  1. What sort of price are TintR wanting and is it for both sides and rear from the b piller and rear?

Mine was both sides in front of and behind the 'B' pillar plus the rear screen in Lumar metallised film for 200 notes...probably a little cheaper because Richard of TintR doesn't have to dismantle the rear parcel shelf etc.

Thanks for that Tango thats what i was quoted in Derby. Ive decided to only go from the B pillar backwards so i will give him a call next week for a price because i do rate his work.

P.S at this rate we should get a LOC discount! :)

  2. In all fairness to the dealer they got this info came directly from Lexus GB. So I emailed Lexus GB and asked the same question and all I got back was contact your local Lexus centre for the answer (surprise surprise).

Basically Base models can only upgrade to 17inc SE/SE-L oem, SE/SE-L can upgrade to all 18" oem rims and like wise with the sport.

If any other rims Lexus or non Lexus are fitted then any suspension, steering or brake faults will no longer be cover by the manufactures warranty.

Never heard such bollox, did he make that up all by himself? The 'base' model has always had the option to upgrade to 18" the same as the SE & SE-L (but dealer option so you had to keep the originals).

When I called into Lexus Bristol a couple of weeks ago I was complimented on my non-OEM rims and then shown the new OEM optional wheels they now have available, including 19" diameter alloys.

The thing that really p :tsktsk: ss me off is that i only want the oem sport rims not after market so i can not see the problem!

I also pass the dealers quite alot so they would know if i changed them. Which would mean that i would have to put back on the original rims and take it to another dealer for any warranty issue which defeats haveing a local dealer.

  3. I have been informed from my local dealer that upgrading my alloy wheels will invalidate my manufactures warranty on certain items.

Just wondered if any one who as changed their rims as come across this issue?

  4. that looks great tango, are you taking your 250 to japfest ? :)

That's the plan..although it looks a bit strange at the moment as the sides are tinted but not the rear. Waiting for the back screen to come out for the roof panel to be resprayed in a couple of weeks so I can take it to TintR and finish the job. Much easier to do it off the car (and cheaper) and may as well take advantage of the situation due to the unfortunate dint in the roof

    hey tango

you dont know me mate i'm a newbie on here, i picked up my IS 250 SE MM last friday (luv it) i was just reading your post about your tints. I live in nottingham and have just come back from Richards place (tintr) i asked him if it was the first IS 250 he has done and he said "no funnily enough i did one this week (first one) the bloke came all the way from gloucester and he's coming back because he's got a tiny little dint on the roof and he's gotta have the front and back screen out to get it repaired", he said i hope the rear screen is out when you come as its a b***ard to do. sorry mate thought it was dead spooky listening to richards story then joining this forum and reading it. good bloke richard very professional he's done 3 cars for me now always a good job. Very nice car you have there mate as well thats what i'm working towards, wheels are next know any decent places let me know. cheers mate.

I have used TintR in the past but more recentley used a company in Derby who are now on Pride Park.

  5. I’ve just had Auto windscreens out to replace my windscreen.

The problem is that the new screen they bought had the mirror boss in the wrong place. Mine is located directly under the doted area at the top of the screen and this one was a lot higher in the centre of the doted area and if fitted my mirror would not fit and if it did it would be touching the roof lining.

My first thoughts were that Lexus had changed the design to eliminate that terrible shaking (wishful thinking) but after calling my dealer they said that there as been no such change.

So I thought it must be a third party who have got it wrong but no it was ordered directly from Lexus and even had their name in the bottom corner.

So my question is: where is your mirror situated?

  6. don't want a jag anyway ..old mans car. i want him to buy a is 300 but were not really the matching sweaters type i have a feeling he will go 4 da bema...had a 328i 4 a while..bmw are great cars.but theres so many of them..so common.anyway wouldnt fit kids in da z4.need a 4 seater.already told im no fanny magnets..tee hee

anyway all the women owners in the bleach ur hair blond club :baaa:...if you had 16k what would you buy and why??????????????? thanks 4 advice so far

I wouldnt say that all Jags are old mens car by anymeans. I brought my wife who is 24 a limited edition XS LE estate which looked the dogs bit with 18's, bodykit, tints etc.

But i would still say a BIG NO to Jag because i lost £13K in 18 months which is enough to put me off them for life.

  7. Jamboo,

On that point, I got my 07 model a couple of weeks ago. Do you think at this stage there's any benefit in contacting the dealers to find out if the remap has been done or would all new 07 models come with the new software.

    Thanks,

    S.

I asked the same question to my dealer about my 07 plate and yes it did need re-maping.

I was also informed that there was a new re-mep upgrade coming soon to improve the turbo lag!

  8. Yup, just 3k on the clock, effectively a brand new car. Lexus serviced every 12 months.

Alistair was the salesman - I made him work for his money, though!

It did looked well in white.

They are a top bunch at Derby so iam sure they would have looked after you.
