some time, and now I've had the chance to buy one. It's a 95 on an N plate, Mk2 LS (so I'm reliably informed!) in dark green metallic. And I'm Loving it! I had an initial choice of Jag XJ6, LS400 or Legend Coupe, and after a lot of research, plummed for the LS. Jags had too many problems, and the Legend. Rebodied Rover 800. Not something I want to do coming from a Rover 600! It's unfortunately suffering from the LS dash syndrome at the mo (end of the tacho needles gone dark!), apart from that, no problems. So, thats a little about me! Looking forward to many hours of browsing on LOC! Jim
