  1. As my car is running really poor an IS250 auto I have noticed a number of people refering to cleaning of the egr valve and mass sensor - can anyone explain what these are and what problems can they cause, thanks
  2. Hi not sure if it helps butI bought one of the first is250 and it makes a knocking noise when I turn / brake - turns out its a known problem and its the brakes rattling in the callipers - packing with grease or adding shims is a short term fix - its a known problem - my dealer reckons Lexus are working on a fix - and drove my car with a video camera to record what and when the knocking occurs - not heard anything since but just used to the noise now
  3. I have an IS250 petrol auto 55 reg with 47K on - had it from new and its been perfect - however just recently at speeds of less than say 40 mph it feels like its holding back and kind of chugging is the best way to describe it - almost feels like the snow setting is on sometimes !!! only a milder version . When doing those speeds - it appears to have missfired just once where it jerked but nothing since and that was a few months ago. At motorway speeds it feels fine - mpg doesnt seem to have changed - I have used fuel injector cleaner and am currently trying BG44k - 140 miles in though and it doesnt appear to have made much difference. Before it goes to lexus for diagnosis and a big bill know doubt ( can they just plug it in for diagnosis like Renault do on my wifes car ) can any one shed any light on the problem?? Thanks
  4. I have an IS 250 Dec 2005 model with full multi media - I have a sony phone at the moment and all my contacts are in on the phone book - can anyone tell me will the new iphone sync and work ok - any issues etc thanks
  5. Hi Paulandlouise got the same problem as you ,I was waiting to see if I was going to get the steering recall before I ask Lexus Bristol to check .I will try to get the car in next week and will let you know their findings. cheers Bonny Thanks Bonny will wait to see what they say before booking mine in - spent a long time trawling the web and it seems that it may be the brake pads moveing and they either need shims or copper grease to pad the pads out ???? not sure on any of this so fingers cross you get yours sorted Paul
  6. Please can anyone help - I have a 3 year old IS250 that when i am driving it if I slow down ie braking and turn the steering at the same time it makes a deep squeeking / creaking noise -( its very noticeable when I am braking ( its an auto) and steering slowly into my garage or when slowly driving in a car park over speed bumps but I have heard it when turning quicker . If I dont use the brakes it makes no noise. Both discs and pads where changed by Lexus about 9 months ago. Any help would be appreciated
  7. Hi all had the same problem with mine 4 months ago - took it to my local dealer ( lexus chester) who knew of the problem straight away and fitted an updated control box which is located in the drivers door I believe - they assured me Lexus new of the issue and also promised this would sort it - and so far they have been right !!! no recurrence - still worry every time I leave the car though !!!! Paul
  8. Hi - yes I was told by my local dealer that the is 250 hybrid would be out next year around sept and the 220d would then be discontinued ??? hope this helps...

Paul My new Sony K800i worked eventualy - couldnt find the hands free initially but tried over and over for half an hour then it found it and paired straight away ?? displays both battery and signal ......not sure why the problem as my sons K750i worked straight away ???....worth keep trying it most Sony phones work

  14. I know on US cars you can set the car to lock at 13mph but even though I showed my local dealer a print out from Lexus USA they tell me this is not possible on my model anyone know if this is true ?? many thanks PAUL

  16. Anyone know how to overide the navigation system so my passenger can change it on the move for my uk spec IS250- I have heard of an override but does it work on my IS and can you overide the DVD without all the wire cutting ?? Thanks
  17. Sorry to say this appears to be a problem with the IS range at the moment its down to interference with the radio signal with the car and the fob hence the flashing lights on the fob - park the car ten feet away and the problem probably wont exist - but the rule appears to be if you have a problem locking it dont lock it move your car - I have the problem where if i park it one place on my path I cant get in etc but park it a few feet further and no problem !!!! there are instructions on how to start the car with a depleated battery in the fob and this seems to let you get in and drive away but its a right pain as the alarm goes off while you are trying to start it !!! - Lexus are aware of the problem but dont know how to fix it !!! have spoken to everyone but some tips are : If you cant lock it move the car a few feet away try opening on the passenger side dont keep trying it wait for the light under the mirror to come on so hold the fob near the handle and as soon as it does that try the doors quickly as this means the key has been picked up the interference seems to come and go. and ring Lexus cust serv and moan 01737 367601 and eventually we all may get somewhere !!! Paul..........
  18. It only appears to be on my path at home at the moment, but has been fine for 9 months so not sure why its only just happening- really bothered it will let me down else where surely there must be a fix - I have read some owners have had the transponder units changed - anyone any idea if that seems to fix the problem ?? Just cant believe that Lexus have got this so wrong - i changed from BMW because of poor quality ! Also anyway of stopping the alarm sounding when I use the manual key as early in a morning its beyond a joke !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. My first Lexus and 9 months trouble free motoring but then I come out one morning and the car won't open -so I used th emergency key ( which sets the alarm off until you start the engine !! not good at 7.00 in the morning) I have spoken to Lexus and they acknowledge a problem with many of these cars but they have no answers -except fill in a form - woke up this morning and had problems getting in - :tsktsk: then when in re locking the doors- when i am in it occasionally flashes key not detected ??? - I have tried both keys ?? please has anyone any suggestions as to how to resolve the problem or at least stopping the alarm going off if I use the emergency key -- Many thanks.........
