  1. Its the same with the old IS, they can be bought for peanuts nowadays.

I drive a IS200 which is nearly 7 years old now, with 93k on the clock, probably isn't worth much to a dealer/trader, so I've decided to run it until its dead, besides I'm not too keen on the looks of the new IS.

Have you tried to sell privately rather than p/x? You get more for your car this way.

A few on eBay private and trade going for around £17 - 18K on 03 and 53 plate, have a look on the Lexus GB pre owned website and you will see that O3 plates are a lot higher than the 14K you were offered, which dealer as i think they are taking the p***, name and shame.

  2. Great idea i want one, are you offering group install!!!!! :winky:

how much cars should be modified? should i fly in on monday next week?

no seriously, if somebody is really interested i will come up with a self install instruction (i did it already in german language, so i only have to make an english version).

and with that you can either do it yourself or go to your mechanic and let him do it. the cost of the material needed will be around 80,- EUR

so let me know if i should do the english version.

If you can do an English version it would be great.

    Thanks

  3. I'm not sure if there are any dealers in Norway, if so and they are near it may be worth popping over with the vehicle to see if they can try the EU disk in the vehicle while you are at the dealer to see if it works, if so you know that you can then purchase one and it will work ok, otherwise if it doesn't work you know you have to buy an aftermarket system.

You could also try contacting them on this link:

Do not pay dealer price, go here and enter the required info, i just received latest disc £200 cheaper than any quote i have had from dealers. http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/

That's strange.I just paid £120 for the latest disc from my Lexus dealer. That means by your calculation your Sat Nav disc cost you minus £80

Now that's what I call good value for money.

No it cost me £80 which by my calculation is £40 cheaper than yours

  4. its terrible whats happened in this case as its clearly not your fault, but i think its equally as clear that banks treat people how they like, the general rule seems to be if you are a valuable customer(ie LOADED) you get special treatment, all charges waived no matter if you are at fault or not and if you are a poor customer(ie NOT LOADED) then they treat you as they like, which is pretty bad,but its the way society has been for a long time, its also gonna get much worse as we head into a two tier society,ie landowners/homeowners and then everyone else.

Whats that old saying "life is like a sh*t sandwich, the more bread you have the less sh*t you have to eat"

  6. Just had mine serviced and MOTd. Got the phone call to say new front pads needed as worn down unevenly. Pointed out that they had replaced the discs and pads last year only 8500 miles away so that sounded like poor original installation. Suddenly they skimmed the discs and put new pads in foc. Had to have new discs and pads on back but i was expecting that at 70,000.

It does reduce your faith in the service provided. It was a Lexus dealership.

I think you should name and shame, i had a similar problem with the dealer who is not a million miles from you

  7. I also went looking for the rattle behind the centre speaker. The speaker grill can be prised off and the speaker is held in with 2 x 10mm bolts. Lexus offered to remove and refit the dashboard with new packing, stating that the packing had compressed, and sure enough the rattle went away for some considerable time. It recently returned and I've put a couple of small pieces of foam at the very front between the dashboard and windscreen which has again stopped the rattle completely.

Are the nuts on the bolts secured, i do not want them to drop down when the bolts are removed.

    Thanks

  8. Got my car back this week - sooner than expected. Apparently the parts arrived early.

Didnt get any champers, nor my tank refilled - just a big bill for the service it originally went in for.

Oh, and they got 3/4 tank of fuel free of charge that I put in their loan car.

Looks like Im some sort of Pariah!

Who was the dealer you should name and shame as it is Lexus GB that are paying for all the freebies.

  9. it's not just Lexus though. my dad brought last week a Merc CLK It has done 11K is a year old but because my dad has private plates you'd asume it was brand new.

He paid £23k for it at Merc Lough and he was told, becuase he is a good customer (used the same guy for the last 8 years), the previous owner paid £39k for it brand new, I did spec it online and the price is correct.

So the previous guy had lost circa £20k in a year!

If your bothered about re-sale buy a porche boxter, New Mini or an audi tt new shape, even then it's still going to lose alot of money!

    Craig

I think everybody expects to take a hit on a new car, my gripe is that mine according to the man with the book has lost 12K in 15 months 3 years into it's life.

  10. what's to be shocked about, dealers always give ludicrously low part exchange values.. if you sold the car privately, you would get more than 16k for it...

you would get low part exchange values offered by audi, merc, beemer etc..

Maybe so but i feel there is a difference between commercial discussion / negotiation and out and out insult.

  11. Just had my MK2 RX 300 SE-L 60K service and whilst in the showroom enquired about moving up into a RX350, the shock of being told that i was looking at £16K on my vehichle was enought to spoil the day, i paid £28K for it not 15 months ago, is anybody else having similar problems.

I am thinking of moving on from Lexus now based purely on the poor re sale values that appear to being offered, premier brand s*** investment. :tsktsk:
