well I spent 2 years learning Japanese so I'd be pretty stuck if they asked me anything in Japanese lol
-
make sure it will fit your car first tho
as the new style one would not fit in my 99 Is200
the connectors on the back are slightly different

and Welcome to the club Night-Time :D B)

never seen the inside of an RX but if it's anything like the IS200 then the rear speakers count as 2 each as they have a coaxial speaker and sub in one unit but they work indepently from each other :)

its not impossible to do
if you want to keep the sat nav and use an aftermarket head unit you can
but you still need the factory head unit attached to the sat nav to make it work
so you need I think 4 wires the power ones for the head unit and there's 2 signal wires that need to be connected to the lexus head unit too
you can route the sound from the sat nav to your new head unit aux input.
I have seen someone do this on the is300.net site he extended the wires and installed the lexus headunit in the boot out of sight.
a load of messing around but at least it is a solution

Mine has just gone funny since the hot weather, it skips on discs and displays err1 most of the time . :(
I checked and my car is less than 4 years old (just) and Im taking it to see Mr Lexus
so im hoping to have a new head unit soon or buy into getting an aftermarket one perhaps.
-
I got Xbox Live with Soldier of Fortune 2 not the same but hey
-
It's alot cooler today and it still is playing up
Im just hoping my car is less than 4 years old will have to check when i get home

I used hammerite smooth on mine
bright red
really easy to use
but you have to apply extra coats within a couple of hours or else it starts to cure and then you need to wait 6 weeks before you can add more coats
after a few weeks i put on some white lexus stickers and used some clear lacquer to make sure the stickers dont come off
looks really good and is an easy mod to do

Since tuesday when it got really hot my cd player is no longer playing cd's that well
it either just skips thru the cd or displays Err1 on the display
anyone else had this problem?
Certain cd's still play fine and it seems to be CDR's that play better than originals :duh:

we used to stick plastics together at school with a very thin water like glue that stunk to high heven
no idea what it's called tho
but it came in a tin that made it look dangerous
-
I always compare mine with the big public ones and its usually about the same or one deg higher
so based on that I think its acurate-ish
-
there was some posts on the US forums showing the menu's etc and that was on the Lexus LS400 maybe same way for the land cruiser if its using the same system
-
there's a good chance that the language is stored on a chip and can be switched to Eng / JAP with the flick of a dip switch or jumper
but having never seen one of these items im not certain
but worth a look if you have a jap system and can get a decent scan of the circuit board, may also be able to change it with a software setting in the secret options screen.
-
Have a goodun Linda
-
I seem to remember seeing a post on the US forums about the diag screens and they had them translated
could be worth a search
-
can you take a clear photo of the Japanese text?
if so i'll have a go at translating it for you
Hiragana and katakana I can cope with but if its in kanji then im stuck lol
