  1. unfortunately the colour is actually coming out, I have three areas that are almost showing base leather and a dark wear line down the centre from rear of seat to about 1/3rd length . Pretty poor IMO. I think semi aniline leather is only on the Premier. I any event warranty replacement of the drivers seat cushion so I am happy...ish. Will be asking for a written guarantee that if it happens again out of warranty that it will be sorted out.

So far I have had a new drivers door panel replaced for a rattle that was not needed as the fix was some felt between the quarter light metal divider and the back of the panel. Two seat bases replaced due to juddering motor action. Seats now creak when tilted up or down and in use if at anything other than tilted fully down. Due in for seat cushion reoplacement and creaking fixing on the 19th. Hopefully it will come back all OK

Total retail cost so far ~£7500

I am not filled with confidence that this car will remain fault free once the warranty expires. I really like it though so will probably buy an extended warranty.

Blue tooth connection to the phone is only about 50% successful, mostly says check phone but its calling but not connected through the speakers :-(

  2. I  have a 2015 RX450H FSport with red interior and the colour is coming off the drivers seat down the centre, worse at the rear of the seat and since last week, since I took it to the dealer for inspection, at two places close to where jeans back pockets would be. Wiping with a Supaguard leather wipe also brings the dye off and stains the cloth dark pink. Lexus has agreed to replace the seat cushion under warranty but I am very worried about the long term durability of the seats. This is my 6th Lexus and I have never had anything like this before.

I will try to post some photos but it doesnt show up well unfortunately.

Anyone else have a similar experience

The 4th generation model also suffers from road muck build up between the inner and outer seals on the doors. Most of the crud is on the black plastic trim area on the bottom of the doors (not the sills so much) and I now ensure that I wash these door bottom areas with a brush when I am cleaning the wheels. My last car was a 2013 RRS which has double door seals and the area between them remained pretty clean with no dirt ingress.

Agreed re the gen 4 RX, mine always has dirt on the black plastic trim inside the bottom of the front doors. Just clean it off with a wet brush. Doesnt worry me at all as its not getting into the interior

The rx goes up to 60mpg? Step forward all the owners who have achieved that even on the latest Atkinson models.

My best is 45.1mpg on an 80 miles trip but usually mid 30s except for short journeys with 30mph zone when it is probably mid 20s.

Gen 4 RX450h FSport currently getting ~32mpg per tank, dropped from ~38mpg when it started getting cold in October. Overall average since I bought it mid July is 35.9mpg.

Temperature makes a noticeable difference in consumption, even daily on the same commute, less than 4-5 degrees and I just achieve the 32mpg. Between 6 & 10 degrees and I get around 33.5mpg. Summer temperatures get me back the 38mpg. I struggle to raise the average but have seen a 45mpg trip but that doesnt happen often.

  5. I believe the general wisdom is to carry a child rear facing for as long as possible to reduce the risk of injury (neck esp I think) however I have just had to put the seat forward facing for my 15 month old granddaughter as it was too tight a fit rear facing. She seems happier looking forwards too and it is far easier to get her in and out. Slightly concerned about what might happen in a crash but I drive even more sedately when she is with me, damn good for fuel economy as well LOL

  6. My 4RX had a really bad vibrating rattle from the rear seats. Cured by putting a double wrap of gaffer tape around the centre seat portion fixing bracket. I have recently aquired a very annoying front door/A pillar rattle when the car is cold (below 4 degrees) and going over bumpy surfaces. It disappears when the car warms up though.

Tis a shame though that I can't afford a driver to appreciate it!

Do you have a wife that might chaufeur you? fortunately for me mine hasn`t driven any of my Lexuses for the last 16 years although she did manage to reverse into the CT200. It was my fault though as it shouldnt have been in the drive on a weekday when I was away on business....women!

  8. I have developed a new rattle from the passenger door are on my RX but seems to be only when its cold. Its a very hollow plastic rattle and I cant find whats loose. Its driving me mad but not quite as much as the now cured vibration I had from the drivers door which being so close nearly made me get rid of the car. My wife says I am not normal and just ignore squaks and rattles. hmmmmm

Um, interesting. Mine works whether in auto or not. It really does seem to differ from model to model. Unless it's because I've got the fancy three zone Jobby. Glad you've got it sorted Chris.

Its bloody annoying that the manual is so ambiguous and that the dealer clearly has no idea either. Hardly surprising if there is no consistency between models though. How lucky are you with you flash 3 zone luxury :-)

Figured out why mine never works then. I put my bag in the footwell behind my seat.

But if the sflow light is on above the button then bag on floor behind the drivers seat should not make any difference and if you had opened the door after turning the car on then the light would be off. In any event it sounds like yours is behaving like mine or at least the temp display is always on??

I am going to raise it with Lexus Leeds next week to see if I can get a definitive answer as the instructions in the manual are both specific on how it should work but also vague on affecting factors. If current operation is normal fine but if not I will expect it fixing under warranty.

That's interesting. Mine is on but not really sure what it does. Will try again tomorrow with it off to see if it makes a difference. I really would expect all Lexus to operate in the same manner. Try that Chris, I'd be interested to know if it helps you.

As per my reply to Rayaans. All settings the same today as yesterday and today temp display always on on passenger side. Stuff like this really winds me up LOL

Was the car fully warm? Have you turned the efficient ventilation mode on in the settings?

TBH I wouldn't worry about it - having all vents running is better than just the drivers side.

All settings the same as yesterday it just behaves differently. f its supposed to work then I expect it to and as its under warranty I will want it sorting (if its faulty) as later on the whole system might decide to go haywire :-)
