  1. The twin turbo supra engine, the 2JZ-GTE, was first used in the JZS147 Aristo (MK1 GS300) so yes you would be able to do a transplant. I'm not sure what gearbox the GS300 has in it but the Aristo has a A340E, they all use the same model number MK3 Supra, MK4 Supra, GS, Aristo, Soarer (I think) and more I imagine. But are slightly different depending on what engine they are bolted to, think the splines are different.

  2. bet you get a lot of plod attention with those sprayed rear lights :P , car looks mint though

They're Hiro tinted light covers so pop off easy enough, must have forgotten to take them off after the last show I attended officer :D

I like the reg....horsepower must be the very devil  Not so stealth with those 'pipes though.

That's the target output figure to restrict it to even though the turbo is capable of much more. The pipes do give it away a little :D

  3. Cheers for the comments guys :D

I have posted it up on the MKIV site previously, I should have more of an update in a week or so's time as more bits will be going on, custom propshaft to mate up the 6 speed Getrag being a big milestone and I should have finished paintng up a shed load of engine parts too to make things all nice and tidy tidy under the bonnet :D

  4. I had this same problem on my old Impreza, it ended up being one of the tyres being slightly fubar which was causing the problem. Worth checking I suppose, I spent ages getting the wheels balanced then checked over again and again only for it to be one of the tyres being slightly warped.

  5. Wow I guess I missed that. Oh well turns out I may be wrong regarding over heating, but then again a car is pushed to it's limits on a track, where if driven on the road I don't think it'd have that same kind of problem? (now that's an assumption based on heavy load on the track). I'm sure Dave (Prolex) and anybody else with a FMIC will be able to chime in here.

In all fairness yoshi's reply I quoted there wasn't posted on these forums (I did say in my p.s), I did try to post the link but for some pathetic reason links to a certain Aristo only forum get filtered out, apparently due to it being a competing forum even though it is soley dedicated to the Toyota Aristo and not all Lexus models and such. Anyway, I digress...

I hoping to get an FMIC in the next month or two, I will post up my feedback once it's in place.

  6. Blocking the rad? Do you track your car? Does Dale track his car? I very much doubt it as that's where you will notice a HUGE cooling problem with regards to having a FMIC in front of the car. Another thing being, our cars actually have a GRILLE which assists in cooling under bonnet temperature, up to an extent, where the Supra only has two side ducts (one for SMIC) and a huge front duct just helping to cool the radiator.

OH another reason I pointed out Yoshi, is because he actually tracks his car AND he has a FMIC and as far as I know he has not had any problems with the car overheating.

Yoshi does have some issues with overheating with his FMIC and when I've previously enquired about fitting an FMIC on a BPU'd Aristo I got the following reply...

I'd avoid a FMIC as it'll give you cooling problems. It will also lag a little.

I've got a medium sized one, but that's just to squeeze out the last hp from my car and get it ready should I mount a bigger turbo. It also cleared space for the ATF and oil cooler, essential for circuit racing. But it blocked the radiator and therefore gives me cooling problems on circuit.

Quest downpipe helps quite a bit, and the TOMS ecu is good too. Your need Type 7 iridium plugs before upping the boost too. That will see you around 340/350hp.

Boost controller the cheapest way to get more power, you'll need your fuel at 100 octane for that BTW + of course the type 7/8 plugs.

That said, I will be fitting one to my BPU Aristo in the not too distant future so should be able to give a first hand opinion rather than speculation.

ps. I would post a link to the original thread that yoshi replied to that I've quoted above but I am unable to due to board restrictions.....

  7. I've ended up just making my own to replace the ashtray. It will fit two gauges, I've only stuck the one in for now but the hole is there for a second one when I get it.

picture and link removed by admin for 'promoting a competing website'.....

It's not quite sitting right at the moment, but will be flush once I've wired the gauge up as it's not currently working.

Total cost about £2.50. Job done.

  8. I suck with photo manipulation and was wondering if someone would be so kind as to swap the alloys over in the images below. I'm thinking about swapping my alloys over and just can't make up my mind if they would loook any good on either car.

Any help with this would be appreciated before I break out the trolly jack. :D

  9. I'd not take my car to Regal I'm afraid, they specialise in chavved up Vauxhall's, I've bought stuff from them before and wouldn't bother again.

Saying that though, they did used to have a guy that worked for them who was a genius with headwork.
