  1. I can't resist one but I'm prepared too wait 6 months for the technology to improve as they get updated all the time. My well informed cousin tells me the picture quality starts to fail after about 2 years...so make sure you get an iron cast warranty....the kind that gives you a new TV even if a fly skates across your screen!! Thankfully my wife likes them so ....just another 6 months for the improved model!
  2. Mine were rusty too. Took the car in for my 30,000 mile service and was delightfully surprised :D to have my discs changed under warranty.
  3. I always thought the true figure was closer to 155 bhp which is how I refer to it when talking to the 3 series brigade...hey wots 2bhp when u're talking about power? Handling and grip from the 17 " wheels, character and whole package suits me. Try one for size and u'll be pleasantly surprised.
  4. Didn't realize my choice of colour would cause such a debate. I haven't seen any IS 200 with an unattractive colour. I have seen "look at me yellow" altezzas and a few whites at the IS 200 "Drive" organised by Lexus in the summer of 1999. Really its what beats under the bonnet that counts. I recognize green when I see it. And thats the colour in the eyes of A4/C-class/3-Series drivers at traffic lights accompanied by the occassional thumbs up. I doubt the concerns about resale of red IS 200s. Discontinuance of my colour adds to its appeal. Sorry chaps but......Aztec fire rules ok!:flaming:
  5. I went to 2 Hifi dealers today to upgrade my speakers. I wish to improve the sound quality all round. Second aim was to connect window lifters to my stock alarm. The first dealer advised me to change the speakers all round. He said no way can I add window lifters to a manufacturer's alarm. No scope he said. Second dealer said new speakers without an amp are useless and will make no difference. Recommended a 4 Channel amp (about £100) and then upgrade the speakers. He said I can fit window lifters if the alarm has an output lead with some negative/positive - woteva that means. Said can't be wired to work with a tilt/slide sunroof. Is there really a big advantage in having the amp? Also I'm thinking of retro fitting Satnav and am interesting in hearing an update from members who tried this option and have it working. Is this elusive Pioneer converter still available somewhere? Has someone successfully put in a TV tuner? Will appreciate any advice!!
  6. I've owned my IS200 SE from new and I initially ordered it in silver. Then I saw a Top Gear feature on the car 2 weeks later in Aztec Fire - (Lexus speak for that tasty satin red metallic). I rushed to Lexus to change the colour in my order. I'm still chuffed with the car 36 months later. All nice and polished I don't think there's much out there to touch it! I'm not sure Lexus still offer this colour as the new ones I've seen since '51 Reg are in tomato red...not as good. Good luck!
