hi all,
my boot won't open, last used Saturday. i usually use the button inside, or the rubber nipple on the actual boot lid. today neither worked. i saw the earlier thread for the IS220 where there is a safety button inside the glove box. just checked mine, also on p22 of manual, and i don't have this, or maybe im not looking in the right place. could it be a fuse?
thanks

an update from lexus woodford.
the 5yr essential care does not include the IS250 models.
the service book is not stamped but you get a report type sheet indicating what's been done, so its almost like a stamp

thanks for you input dave. i will phone up lexus and get a proper answer, and update thread tomorrow

hi,
date of first reg is 07/07/2006! not sure if that qualifies as over 5 years!! phoned up lexus again, and they still quoted the same £245. the operator said that the oils are changed and/or topped up and a health check done. she said because its had its full 60K service they're quite confident thats all it needs for now. i will phone her again and ask her if i qualify for over 5 year rule
thanks

thanks for your quick reply. im driving an 2006 IS250 does this apply to me then? yours is a IS200, maybe the price is because your car is older

hi all,
can someone explain or point me to a resource regarding the details of the lexus servicing criteria A (intermediate or minor) and B (full or major).
i phoned up nearest dealer who quoted me £245 for intermediate. when i asked her what it entailed, she said oil change and filter! i said to her surely that can't be it! she did admit she was covering in the department and not very technical, so give her a break! i've tried to find out on internet but i got no results. however there is a company called "prestige servicing" who are quoting £250 for a major service, will stamp book, and list all their criteria of checks. i just wanted to compare, as i obviously want to go with lexus.
so has anyone got any experiences of non lexus brand servicing, and what was your experiences and also a lexus criteria list regarding servicing
many thanks

hi all,
not sure where to post this, but as im specifically enquiring about the is250 i thought i'd post it here.
i have an 2006 is250 SE-L petrol
i would like to get a service from lexus dealer.
i would like to know the following:
recent (12 months or so) servicing costs interim and full also experience received
has anyone used those online servicing places where they claim to be cheaper than main dealers

hi all,
im driving a 2006 is250 SE-L with the 7" screen. although i think the car is great, i often wondered why lexus didn't give it a DAB.
my question is this:
can a dab be added to the current system? if so, has anyone done it? was it easy, hard?
many thanks

hi all,
i wonder if someone could help. i do not understand my heating system.
if i'm driving during the day and i put the heating on to 21.5 degrees, i get warm air through the vents. this is a good thing. when heating has been off for a while, and you put the heating back on to 21.5 it blows cool tepid air, not freezing air. so i touch it up to 22 degrees. same thing cool tepid air. for example. today i drove to hastings from london. in the morning after the car has been running for 20 mins, i put heating on at 21.5 as mentioned above. i turned it off once sun was shining through car and we felt comfortable. all ok. now 8 hours later after our day out, we are driving back to london. we feel chilly and put the heating on 21.5 degrees. it blows out tepid cool air. i left this on for over 20 mins. so i touch it up to 22.0 same thing. i again touch it up to 22.5 no joy. when i put it up to 24-25.0 warm hot air blows through. my question is: is this normal? in my old gs300 i can leave it on 20.0 degrees, and its warm air. its only on mega cold days it goes up. so it seems that during the day its ok, and in the evening its not, or is this coincidence? i'd like to hear from other drivers if this happens to them. what is the temp borderline where warm air kicks in? by the way, i don't use climate control, im manually adjusting the climate for example:
press climate
choose fan speed
turn off "a/c" (bottom left)
and adjust temp myself
many thanks

hi all,
i noticed that when i switch my headlights on, the right one lights up and then fades off. a bit strange i thought. usually if a bulb is burnt it doesn't switch on. anyway i'm assuming the bulb has gone as all other lights are working. the replacement bulb is a H11. how do i replace it? when you open the little door you can't open it fully as the air filter is there.
any ideas, surely its a quick job without the need to bring it in to the service centre
thanks

hi all,
i bought a 2006 is250 se-l during xmas. i love driving it, and still getting used to the gadgets
does anyone know if there is a mod to make, or if available to buy, a heated steering wheel?
it comes in the ls460, what do you think? a good idea?
thanks

check the water circulation. sounds like there's no water going into the radiator. you may have a leak in the radiator or a defective hose. fill up the coolant resevoir with water and then come back and guess where the leak is coming from. if its front of the car near the catch for the bonnet, it will be radiator. if its away from that could be a hose. another tip, keep an eye on your engine temp as you don't want the thing running hot, you'll end up blowing something
good luck

hi rick,
yes, coolant is one of those summer coolant/antifreeze liquid type products.
this bulkhead part, would i see it looking down on the engine or do i need to check it from underneath?
i take it behind part of the engine, you mean towards the windscreen. if you got a picture of a basic diagram i'll check it out. its blooming cold out there!!
thanks for your response

hi all,
i wonder if you guys can help.
my car is the lexus gs300 sport MK1. this morning no hot air would come out or the heating system although i had the car running idle for 20 mins! i turned it up to 30 degrees, and it still blew out hot air. because of this it couldn't demist the windows which meant i couldn't drive it today.
any ideas as i need to trouble shoot this asap. the heating was working last week, but it was playing up a bit. it was working sunday , but not today.
thanks

hi
welcome to the forum. im having this problem in my older gs300. after months of troubleshooting i found where it is, but i'll tell you the troubleshooting guide, as i hope its not as bad as mine!
if your demister light comes on, the its not the fuse, but good to check it anyway as it may simply need reseating. there is fuse box in the engine bay, and another one where the accelerator pedal is, well at least on the mk1's. it could have been moved to the passenger side where your shins would be if you were seated. once you locate the fuses, reseat or take them out and examine them.
if this does not work you can check the lines for any breaks on the rear window. all it takes is a small break in the circuit. there is a way of checking for this with a bit of foil and multimeter, you can find this on the net.
if that pans out to be ok, then you may have what i have. you may have to remove the side panels by the rear headrest that slopes to the rear windows. depending where your terminals are, mine are on the left. anyway when i removed mine, there is a 2 prong terminal. this weathered away and became brittle. i think when i went over a speed bump it broke. you won't be able to solder it, and you can't superglue it as super glue is not conductive. basically you're screwed like i am!! you need someone with a good knowledge of electronics to help you fix it. my builder said he can do it, but i haven't seen him yet.
i hope you'rs is not as bad as mine!!
good luck
