  1. Yeah it didn't bother me as it was minor up over the top left and tbh I had to really hunt for it as it was a good repair. There was a bit of melting because of the heat on the trim strips, but that was a 5 minute fix as its a body-coloured vinyl wrap. The history was pretty good at Lexus, but there was a receipt for a service at an indy 54k as well as the Lexus service history.

  3. Yeah its a CVT Hybrid. I actually don't find it offensive at all. Seems to spend itself forever idling. I loved my 8 speed in my 460, I always regret getting rid of that car but it gave me a big scare at 3 years old where the VGRS gave up and Toyots wanted £5k plus labour to fix it a week out of warranty. It was around the time when Toyotas were jumping off bridges themselves and they were keen to not have any more bad publicity, so they fixed it gratis in the end. I have to admit I was 50/50 going to get an LS430 again as I always liked that car more than my 460. Yeah I did get a bargain, I felt it the whole way home, everything I wanted and cheap to boot!
  4. This is absolutely true. It usually is, but the way I saw it as a risk was the price was so good that whatever was evident would be fixable, but literally perfect MOT history, full Lexus service and extensive repaint work etc. It felt right. I have had it up on ramps, oil is fresh and other than brake pads needing replaced there is nothing obvious.
  5. Thank you, your sentiments are appreciated, and you reflected my thoughts on the LS500. I just don't think they are as well made or designed. they just don't have that opulence and are trying to compete with Germany, but that's not their market. . Even now I have no squeaks, rattles or anything interior wise. My wife Focus sounds terrible, that and the jarring suspension. My poor back doesn't like it after a long run. Mine growls on startup too, probably a combination of the cat preheater and the high pressure injectors. Normal for the newer engines from what I understand. TO be fair, I have had several Range Rovers and they varied massively, but they were all squeaky, unreliable, broke all the time, and the suspension was never that good. One even blew the bottom end out on the motorway. I have never broken down in any of my Lexus, but I have broken down a dozen times with the RR. Felt like it was a gamble every time you went out whether you would get there or not. I don't miss it. Ive never had a car with a stitched leather dash, so that interesting. Genuinely there is no exposed plastic that doesn't have a leather trim. All I need to find is a Lexus Specialist anywhere form Glasgow to Carlisle. I have a Battery/Hybrid specialist in Glasgow, so that's covered, but a specialist would definitely help. While im ok with the spanners, there are some items that need some specialist, and I don't trust my local garages further than I can throw them. I like you love the air conned seats, just gentle enough. not too cold 🙂
  6. It has a set of balls in the seat so while vibrating you lying down it rubs them up and down your spine, all around the neck and stuff. Im not sure I would spend 16k on it as an add-on, but its kind of cool as well as being able to cool all the seats remotely from the drivers seat on a hot day. I haven't had any complaints other than an asleep child
  7. Well, the story was it was a Limo vehicle, and given it did 2k miles a year and that's borne out by MOT and Lexus service history, it does make sense. Basically he took it to Spain, it got stuck because of Covid, and the temperature was heading north of 52C as well, so there is ever so slight misting of the grill badge from heat. That polished out fine. But he didn't want to take it back there. He also had to buy a car to tow his caravan back there, which was another reason. While I was there he was sure he underpriced it, as I ran down overnight to Stansted the next day. While I was there the phone was going absolutely crazy with dealers trying to snap it up. "I think I underpriced it" he said.
  8. Its actually really good. Im just being really picky. I have had GS300's, LS430's/SC430's 460's and now the 600. Engine not as refined as the 430's definitely, but I thought that about the 460. Control arms are a weak spot and my 460 definitely was heading that way with the tracking going awry and this one while not definitely needing them I can feel it not being quite as smooth as it should be. However everything else is spot on. My 8 year old loves the RSR pack, and hasn't actually sat in any other seat yet. When the Shiatsu is running I keep thinking the engine is running, when its not. Ive been wanting one of these for nearly 10 years since I had my 460. So I've kept an eye out for nearly 18 months, and it popped up. And to be honest I am really pleased with it. The plan is 100% to keep it forever now as there is just no other car like it, and tbh I really don't like modern design and build. Just something just "not there" Maybe Im just getting really old
  9. She has been going great. Massive service history. Genuine mileage. I redid the wheel and new tyres. Turned out it has rc-f front and rear calipers too. if I were being picky it’s probably due some control arms. But that’s me being really really picky.

  11. I just popped by and I was the one who bought it. It’s immaculate. I had an eBay notification on the Monday. Booked the flight for 11am the next day then drove 414 miles home!
  12. I think what is becomign obvious to me with pretty much any car. Warranty Warranty and Warranty! To be fair in the past my Lex have been so reliable I didnt bother with them. Also mine were high mileage and newer than this one. So it really really surprised me when it broke so spectacularly. I think as the current crop LS's age this will become more and more important.   13. Result! Ok, first im going to sing the praises of Lexus Edinburgh and UK. Thanks for sorting it! Thanks Keith at Lex Edinburgh for all your help! The problem,looks like the steering rack went. Needed new electronics, and the upshot is the whole thing needs replaced to a tune of £5500 cough splutter. Anyways, Lexus UK agreed to underwrite the repair and its going ahead and I'll get it back next Thursday. Very unusual for that failure to occur on any Lexus apparently never mind an LS. I think im goign to stay lexus...Lex number 4 is in my future and there seems to be a lot of GS450h's about! Phew! Stu
  14. Hi Everyone, Very odd one. Typical considering the car is just over 3 years old and 2 weeks out of its warranty. Its off to Lexus Edin tomorrow. Im coming up wiht an Error with the VSC, so traction control and the Variable Gear Ratio Steering. Ive done some browsing round and it may be about the inability of the VGRS system to find the centre, so im thinking a steering sensor fo some sort? I cant really think of anything else that would fail in such a way as the power steering is still functional. Just has no VGRS feature so it is stuck on very low ratio and the steering wheel is off centre. Very weird. Any other ideas? Stu.

  17. Sounds like dodgy fuel. I run my SC430 on Tesco 99 seems much more responsive on the throttle and convinced I am getting more power. Paul I tried running it on V-Power today and it is much better. Ill keep running it on that...then im going to have a look at lambda sensors. The only prob has been a long term one for about 10k miles or so. Just not really sure what it is! Stu

  19. Hi everyone, I thought i would unlurk as ive searcghed everywhere for months and not really got anywhere lol. Hopefully someone has seen this before. Ive got a 2002 LS430 with 39K on the clock. No ECU codes are being flagged up. The engine has always had a little bit of a lump to it. Ie when cold it had a vibe through the cabin which was very sypmathetic, ie come, go , come go. This is still evident around 2.5k when warm, and during normal driving conditions. Its not a misfire as such, it just feels like a bad fire, or lumpy feeling. Its been lexus serviced, and all plugs have been changed (which made a big difference- 50% improvement) All the plugs looked clean and in good condition. I noticed last night with the window open, the engine sounds as though it has a wee bit of a pinking noise when under sudden acceleration. It is slight however. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
