  1. Now done 2500 miles in my 220d sport and I am utterly dissapointed with MPG. My tank average is 27mpg. Yes it's new, yes it needs time to bed. But come on, this is the forth brand new diesel I have had and none of them were this poor to begin with. Yes I agree it will improve over time but not to a level that is acceptable for a diesel. May well have gone for the petrol with an auto! Yes I hate the manual gearbox, how on earth did quality control let that through I will never understand.
  2. Right, worked it out, I think? There are some new roads around my home that are not on the lexus maps yet. When I use them to get home the sat nav is completely confused and the triangle keeps turning. Even after I pull onto my drive (which can be access by the new road and the road that the maps have) and wait it take around 10 minutes to figure out where I am! If I drive off straight way after coming home the wrong way (according to the sat nav) and drive to another destination it is still trying to work out where it is. After leaving the car stationary it's back to normal and starts navigation automatically. This is my theory, I have managed to replicate it successfully once!
  3. That's the thing no destinations has been input when you first take the car out, none that are incomplete either, I have just driven as normal to a location, without any guidance, parked up. When I have got back to the car guidance starts straight away. I will try delete all destinations tonight and see if it does it again.
  4. I have had 3 BM's in the last 10 years and really enjoyed owning all of them. The first one I had, the service from Sytner Leicester was fantastic, by the Third one it was rubbish. At this point I told the dealer principle that they are not as customer focussed as they used to be. He told me they are busier than they used to be and selling more cars, no one is complaining, "Is there anything else I can do for you sir?" (It was a little nicer than that, but he was just going through the motions!) I did go in and test drive a 3 series before I decided on the Lexus, and the salesperson just didn't have the passion or the knowledge about the car they were selling! I did everything the BMW way and rang up and made an appointment. I got a 20 minute test drive and a brochure. They did call me several times to see if I was still interested. Went to Lexus un-announced, was treated like a king, shown the car, offered a test drive, and given a car for half a day, handover was brilliant.
  5. Hi, My Lexus is almost a month old and the MM Sat Nav is acting strange, on several occasions I have got in the car to drive off and a destination has already been set, and route guidance starts automatically. On all the occasions this has happened (5 times now) I have driven somewhere without using the sat nav, just had the map screen displayed. Once I return to the car (can be minutes or hours) a location is set and it starts route guidance straight away. It seems to be choosing locations to guide me too from the memory locations I have stored. What was really freaky on two occasions it actually started guiding me to where I wanted to go. Now I know Lexus is good but, mind reading? Surely MM hasn't got that? Any one else had any issues? :D
  6. I would have gone for an auto (if they did one in the Diesel!) Considering how much effort Lexus has put into the rest of the car it seems a real let down. Was the IS200 the same, could anyone comment? Maybe they have just rushed this into production and we will see a change when the mid life 'tweak' is done. I don't know but correct me if I am wrong (I am sure someone will ) maybe it is just the lack of experience of manufacturing rear wheel drive cars? Sorry Paul still doesn't answer your question on cleaning! B)
  7. Hi, Not sure on your cleaning question, but in relation to the gearbox. I have just purchased a IS220 Sport and feel the gearbox is very notchy and springy between 1st and 2nd. There is a definate clunk (prop shaft maybe?) when you change from 1st to 2nd unless you are extreamly careful with the clutch. I had a demo car for a day before I purchased mine, it had done 6K miles and was much worse than mine is, I did ask the dealer about it and he felt that there was a problem with the demo and assured me that the gearbox would be top notch. I have traded up from a 56 plate golf GT TDI and the gearbox on that was very smooth. I have since tlooked around the internet and the biggest critism (from roadtest's) the Lexus gets is around the gearbox. It is irratating, but something that we may just have to adapt to.
  8. Thanks for your replies! Picked her up yesterday, what a fab car! Sat on the drive for a few hours last night playing with all the toys on the multimedia. I have got to go to Manchester on Sunday, and I am actually looking forward to it! Well okay just for the drive up there and back! I have been reading about all the creaks and noises other owners have been having with their cars on the forum, none yesterday, although the engine cooling fan is very loud when it comes on, is this normal? I shall post some pics when I get a chance. Can't wait to clean it either! :D
  9. Hi Everyone, just joined today and pick up my new IS220 D sport with multimedia tomorrow! Can't wait First time as a Lexus owner, although my Father has had a LS400 for over 10 years now! Never let him down once over 200k miles on the clock. Hopefully I will be as lucky, trading up from a Golf Mk5 GT TDI that has been nothing but trouble for the past 6 months!
