  1. Ring Lexus and ask them, when I got mine I tried to programme a key off another IS and had sort of the same problem, got the doors to open but couldn't start the car with original key, I rang Lexus to ask if the immobilser might be affected but they said the immobilser is controlled buy the ignition and not the fob/alarm. I left mine for 20 minutes and it started fine and i've never had any trouble since, I only use the orginal key now.

  2. Have a look here mate:

    Clicky

    Stav

Cheers Stav, but I'm after one without badge, it doesn't have to be full grille replacement just the mesh bit at the back, I've just pm'd Chris will let you know how I get on. Nice one Andy.

The badge on the Sport Grill is only held on by a couple of clips and is very easily removeable.

    Stav

Ok cheers Stav, Chris said he can do them for £50.

  3. Alright mate. By badgeless grill you mean just a mesh one? You can get them from your Lexus dealer for around £30. Or PM Chris.S on here and i'm sure he'll sort you out.

For the interior light. If you mean the one in the middle of the roof then just slip a knife down the side of the plastic cover and it pops off revealing the bulb.

    Stav

Alright Stav. I thought it was prob that easy to do the bulb but not really had much chance to investigate. I'll give chris a try and see if he can help,Cheers Matey.

  4. Does anyone know where in the UK I can get a badgeless grille from? i've seen them on e-bay from USA but don't really want to get one off there just in case the quality's poor, also has anyone changed there interior light bulb? i've seen blue ones that look pretty cool but can't figure out how to get into it.

  5. My dad has run many labor Clubs now and had people coming in trying to sell magnets for the beer line, as the magnetic force re-aligns the electrons of the beer, so it does not stick to the lines so you don’t need to clean them as often "YEH RIGHT", the last club he took over had these magnets installed, surprise surprise they made no difference, They are marketed diffrentley, but they dont make fuel burn better either

ecu-reset, this will reset the catalyst monitoring data and Long and Short Fuel Trim, fuel trim is the adaptation of the ecm for varying sensors and engine efficacy, when the car goes in to closed loop at a given state (load, throttle position, rpm, coolant temp .etc) it expects what the opening time of the injector will be as is changes state, from rich to lean or lean to rich (closed loop) . If the actual opening time is more or less the ecm will add or subtract fuel trim (it learns). what this does is make the car run closer to the correct AFR, if the ecm needs to trim to much it will log a fault and bring on a light . Eg. Bank 1 system too lean. The car will learn very quickly if anything changes.

Ok cheers, i'll save my tenner for fuel then :)

  6. hi,

That sort of mileage seems alright for the IS200, but an ECU reset won't hurt things at all.

You should do a reset if you've changed anything, i.e. added an induction kit, exhaust, etc.

The Magnet thing is assume is the green things on Ebay. I'm sure there was a thread a couple of days ago that mentioned these and apparently there isn't really much solid proof that they work. But if you feel like being a Guineas pig i'm sure we'd all be interested in the results either way.

    Stav

Cheers Stav. I've not added anything new so i'll prob just do a service, I think i'll wait and see if anyone has used the green things off e-bay before buying I think, don't realy want to spend even if it's only a tenner before I know if they work. Andy

  7. Does resetting the ECU really help improve fuel economy? Or is a full service the answer,I get about 120miles out of £20 is this about right? I have upgraded from diesel so don't know if thats why I think mpg is high. Also has anyone seen these magnet things that are supposed to improve mpg by 20% does anyone have them and do they work?

  8. Lots of forgery's on EBay too... oil filters included ;)

peace of mind for a tenner, get it from the dealer....

The one I got is genuine Lex(denso) part boxed sealed and everything, but if your unsure go to the dealer. I only got mine because the bloke had sold his car before he fitted it and didn't need it anymore so just got rid.

  9. andy,

Would you still have the web address for that filter.

Need new one for an oil change soon.

    Thxs,

    Fred

Sorry Fred, I got the filter off e-bay I think he sold his Lex before he used the filter so he just sold it on e-bay.

The only thing I can suggest is keep looking on e-bay there's loads of stuff on there for Lex and you might get lucky like I did.

  10. Just had my rear tyres changed, looked at back brakes while the wheels were off and noticed the clip off the n/s caliper was missing causing the pads to rattle (not good) does any one have a spare one knocking about or know where i can get one other than Lexus?

  11. Had same prob with my 99 about a week after I got it, basically its F :tsktsk: ed, I bought a Sony head unit, from Argos, got a facia plate from e-bay£15, and amp by-pass lead from e-bay I paid £60 but there now going for 30 odd, bit of a T :tsktsk: T to fit but work fine, if you have your music at earbleeding level though you will have to change speakers. May seem a ball ache but I think better than buying another Lexus one for £200 odd and it knackering up again.

  12. hey, my is200 standard changer is messed up haha, the radio plays fine but when i press 'cd' it either flashes then goes straight back to radio, or goes onto the cd menu but does nothing. its weird, i thought maybe i put in a dodgy disc and its jammed it but its really annoying me now.

i was thinking about taking the fuse out... but i dont know if its coded and i dont have the code,

anyone ever experienced anything like this

(i think i caused the problem by pressing eject and load nearly at the same time.. i dunno but it happened after i did that)

thanks to anyone who can fill me in <3 - Si :D

(edit) yes its an err3 message and ive just read up on it, sounds absolutly wonderful, just what i need :@ guess its radio for me for a while then, lol thanks

Had same problem with mine I just bought a Sony head unit and amp by-pass lead of e-bay bit awkward to fit but works very well, if your into playing your music at ear bleeding levels you will want to change your speakers. :excl:
