  1. Thanks for that. I have used the 'Help' feature before and did not see any commands for the climate control. I can only assume that (for whatever reason), the UK cars do not have these feature - just like USA versions have extra features on their navigation systems. I think I will contact Lexus UK and ask them. Nothing like a definitive answer!
  2. Thanks for the command list. I treid to control the Climate Control by voice on my 2007 RX350 - but to no avail. It just looks for POIs that it thinks sound the same. Its a mystery to me that in the 2006 RX sales brochure, it says it has voice command for the climate - but perhaps that is just a mistake. Nothing in the owners manual about it that I could find.
  3. Hi, I would like a list of the voice commands too please. I have a 2007 RX350, and the UK sales brochure from 2006 says that you can command the climate control. I could find no reference to these functions in the manual, and the sat nav functionality seems to be different from the demo on the US website. What climate commands can you give on the 2007 RX400h you refer to - would love to know?!
  4. It is very straightforward. My installer had the section of the centre console below the touch screen out. Unfortunately I was making him a cup of tea while he has doing it so I didn't see how it was done ! Somebody here is bound to have tried though ! Piece of cake - look through these forums and there is an explanation with photographs. In summary though: 1 remove gear knob by unscrewing it 2 pull up the wooden/aluminium (400h) trim from around gear shift 3 reach under panel with the cigar lighter socket/heated seat switches and pull forwards 4 remove 4 bolts that hold radio in with a long socket (tricky bit as 2 bolts are high up so you need to get down low to look up and see them) - would advise magnetic socket or chewing gum in socket to make sure you don't drop the bolts 5 pull radio out - have someone help you sitting in the passenger seat as an extra pair of hands is useful at this point 6 unplud radio from car wiring loom, plug Vaistech loom into radio back, plug car loom into Vaistech loom 7 follow instructions to program/set mode on the Vaistech 8 refit Incidentally, you can put the Vaistech box in the passenger footwell of the RX at the bottom of the dash, at the front of the tranmission tunnel. It is easy enough to get the wiring from the glovebox to the box of the tricks and back up to the radio.
  5. I would be interested to know whether the E10 updates work in the RX too as you do seem them on Ebay from time to time. Problem with the Lexus map updates site is that it only gives Lexus part numbers - not the same as the codes printed on the DVDs. Dealers seem to say that discs are not necessarily interchangeable from model to model, but I do not know whether that is true. Though the 2007-2008 E10 discs (set of 4 DVDs) are available on Ebay, I believe that they will be superced around November time which is when (dealers tell me) that new versions are released. I am sure that an iS220D I had as a courtesy car had 2007-2008 E10 version 2 discs, but ones on Ebay said version 1???? All a bit of a mystery - so I will look out on the updates site from November onwards to see if there is a 2008-2009 version offered.
  6. Just go to your dealer and order one. They are about £150 + VAT for the front pair and £100 _ VAT for the rears. I have a brand new set of two front ones going spare, for the Mk2 Oakham interior, but for the Limited Edition (non-illuminated) and that is about what they cost if I remember correctly.
  7. Really good question. I had an RX300 (2005) and now have an RX350 (2007). In the RX300, I used to get around 23 mpg around town and 28 mpg on a 70-80mph motorway run. My around town driving is in West Yorkshire with a mix of roads, many of them hilly. Generally, I always got 250-260 miles on a brimmed tank. In the RX350, fuel economy seems to be marginally better around town when driven with care yielding 23.9-24.0. On the motorway, it seems to be closer still to the RX300, but overall, I am getting more like 270-290 miles to a brimmed tank. There is also the advantage of having 270 bhp over the RX300's ~200 bhp. What I will say is, both cars do seem to be sensitive to how they are being driven, though I never got anything worse than 21 mpg or 250 miles on a tank with any of them. I do try to be a gentle driver and plan my drive without having to step between brake and throttle all of the time, but then I am not stuck in bad stop-start peak hour motorway congestion every day. Also, my experience with Lexus cars is that they tend to improve on fuel efficiency and power once the first 10,000 miles is over. I can only out that down to the engine bedding in more and loosening up.
  8. I had an RX300 (2005) from Lexus Leeds, and now an RX350 (2007) (not from there). RX300: Leeds put a phone kit into my 300 2 weeks after I got it. A rattle became apparent and then took the dash out to do the warranty fix, and marked it in the process. the rattle was still there after all that. When I sold the car, I took the phone kit out the day before it went, and the rattle stopped! I blame the fitting of the phone kit and in particular the cable that fed the speaker flapping about on the inside of the dash. Lesson: think twice about anyone taking your car apart, especially removing and replacing the whole dashboard. RX350: I had a rattle from the centre of the dash but it took me some time to track down. It transpired that the radio part was where the rattle was coming from. After a couple of attempts at tightening their fixing bolts, the radio is in so tightly that it is no longer rattling. May be you should look at taking the radio and air con units out and refitting them. A simple enough job for anyone who can use a socket set.
