Loss Of Power Is 220
debgreg replied to debgreg's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Well ive had a service done and ive also started to use low sodium diesal however there is still an issue when in lower gears, anyone got any ideas what it could be? -
I just put mine in for a service and asked for the fuel filter to be changed, they couldnt get the screw undone and said it was in a really awkward place. They said the housing might crack if they carried on, so i said to leave it as it has only done 33,000 and they said it wasnt really due to be changed, however there still seems to be power issues when in low gears, not sure if the fuel filter would have made any difference?

checked it out and the Turbo does not kick in under 180, i think it is because the 30k service is due, going to book it in for a service and see if it improves. I notice it goes worse when the air con is on so it could be linked with the pollen filter issue. -

It is due for a service could it simply be a filter issue? -
Driving home today from the Lake district today, the car was its usual sluggish self when starting ,however it didnt get any better and i could hardly get it up the hills (had to go into first a few times) it seemed as if the Turbo wasnt kicking in. it seemed ok on the flat but as soon as there was an incline it slowed right down. It is out of warrenty now and i just wondered if any knew what it could be? Also It went in at Xmas for the steering fix on the recall, are there any recent recalls due as i didnt know about that one until that VCO or what ever it is message came on? thanx

Indicator Issues
debgreg replied to debgreg's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Yep mine is when turning left also, fine on right turns Did have this problem on my pug when new, but I took it in and they rectified it, maybe i'll just have to remember to check on left turns -
Hi all I have noticed a few times that the indicator does not cancel when turning . I don't mean a slight turn, I mean when turning a corner I have had to manually cancel it . I have done a search, but can't find anything , just wondered if this was another issue/ trait of the car and do I need to get it back to the dealers Debi

Mirror Rattle Fix

Gave it a good run today , stereo loud, no vibration ,will reserve judgement until after a motorway drive, but it does seem quite solid, may be worth contacting your local dealer if you have a vibration and get them to order you one. Also whatever they did regarding the fuel consuption it has gone up from an average of 27.7 to 33.6 around town Debi -
Hi debgreg (I assume you're Deb)... yes you are right. The perforamnce potential thing I refered to was the acceleration to pop into a gap (ah those wonderful BMW drivers :) - I will miss that). I *still* think BMW makes more financial sense, but (and you may not have seen my edit in the original msg) but my wife called me up in a humph, in the rain. "There are so many idiots on the road today in this rain. And I saw loads of BMWs. I want exclusivity in the next car." - I couldn't beleive my ears so obviously had to proceed with tact and caution. She went on "I hardly see any Lexuses, we should get a Lexus!" - is this a test question I wondered to myself. SO I told her all the benefits of the BMW (read "BMW plus points" in my post above) and it came down to her saying "yes it's more expensive, but it's exclusive, we should get the Lexus!". So, my fears of her testing me are over - we are getting a Lexus, I guess. She wants black, who am I to argue. But they're not cheap and out of my price range but I'll see what kind of deal can be done. Better stop typing and make a few phone calls. I really realyl should blog this shouldn't I? Thanks everyone for your opinions, keep 'em coming and perhaps see you in a club meet some time. Hi Mustang (it's not Sally is it ;) ) if you are going for new you should read Jambo's previous tips on how to get the best price using Drive the deal. If you are looking at pre owned there are some bargains around you just need to be patient. When i was looking for mine DTD price was around £27000 for a 250 SEauto with MM, this is not far away from what some wanted for demo's before you plumb for the black you should let your other half look at the Mesa Red in the flesh  with the beige Oakham leather i would say it is a hard combination to beat (especially from a womens perspective ;) ) the red actually glistens in the sun and everyone who has seen my car comments on the colour and how fantastic it looks with the beige interior. If you do go for the Lexus I am sure you will be more than pleased and the MM makes it just that little bit extra special. Debi

I would just like to add my twopeneth worth from a women’s perspective. I have two friends, one has a C-Class Merc Sport (black/ black leather ) the other, a new BMW 320d sport (space grey/ black leather) I myself have a Mesa Red/Beige Oakham (soft luscious leather compared to theirs) Lexus with MM . When we go to the gym together which of the three do you think stands out B) Which is more aesthetically pleasing  . As for performance please do tell where these cars are able to be driven to test them to their full driving potential??? All three cars are beautiful and are beautiful to drive, however only one stands out from the crowd

Ok I have just had a phone call from Lexus Stoke after my moan about the mirror. They have informed me that Lexus have acknowledged a fault in the design of the Mirror and as of last week a new design is available and they have ordered one for me which will be fitted next week Service is going to ring me tomorrow to arrange a collection/car for me whilst they do the swop, they will also look at the windscreen chip whilst its there. I will keep you posted. Debi

Windscreen Chip
debgreg replied to debgreg's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Hi Debs (again), Rich Bee's experience with autoglass is not uncommon. I was unfortunate enough to use them a few years back, replacing a cracked windscreen after an accident. Went though my insurance, they took all of the details etc etc. ... insurance paid them ... and they then proceeded to sue me for the cost, that they said was unpaid. W :tsktsk: s the lot of 'em. So be careful before going through your insurance, they may send you down the Autoglass route. Depending upon how big and where the chip is, the screen may not need replacing/repairing. If it's not in your eyeline and not bothering you, then i would say leave it until it absolutely does need action. If you want it repaired, I'd take it to the dealers (Tell them you don't trust anyone else etc etc) Cheers Bern (PS. from your last post ... 'I bought my other half the Carlack/p21s etc' ... should this not read 'I bought Carlack/p21s etc for the car' ?) :winky: Hi Bern It is only a tiny chip but I was worried it may get worse. Might speak to the dealer again and see what happens. As for buying the Carlack for the car, I was right fist time, I bought it for him to enjoy being part of the experience , coz he will hardly ever get the chance to drive it so he needs to feel included -

Hi Debi, Back on topic after the boys have been to Santa Pod to see which is faster! Stoke ... very nice of them. If you are not satisfied, perhaps try Manchester/Stockport/Bolton as these are all nearer and are owned by the same group. I use Bolton myself ... excellent service. Liverpool ... well, enough said. I had the same pre-sales experience and also very poor service when I had my IS200 so I would not go there again. I sure hope the Liverpool Dealer principal reads this site! Cheers Bern Hi Bern I know , shame about Liverpool as it is only about 15mins from where I live and it would be so convienent for me. The last contact I had with them was when I had seen a car I was interested in on the Lexus website, which stated was available through Liverpool. I phoned to enquire about it and they said someone would phone me back,I'm still waiting :tsktsk: I do love the car though :D I bought my other half the Carlack/p21s etc, he had a go at the weekend but then it rained, :tsktsk: weather. Debi -
Hi All I have just noticed a small chip in the windscreen (just above where the wipers are) I am not sure if it was there when they delivered the car, but I suppose thats bye the bye now. Anyway, after doing a search on here I was horrified by some of the tales about Autoglass doing repairs and the windscreeen cracking Now i don't know what to do Are there any other firms that anyone can recommend to do the repair? If it cracks during the repair are you liable for the excess? and would I be better leaving it as it is or getting it repaired. Seen as lots of you had a really good time argueing on my last thread (220 V 250) I think you should all help me out on this one Cheers Debi

Mirror Rattle
debgreg replied to debgreg's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Cheers Jambo I will contact Stoke and ask about the 5th injector. The car defo has power when it gets going ( I was doing 80 and I thought I was doing about 40 ) I have got used to the gear change by altering my hand position (palm facing away from me) when changing for 1st to 2nd. When the turbo kicks in its like taking off in a jet Its just the initial pull (is that the flat spot?) when the car is in 1st. -

Hi Bern I actually got the car from Lexus Stoke ,as I found Liverpool to be C :tsktsk: p. Everytime we went, there were different salesmen,no one would phone back, not good before purchase service so what would after be like Looked hard and fast for a 250 auto but couldn't get one at the right price. I am thinking of keeping this for about 18mths then throwing it in on a newer model. Car does have MM but still vibrates, do love the car though. Will ask about the injector. Stoke have offered to collect/deliver the car for any service/warrenty work. I was going to just take it to Liverpool (easier really) what has your experience been there like?? thanx Debi -
Hi All Drove the car on the motorway for the first time yesterday, stereo on,definate vibration in rear view mirror. Now I know there has been much discussion over this, but they told me they had sorted it before I picked it up. Is this vibration something I will have to live with or has anyone had it totally sorted? The other thing is how do I know if the 5th injector had been replaced? The average fuel consumption at the moment is showing 27.8 ? I have drove it mainly around town, don't know about previous owner. Seems a little sluggish taking off,but not sure if this is a trait of a diesal as I have always driven petrol cars. Thanx Debi

It's Here At Last
debgreg replied to debgreg's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Will post some pic's once my other half has give it the carlack/21 go over and I work out how to get the pictures from there to here -
Well it's finally arrived and I have to say I am in love again (for the first time in years ;) ) The colour is Lush, the red and cream just work together so well. Gave it a real close inspection, two small stone chips, one above passenger side rear door (odd place I thought) and a small one on the front bumper. A few small scratches on the rear bumber and on the very bottom of the front skirt (if thats what its called) Other than that it looks like a brand new car both inside and out :D Apart from the slow acceleration, say when pulling onto a roundabout,( never driven a Diesel before) and getting used to second gear :o I Love it. Listened/Watched Pink Floyd (showing me age) I can honestly say I haven't been so excited about a car since I had My 2 litre Capri back in the 80's :D
