  1. Where would I go for a Track Day locally? How much is it on average?, do you bring your own car or what, is it 'dangerous' especially if all you have is a standard driving license? How far in advance do you have to book?

Good sites for information? Thanks in advance.

  2. I've been lucky in that I've never had a problem with the 6 disc CD player except a couple of times when the ERR3 message appeared and I just turned off the system and turned it on again and it was fixed! Also I've tried to not always have 6 discs in at once in case I get this error message (I'm not sure if this is a reason why this happens?)...... anyway if I recall correctly I was ejecting a disc (all 6 discs were loaded) and I accidently turned off the system and I think that was the cause... because now whenever I turn on the system I get the radio frequency displayed and pressing CD it for a microsecond displays ERR3 and then goes back to the radio frequency display! I can't eject any discs either. Do you have any tips or do I have to get it replaced :-(???

  3. I find it hard to resist to change the gear - my left hand can't keep still! Hence when approaching a turn, etc I like to shift down from D to 3 or 2. The only advantage is that I have no 'fear' of stalling and don't have to concentrate too much on the clutch as there is no clutch!

I.e. it's easy to drive when I want to drive it easy but sometimes I wish I could have gear control and more left hand action!

Could all this shifting have a long term effect on the car? Not good for mpg I guess?

  4. Haynes glovebox guide - your car:

1.Don't buy a brand new car; buy year old or ex-demonstrator

    ----------

Lexus cars don't have too many options but if you were to buy a BMW or Audi it could be very hard to get the exact spec you could get if you bought it brand new. Obviously the main pro is the cost - it's much cheaper but then you don't know the complete "history" of the car - you weren't with the driver - that might bother someone...

    Also

I don't understand why people don't just buy Japanese - most reliable as such - e.g. why bother with some European makes which always come bottom in the customer satisfaction surveys?

  5. Scraped the rear bumper corner against a wall and phoned around getting a quote of £100. However, I have the full tin of touch-up paint so could I just paint brush that on - would I have to 'smooth' the surface first?

Hi, How deep are the scratches? Got a similar problem scraped my rear bumper into a concrete post and also own a Lexus touch up kit.

    damage done:

Gave the touch up kit a try the base coat was really thin and needs lots of coats. I will continue tomorrow, the more coats I do the better it looks.

Will see the results then decide the next step. I will let you know if its successful but I have a feeling it will need a smart repair.

    Was it successful???

It's similar to yours ... it's a pretty deep 'scrape'. Using T-cut Colorfast scratch remover will not be enough will it?

Anything in this section of the Halfords website under Body Repair:

I was in Halfords the other day and was thinkig of getting one of those Halfords kits for Toyota's colours (Lexus aren't stocked)

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...65580_langId_-1

    Two pen kit containing:

    * Primer and Touch-up paint with brush and pen nib applicators

    * Glass fibre brush to clean out any loose material from scratches and chips

Halfords Stone Chip and Scratch Repair Systems

    OR

    Would I use body filler?

I was nearly going to buy this from Halfords:

"Halfords Plastic Scuff & Scrape Repair Kit" but the online review says it's rubbish!

The easy and affordable way to repair plastic bumpers using professional materials and techniques.

    A bit confusing!!!

  6. In the paper recently there was an article about people being caught out / forgetting that the photocard part of the driving license expires after 10 years and the fact you have to renew it! Having a discussion at work; a team mate checked his and it was for 4 years and not 10 - how is this possible? Surely all photocards are the same time???

  7. If suppose the car gets broken into or stolen - having the booklet in the glove box (as the booklet states) with the policy number written in it- would it be useful for the thief?

Also carrying your driving license photocard in your wallet/purse is a good idea? Or safer at home? You have 7 days to show it to the police if they require you to? But you might get mugged or it gets misplaced...?

    Pros and cons please?
