  1. Hi again, I think from what you guys are saying the seat heaters seem to do the same thing in most cases. I may speak to my dealer when I go in next - the fact that they get very hot, go off for 5 or 10 mins then try to cook me again is starting to niggle me - Boy, do I miss my 5-setting ones in the Golf. Sounds as well like maybe my aircon is a bit dicky - To clarify from earlier, I can have it set at say 21 degs, lovely and chomfy, then all of a sudden it's uncomfortably cold. Turn it up to about 24 before I can get toasty. Ten minutes later it suddenly gets really hot then I have to turn it right down etc etc. Seems to use the face vent to regulate the temperature a bit too much on auto as well, I reckon. Pretty sure it's gassed OK, perhaps the temp sensors are rubbered - that's another one for the dealer then. Bah! Have a good one.. Paul PS - Yone - Never thought about the poor spermatazoa. Good call though, apparently a warm toyshop doesn't do them any good. Anyone launched a court action against a car maker yet cos of the heated seats? ;-)
  2. Hi Guys, It's just the fact that the leccy window motors take such a pull from the battery that it temporarily lowers the voltage output getting to the other stuff. Usually worse just as the window motor starts cos it takes a surge of juice to get started. Nothing to worry about, happens with virtually any car, just more noticable with some. Usually only noticable with windows cos they use so much 'lectric, the surge pulls quite a bit of juice from the battery. Have a good one Paul
  3. Hmm, it's annoying, isn't it? They do seem to have a thermostat - they get hot, go out, then come back on when the seat gets cool. Not very good in my humble opinion, definitely caused by a thermostat, methinks. I've only had my V reg IS200 a few weeks, I am well pleased with it apart from the climate control which doesn't do the best job of regulating the temperature (either too hot or too cold), and the seat heaters. I had a Golf GTi before, the seat heaters kept a constant temperature, which could be adjusted. And the climate control did not have to keep being adjusted to maintain a comfy temperature. If I can only ever think of these two things to moan about that's not too bad, apart from the the cars a good 'un. I was wondering if mine had a dicky thermostat, but now I'm not so sure, I think it's bad thermostat design. Have fun.. Paul
  4. Thanks for the info guys, if any of you hear of a good deal for the new CD, please let us know. Mad hatter, mine's a V Reg Sport, Platinum Ice - catch ya around.. Cheers guys Paul
  5. Hi, I've just got a 2000 Is200 with CD-based Sat-Nav. Very happy with the Sat-Nav, but the one thing that surprised me is that the Sat-Nav voice does not mute the stereo, so I have to always keep the stereo down low-ish so I can hear the voice directions. I assumed this was normal, and can live with it, but reading some posts here gave me the impression that the Sat-Nav should mute the stereo whilst giving voice directions. Can anyone please tell me if the Sat-Nav is supposed to mute the stereo? If it is supposed to, then mine must be dodgy, so any advice to diagnose the problem would be appreciated. Thanks guys Paul
  6. Thanks guys, Got my Lexus now, very impressed with it and the Sat-Nav seems great. Definitely could do with a new disc - I'm surprised how often it thinks I am driving accross a field! Always seems to get to there though. Very impressive. Have a good one.. Paul
  7. Cool, thanks mate - can't wait to try out some sat-navving - on test drive it got me from the dealer to my office perfectly, if it's as good as that all the time, i'll be very hp. I have to say, the car they wrap around the sat-nav system seems pretty good as well!!! ;-) Have a good weekend, thanks for your reply.. Paul
  8. Hi Guys, Just bought my first Lexux, a V reg IS200 sport, can't wait to pick it up next week. It's got the VCD-based Navigator system in it. Yummy! The forums look very impressive btw - already got a load of answers from it! I'd like to ask a few questions regarding the sat-nav updates. My dealer has said he will stick the latest CD in it - can anyone tell me what the latest CD version is and when it was released? Does anyone know when the next one is due out? I saw a thread which suggested this month or in January. Are they really only updated every three years or was my dealer having a laff? Also, someone mentioned getting a CD from Europe at half the price - anyone know of a web site where they can be bought on line? Last but one, does anyone know if it is possible to update the sat-nav software to refelect newer functionality? I understand the newer ones are a bit more feature-rich. I'm assuming a new CD won't upgrade the features.. Lastly, is it really as good as it sounds? Thanks for your help guys. Paul
