  1. I've got an IS220d with 15000 miles on the clock. I drive 50% motorwaay (M8) and 50% A and B roads. I've never had less than 44mpg, (unless I used supermarket fuel where it dipped to 34mpg on that one occassion). I fill up with Shell or BP standard diesel and get an average of 46mpg with the AC on constantly or 47.5mpg with it off. I don't drive like an old man or a racing driver and I'm more than happy with performance etc. I've had the ECU mod done (which made no difference) and my injector hasn't been changed. I'm delighted with teh car
  2. Just booked the car in for the service at Lexus Edinburgh and was told that that as well as the service there is a hand break mod to be applied and an ECC update (Car computer I assume) which was described as a "temporary measure" relating to the 5th injector. They also said that there will be another ECC update in the near future. I'm now concerned that my excellent fuel economy (high 40's ) will be knackered. Has anyone had this ECC updated applied that had good economy before it and what was the outcome? Thanks Colin
  3. I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on what I should ask for at my 10,000 service. I have an annoying "crack" sound every so often with the air con ( like a stone hitting the car) is this fixable??? I'm more than happy with fuel economy in my 220d (high 40's since day one using Shell or BP), I'm just wondering if there's anything specific i should ask to be checked? Thanks Colin
  4. After reading many reviews I was very nervous when I took delivery of my IS 220d this month. Having visited the forums and read about sub 40mpg figures, unusable 6th gears and shuddering mirrors I was beginning to regret my decision to go for the Lexus over the usual German suspects. However.................... My new car arrived last week (56 plate) straight out of the box (500 miles on the clock) and I am absolutely delighted. I have a 1hr drive to work in the morning, 30mins on A/B roads and 30 mins on the M8 between Edinburgh and Glasgow. I'm getting a tank average of at least 47mpg on my journey, doing 80mph on the motorway using Shell Diesel, on some days it's been as high as 51mpg?!?!?! 6th Gear can be used at 50mph, and I can accelerate!!!! Although the rear view mirror does shudder quite a bit, but this only last until about 65mph. It seems that what ever issues were prevalent in the early releases have been fixed by Lexus. If any one reading this is think of buying one and has been put off by the poor reviews and early injector issues then don't be. The car is fantastic, and can't wait until the engine wears in a bit and performance improves over what I all ready have. All in all I'm very please that I went for the Lexus as the sea of German metal on the M8 really makes mine stand out. I'd be interested to see if anyone who has got a brand new build has had similar experiences. Colinf1903
