  1. I've given up trying to work out what's up so have bought a replacement actuator also!
  2. Got a facelift LS430 with a door lock issue. Passenger front door doesn't lock on the first lock press and only locks once you press the lock again for double locking. I've changed the door lock actuator motor as it's the most common of issues but this has made no difference. Anyone got any clues? I'm a bit baffled, it's got keyless entry (not that it's ever used) but can't see why this would affect anything. Thanks in advance.
  3. Got to arrange to have the rear screen replaced on a 2005 LS430. Looking on the various Russian Lexus parts sites it shows part no. 6481050290 for upto 2000-2003 and part no. 6481050330 for 2003-2006. I've found one that has been removed from a 2001 model but this will be the older part number. Does anyone have any info as to the difference and if the older one will fit? Hoping it's just a very minor difference!
  4. Sadly there are no facelift LS430's being broken to y knowledge in the UK. As for the camera the lense looks like it's seen better days so I'm taking this as an indication it's knackered. As for the Land Cruiser motors I might take the plunge just to see, land of the brave and all that!
  5. Looking to put a few things right on a 2005 LS430. Both steering motors have slowed to a crawl so need replacing, have tried lubrication but to no avail. Can anyone confirm that Land Cruiser Motors part numbers 89231-60021 and 89232-60021 fit the LS430? Also need a replacement reversing camera but I've only been able to find one at the moment at a breakers in Australia unless I want to buy a new one or expensive second hand one from the US. I've looked at amayama and even they're expensive for one! Finding anyone breaking a facelift LS430 in the UK is like trying to find rocking horse dung, one or two earlier ones but never post '04!
  6. Thanks for coming back and keep us updated as to how you find it! :winky:
  7. Thanks for coming back and keep us updated as to how you find it! :winky:
  8. Thanks for coming back and I'm intrigued to know the outcome so keep us informed when you do get it. :winky:
  9. Any luck with the kit itarumaa? :winky:
  10. Look forward to hearing your opinion. ;)
  11. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is a complete timing belt kit with nothing missing? Also when changing the spark plugs is there anything else that should be changed at the tsame time like the seals that go over the spark plug holes?
  12. This is the SKF kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS-400-98-Timing-Cam-Belt-Kit-/200620523528?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb5ea4008 Looks like the tensioner has two pulleys, and as you can see this kit only has the one extra pullet with it.
  13. What brand of plugs are recommended and is there anything else that should be done while the cambelts being done? have read on some US sites about doing the camseals while you're at it.
  14. Does anyone know the part number for the puley that is missing with the SKF kit and also having spoken to the independent who serviced the vehicle (to see if cambelt had been done) they confirm the vehicle needs a cambelt changed and also the spark plugs doing too. Does anyone know what spark plugs will be best and also where I can get them and some Toyota Red Coolant cheaply from.
  15. So the SKF kit is missing a pulley? Anyone know where the other pulley can be sourced cheaply?
  16. Looking at the SKF kit it appears it comes with only the one pulley as well as the tensioner and belt itself....shouldn't it have 2 pulleys?
  17. The guy we use is a rusted mechanic and we're in West Mids so not exactly 15 mins up the road but thanks for the suggestion, I'm sure someone else might really appreciate such a good value deal!
  18. Well cannot see any signs of change or any stickers reflecting this so I'll get it done. Been quoted £200 labour by our usual mechanic including water pump change with us providing the parts.
  19. Only partial Lexus to 102k miles, the rest are independent sadly.
  20. When I say there's no evidence the belts "ever" been changed I meant more relaistically there's no evidence it's been done recently.....must have been done at some stage....otherwise it'd be taking Lexus reliability to biblical levels!
  21. Just acquired a 2000 'W' reg LS400 with 183k miles and Full Service History. The only issue is there is no evidence of the timing/cam belt having ever been changed, can anyone confirm the period / mileage they should be done at? We've been looking at getting the timing belt done to be on the safe side and we've seen the kits sold at Euro Car Parts which are made by SKF......anyone got any opinion on the quality of them and the water pumps sold by them? Anything I should be looking out for??
  22. Firstly I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Since I listed this intial enquiry I have had part of my dash illumination go dim as well. It's not drastic and I can still see all instruments clearly but the fuel gauge and part of the rev counter have gone a little dim. What kind of a job is changing these bulbs....looks like a nightmare but I may be wrong.
  23. My '94 GS300 has lost any illumination to the vent indication panel and the actual knobs themselves. How do I go about replacing the bulbs to these things?
