  1. Glad to see the owner membership growing - I think up to 4 of us now ! I believe the update increases the range by reducing the buffer with some other software improvements including reducing the dramatic indicated loss in range for using the aircon / heating. When was your car manufactured ? The cars built late 2023 had the update installed at he factory - that may be why you seem to be achieving 3.0 miles / kw ! I think it is a fault with the design but maybe it’s just my car - can you have the fan on without the a/c and so the indicated range doesn’t dive ? In my case, having the a/c button on r off doesn’t make a difference. Pleased to see a favourable review by someone who has driven the car for more than 30 minutes or read American reviews. I posted an extract from Car Magazine which you may find of interest to quote when the Tesla fans deride the RZ for lack of range - https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/145762-diminishing-range-on-a-full-charge-and-slow-charging-rates/?&page=2#comments
  2. I came across a very detailed review and comparison in Car Magazine. A UK magazine so without the American bias. I found it very interesting seeing the ‘official ranges’ versus their actual test ranges. They tested in fairly cold conditions with heating on at reasonably fast driving. The Polestar particularly, makes the RZ (especially after the upgrade) look a much better option
  3. Luckily I haven’t had any probs with the charging cover. My car was delivered last May. I’ll ask if they can provide my locking wheel nuts next week. Somehow I managed to bend the ‘Lexus’ scuff plate on the drivers door cill. Did some research and found a supplier of genuine Lexus parts - if you ever need any parts or accessories give them a try, the service has been fantastic and you know it is the correct part as they use the VIN to ensure it is and it comes in Lexus boxes - https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk Must be well cheaper than through a dealer.
  4. Mine is in for the update next Tuesday - the dealer offered to collect or I can go to them and have a curtesy car. I suspect it was this that pushed the booking until next week. I’ll be really interested to see if both of you report a real increase in range and particularly a great increase with the heating on.
  5. John. My average is 2.9 miles / kw over 6k with about 60% at 70+ on dual carriageways and some air on / heat
  6. John. I am sure there is something amiss with your charging / battery. If it’ll help, I’ll keep a log so you can show Lexus your car is not providing the range it should. I shouldn’t, but on our local dual carriageways (about half my journeys) I drive at 70(+) preheat and then only have heat on for demisting. I have set the auto seat heating at +2 and find that with the auto radiant warm enough - luckily no back seat passengers or drivers. The Cross Climate 2 tyres haven’t seemed to effect the range - they certainly feel to provide a lot more grip.
  7. During the very cold spell and a fair bit of dual carriageway driving mine is showing about 195 to 200. Screen shot - 186 at 95% so about 196 at 100%. The miles driven was 10 so again 196. The temperature drop effects all EV’s - some by as much as 35%
  8. The Autotrader 63 includes new upcars not resales
  9. I order CC2’s today and being fitted before Friday. The RZ has 255x45x20” rears and 235x50x20 fronts. I ordered using a local tyre dealer I have used for years - if you find the size you want on the Michelin site it takes you to Blackcircles that then offers local tyre fitters. Good price too as they are giving 10% off with the code Jan10. https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/tyres/michelin-crossclimate-2
  10. rayaans- Where did you learn of CanBus thefts and Lexus providing the plates ? Why would a normal owner of a Lexus be aware of a post manufacture fitting of a security measure, other than by a recall. Keyless thefts have been all over the media for years and manufacturers have changed key devices etc as did Lexus. It’s because Keyless became more secure the thieves found and exploited the CanBus vulnerability. Newspapers and other media explained how keyless theft works and how to overcome it. In all the articles I have read about Lexus having the 2nd highest theft rate, none of them mentioned CanBus attacks so normal owners assume it is Keyless. Other than on these type of forums / websites no media has broadcast or informed about CanBus thefts. Lexus aren’t going to, as that just attracts even more thefts. I think it is wrong to suggest that the owner is in any way responsible for a theft because they didn’t have a little known post manufacturing device fitted - that is a small step away from saying insurers shouldn’t pay out if an owner hasn’t taken every single measure to prevent a theft.
  11. My calculations showed with electric at 28p / kw the RX450h+ costs about 11p / mile for the 35 miles range against petrol about 19p / mile. I quoted my Range Rover at overall 90 mpg for 12,000 miles so the saving was considerable !
  12. Tom - good to hear, I’ll try that. The beeps when locking the car seem to be random. At first I thought it was the second press causing it - reminding you that the internal sensor was armed so not to be used if a pet or child was still in it. There just doesn’t seem to be any logic to it - sometimes it’s total silence and then for no reason the beeps happen on the next locking. The second press just double locks, apparently the intrusion and tip sensors are armed after just the single lock. As usual, the manual doesn’t seem to cover it at all.
  13. John. I do wonder if the rectification of the charging unit has helped. I never drive to preserve range - drive just as I would a petrol except not having the heating or ac on full blast maybe. My charging app is brilliant at providing data and with the trips in the Lexus Link & my tracker I can accurately see my true range and consumption.
  14. I had to have a replacement AC charging module fitted - had to use public DC chargers for 6 weeks. It may be a coincidence, but I seem to be experiencing better range than everyone else. Perhaps the temps are not so low in North Essex. I haven’t changed my driving - a lot of 70mph dual carriageway and about 50mph rural roads. A week after my collection in May, my range was 220 / 180. I use the auto radiant heaters with +2 / heated seats & wheel with occasional 27c heat for defogging and am getting about 190 which for 64kw usable is 2.9. Today for instance on only local roads I did 19 miles and the car is at 91% so about 3.3 kw / mile. As I had to use public chargers for 6 weeks (in the summer) I kept a record of charging - Lexus paid me £ 250 for the excess cost over home charging. I regularly used MER & Osprey 150kw chargers and did get around 140kw until about 40%. At Rugby services 150kw it took 30 mins for 20% to about 80% which is about right. I haven’t used high speed chargers in low temperatures yet.
  15. I should also have said that in the RZ it’s very easy to turn off the speed limit display as it has a dedicated shortcut button in the screen. BUT this turns off the speed limit display completely in the HUD and both screens.
  16. I found this to be the same as the ‘over speed’ warning - you can select to have visual without audible but it has to be set every time. It’s annoying and the manual for the RZ is a bit misleading as it says this can be set as part of ‘my settings’ which reads as becoming the default but it isn’t. As it seems to be an EU reg there isn’t a way round it. My previous BMW had it but it was only active when the semi-autonomous driving was operating - far more sensible and it wasn’t as sensitive. The Lexus system is so sensitive that it gives an alert when you’re looking at a junction or at the door mirror. I have turned the volume right down for all notifications so I can’t hear them with the radio / music. We swapped the wife’s 2022 Honda for a new Toyota as the lane keeping in the Honda was so severe it was dangerous - even on the lowest setting if you moved over to avoid something in the road it wrestled the car back towards the kerb ! The Toyota has a button on the wheel to turn it off but in the Honda it was buried in the menu and accessed by a button deep down below the dash
  17. I have been told that the EU mandates that it defaults back every time the car is started. Right hand drive, Brexit and our cars are configured for EU rules !
  18. I think when you initially set up your profile it asks if you want to use face recognition. If the driver monitor is off then it may be getting confused !
  19. I checked today and RZ is on the steering column so does move with the steering wheel. I think the RX is the same
  20. I completely agree but as most people do focus on the fuel cost then that effects residuals. I see parts of London now charge significantly more to park a diesel compared to an EV. Pretty soon I can see no go areas for ICE’s - stupid but with the environmentalists taking control it’ll only get worse. Plug-in’s with reasonable EV range may come into their own then as they have the best of both worlds.
  21. In the RZ the Driver Monitor camera is on the bottom of the drivers screen. If you have the steering wheel too high it obscures the camera as it is in the screen not on the column. In the RZ you can turn it off in Driver Assistance. I haven’t, as you will have to do it every time the car start (EU regulation) and I suspect the dynamic radar cruise will not function. 2 screenshots. The first is the RZ and I think the second is the 2023 RX
  22. I have had 4 PHEV’s - 2 Merc’s, 1 BMW and a Range Rover Velar. All of them kept enough battery to provide the 0 - 60 time even if the range and battery showed 0. If you selected EV only the acceleration fell away after about 60. For my regular journeys the plug-in was definitely the answer - the RR showed an average of 90mpg over 12,000 miles. Electric then was much cheaper so a great saving. Now with electric costing about 28p (ignoring off-peak tariffs) the saving is not so much but still about half. Dragging the battery around on constant long journeys would wipe out the benefits of local driving. Normally you can only access 80% of the battery so on the RX say 18kw x 80% = say 14kw x say 28p = say £ 4 for real world 35 miles = 11p / mile. Petrol say £ 1.50 x 4.5 litres = £ 6.75 / say 35 mpg = 19p. I went full EV after the plug-ins and bought a RZ
  23. Lexus continue to market Lexus Link+ as having send to car - Customer DisService say the service will be available soon - have been telling me that since May. Lexus are light years behind other manufacturers in terms of the App - 8 years ago Mercedes Me had functions like geofencing and 4 years ago BMW enabled you to take a live photo of the car (uses the 3D cameras). May not be what you particularly want but are just examples of how advanced they were years ago compared to Lexus now.
