Yeah that's pretty cool. Until of course you start the car and the display says 'The program has performed and illegal operation and must be shut down'
Very impressive though

Yeah the TDCi engines are good. Are you buying it privately? What Car suggests £1680 for that car or £1880 from a dealer. Why the saloon rather than hatch?
Personally, I'd always ask the question 'why did the car need that amount of work?' Could you be buying something that's gonna cost a fortune? I'm not trying to put you off it, but ask the seller the question.

Why is Alfa Romeo's not on there? They may not be most expensive to repair but they break down alot!
That's the thing, I think the survey doesn't have anything to do with how often the car might break down, only how much it would be to repair if it does go wrong.
So a car that needed a one-off repair of £400 gets put in the hall of shame whereas some less relaible makes that need two or three major repair jobs but only cost £300 per job gets ignored. Something not quite fair about that somewhere.
There's definitely a lot to be said for having a car that's under manufacturers warranty.

I'm also with the Focus. The 1.6 TDCi engine is a gem.

Here it is.
I know it's 64 pages long, but it's so funny it's just worth taking an hour or so to read.

This has been the best thread ever (now beating that one ages ago on the VX220 forum about that crashed VX some guy called Imran was trying to sell).
Any chance of a linky?
I'll have a look - see what I can find. Watch this space......
It was hilarious!

Happy birthday Gord. Wish you many more. :)

When I had my IS, I only had a rattle when Mrs Coyote was in the car too. Come to think of it, the same noise is there in my new car too.... Hmm.......

I thought any car with a Volvo badge would be up your street Keith.
If I was given a brand new Volvo, I'd set a record for how quickly it was on the market for sale.
Then funds received would be spent on something not so Volvo like.
Can you tell I have ridden motorcycles in my life @ some point ?
PMSL! Quite right!
However don't knock it until you've tried it. There's something about driving a big Volvo that makes you feel just a little bit nice and safe. And please no comments about it would never be driven fast enough to have an accident! I'm looking at you Wozza!!

Anees, you're a legend in your own lunchtime! This has been the best thread ever (now beating that one ages ago on the VX220 forum about that crashed VX some guy called Imran was trying to sell). I'm happy everything worked out right and you proved all the sceptics wrong. I take my hat off to you sir. Well done :)

As a lot of people have sold up recently, I'm just curious to know why people finally made the jump. Was it fuel economy? Road tax? Also, why did you choose what you replaced it with?
My reasoning for leaving Lexus was fuel economy and I wanted something more luxurious and more modern.
Chose the Volvo S80 for it's luxury and safety.

Hehe, I like that - they're still screwing you but at least they're smiling when they're doing it
I always feels with smaller businesses they have a lot more to lose and generally go the extra mile to keep customers happy. Not just with cars but with everything - I'll use my local hardware store far more than the major chains and so on.
If there's one thing the S80 has in spades it's luxury - I only picked mine up on Friday and I just love it!
-
I've just gone exactly the same way and taken delivery of a Volvo S80 2.4 D SE Exec Geartronic in Titanium Grey. It's a lot better in many respects than my Lexus and I can't say I was treated any better at the Lexus dealership - I was treated almost like royalty at Volvo. I think a lot of people buy Lexus with customer service in mind yet don't always realise that other manufacturers are quite as good. Mrs Coyote has bought Skodas for the past few years and the salesmen almost bow down when customers walk through the doors!!

Ouch baby, ouch!!!

Clearly I could try and sell it privately but trying to shift it could be a mare
Which it almost certainly will be. I'm very biased against trying to sell privately - in my opinion it's not worth the hassle.

The suspense is killing me - I'd have offered to come if I hadn't got prior arrangements today!!!

It's not overheating because the fans are operating to stop it overheating - if they didn't come on at all, then it might overheat. I'd say it's probably totally normal.

Maybe this is her and her 'posse'?

If you can't get the swirl marks out, try this website - should provide you with a solution.

I guess it depends on what you wanted to buy. Some things are different, yet the cars are built on the same platform so some things should be fine. What were you thinking of buying?

A touch screen sat nav/radio/dvd with a bod of $0.99 and no reserve? Don't you think that just sounds a little bit too good to be true?
Also maps are US anyway.

It could be called 'Loyal but Lexusless' or something hehe

You know, I know what you mean. Sometimes it's how badly a car does something that makes it good.

Ok I didn't read the first post properly. I read it as the engine was replaced after 25000 miles. Sorry.
If it's done 100,000 miles then it could feasibly be that it was a death due to old age. Ask what kind of miles it has done. 100,000 miles up and down a motorway isn't excessive yet 100,000 miles pootling around towns in stop start traffic and running cold would make it's 'wear age' much greater than it's physical age.
Why did he spend that much money on it when the car was worth less than the cost of the repair? Could it be that the car has been very good and the owner didn't want to get rid of it?
I'd just ask the questions - have you got anyone you know who's a mechanic to look over the car before you buy it? If not, I think the AA offer that service.
