  1. So CD's with MP3's are definately the way to go then...

Anyone have any experience with the Tom system on ProLex that overrides the system so you can use fully when on the move?

Would have thought that would be the solution combined with the MP3 CD's...

I just plug my iPod in. I've only used the in-build CD player once I think

i guess there is always the aux port and ipod (or other mp3 player) option... shame that doesn't get controlled via the touch screen.

I received a card from my dealer telling me the iPod kit (as per Toyota) is available for the IS now. With that fitted the iPod is controllable via the standard controls.

  2. Ahhh, I see!

That is a bit annoying for me too... I lock the doors from inside using the button... When I park up I get out (drivers door unlocks automatically when you pull the handle) and go to open the rear door to grab my suit jacket and its a no go as that door is still locked!

Gotta remeber to use the button to unlock the doors again before I get out!

Its great that this is the only niggle / annoyance I have! :whistling:

I do exactly the same. I think I can count on the fingers of one hane the number of times I've remembered to press the button at the end of a journey. It drives me mad.

  3. Rubbish, no it will not!!

Currently on 52000 & returning an average of 34.6mpg. Mostly motorway mileage

Matus advised changing up @ 2000rpm about 12 months ago but the latest mod (10 days ago) means doing this makes the idle/lumpy.

Yet again really fed up :tsktsk:

That's harsh (the 'rubbish' comment). I've done just over 13k miles, the ECU mod and 5th injector have been done, and I'm getting an average of 40.6 mpg. The car did appear to improve at 10k miles as had been predicted. Perhaps your 5th injector is clogged? When mine was I was only getting 33 mpg at best.

    Just my tuppence worth :)

  4. Welcome to the club. Without question - go for the V6 Auto (and this comes from a Diesel owner). It is quite frankly superb.

And if you're on budget, use www.drivethedeal.co.uk, register when asked (typo's allowed to stop spam) and see in seconds what price you can start haggling with. November is a fantastic month to buy a new car. The dealerships are like graveyards and they can only fail their targets!

    Drive the deal:

250SE Met MM Auto - £27307 (which is what I paid 18 months ago for my 220dSEMM with the £1147 DTD discount :crybaby: )

    220dSE Met MM - £25767

I know which I'd take...the Petrol every time . Good luck...

PS - BTW - the 220d engine is identical to the one used in the T180 (Avensis, RAV4 and Corolla Verso) and not modified other than to allow for FWD (except for the badges...) as far as I know. technically it's the same engine.

    Hello and welcome...

Ummm - what he said really. I too have a 220d, it's a great car and I'm very pleased with it. I just wish I'd bought a 250 instead.

  5. Al,

There doesn't appear to be a reliable site for decoding the Lexus VIN's. ISO 3779 says the 10th should be the code for year of manufacture, but in the case of Lexus it obviously isn't as my car is definitely a 2005 but my 10th is a 0 and the 11th a 5 as is yours and Gra56's. My VIN is (left off the last 6 digits) JTHBK262005xxxxxx.

Chris Shipley can probably put your mind at rest, but you may have to PM him as the decode is obviously a well kept Toyota secret.

Just to add to this. My car was registered in Jan 07, so I expect it'll have been built sometime in the second half of 2006. Looking at the VIN the 10th character is 0 and the 11th is 2. So mine is : JTHBB262902xxxxxx. Like Tango I've not suffered the niggles reported by other posters. I'm wondering whether the VIN could point to a particular production batch for those that are suffering problems.

  6. I just bung my phone into the centre console cup holder. :whistling: I have a spectacle cleaning cloth in the bottom so no rattles. If it faces you it's easy to see who's calling, although it does come up on my nav screen. :winky:

I do the same with cup holder but despite having MM on IS 250 SEL does not display incoming call ID on screen - have over 500 contacts downloaded. Kind of ruins the object if I can't see the name without picking up phone to check who it is and also can't select a contact from complete list on MM whilst driving unless a speed dial (which is limited). Again I pick up the phone to select from address book to dial - how naughty am I??

Any ideas or is this just the way it is?

Mine displays the name of the caller (if it's in the system of course). I'm wondering if there was a setting to make it do it.

  7. Hi guys n gals,

I have had my IS220d for about 3 weeks now and am enjoying it.

I have found recently that if I turn the A/C off my windows steam up straight away. Does anyone else have this problem or does everyone just leave their A/C on?

I live in Leeds so no real need for A/C during the winter months (summer months too, this year!)

    Thanks,

    Drammy

I just leave mine on all the time - but when I have knocked it off, the windows do mist quite quickly.
