  1. icier @ 28/06/06 Many thanks for this Mike. Encountered ERR3 on 2000 Reg IS200 yesterday. Contacted Lexus today to check - out of warranty (5 years for audio). Estimated cost for repair - average of 400 quid. :D So tried your option (with backup of installing a new unit). Hey presto! :D :D Worked a treat. Managed to release the disks, unload and reload / play others. Whether it is a long term fix - we will see. Thanks again I hate this issue - I have enjoyed owning my IS200 Sport since new '99 but my second bottom loading CD unit has blown and its obviously WELL out of warranty. I think Lexus have been well shabby in not sorting these out permanently, as its more than common. This problem is almost endemic. In no other industry would you get away with selling dodgy merchandise and then charging the earth to replace it. Seriously unhappy. :tsktsk:
  2. Doubt it mate, original cover was extended from 3 to 5 years, any replacement would have a warranty of 1 year. Thanks. I ain't surprised! Thanks for the tip!
  3. no fella, first batch of proper IS 200s to come in end 98. I got mine from a Lexus dealer, McCarthy in Weybridge in Surrey, which has now gone to Croydon, I think? Anyone know if a replacement CD unit 4 years ago still qualifies for replacement under the extended 5 year Lexus (yes, Lexus) warranty?
  4. keen to find a bottom loading CD/Radio unit for a 1998 IS200. Anyone know where I can find one? Also my Sat Nav screen has a strange yello wtinge to it. Any tips - do I need to replace it?
  5. Thanks! Think it is a bottom loading CD unit in mine already but thanks for the help!
  6. I seem to get 360 miles per tank, almost whatever I do (although admittedly a lot of my driving is on A roads/Motorways), which works out at 28 miles per gallon. I have always been really pleased with the fuel consumption of my IS 200 Sport, particularly after some interesting experiences with a Celica GT Four in the past! Welcome to Lexus ownership!
  7. I managed to pick up the dreadful ERR3 message on my Radio in my IS200 recently and then it stopped working completely (Radio works but not CDs). I am out of warranty (its one of the early IS200s to come into the UK when it was first launched) and I want to get hold of a bottom loading CD unit. Can anyone advise or sell me one? I also have a dodgy SatNav screen (love my car but why are the electrics so :tsktsk: poor?). Can I just get that replaced without having to spend £50 million on a whole new system? cheers!
