  1. :excl:My black IS200 auto (V - Sept 1999 & 90000 miles) has a small clump of rust bubbles appearing above the windscreen (edge of roof) on the passenger side. The main man from Lexus had a good look and pronounced that it was due to when the windscreen had been changed (not during my ownership) and they had been ham fisted with the "cheese cutter" that they use to break the bonding on the old windscreen. Anyone else come across this problem?
  2. I had exactly the same problem on the front passenger side. Man from Lexus had never seen it before so they changed it for free (3 yr ols IS200 auto) Its a plastic handle with a thin "chrome" covering so I don't think filing will make any difference.
  3. A few days ago I posted the problem of the electrics dying on me, the outside temp showing as "-E" and the "Snow/Pwr" switches failing to function - all at the same time! (26 days after extended wty ran out!!) Well, today I went to get it diagnosed. The H&V problem is diagnosed as being a faulty "Amplifier a/c" part L88650-53010, and guess what - its only £504 or £682 with VAT & fitting. As to the "Snow/Pwr" switches failing to function they are not even part of the same circuitry. In the 17 months that I have had the car I have had a new radio/CD fitted under warranty and 5 new wheels begrudgingly fitted free. Oh and 3 tyres wore oddly as the tracking went out - twice. Am I just unlucky or are all Lexus this prone to failure? Does anyone know where I might be able to get this part cheaper or perhaps from a scrappy? Or is there some other solution?
  4. As I said in an earlier post my heat & vent controls suddenly ceased to function last week, the outside temp indication went to "-E" and the "Snow/PWR" buttons also ceased to function - all at once. I had it looked at today and the answer is that the control box for the heat/vent is not working. A small matter of £781.00 to fit a new one. The "Snow/PWR" buttons problem are in no way connected with this and so must be due to a second fault! They are tied in with the ABS system apparently. I have had this car for about 17 months and in that time it has had 5 new wheels and a radio/cd player changed ?under warranty? and the tracking has had to be adjusted twice because the tyres were wearing oddly. As someone who has driven Toyotas for many trouble free years what on earth have I let myself in for! Apart from all that any one know where I can get reasonably priced spares or perhaps one from a breaker?
  5. Thanks Guys - I guess I'll have to 0 will let u know what it was
  6. Last night when I parked the car everything appeared to be working OK. This morning when I started the car the "Outside temp" reads - E, the heated rear window button/aircon button/fan button do not function & are not "lit". All other electrics appear OK. (Clock, windows, radio, cig lighter) Is there a fuse that would cover these specifics & if so where is it & whats it called??? (Had the radio/CD changed about 5 months ago so unlikely to have disturbed a connection after all that time?) Also had 80,000 service about 2 months ago. All help greatfully received
  7. I have just paid £610.00 inc vat for an 80,000 service on my IS200. This included fitting 5 new wheels (but not the cost of), new rear brake pads, new wipers and an optical wheel alignment check & adjustment. I delivered the car ar 8.15 am and had to wait until 7pm before it was completed!
