Have the same faint high-pitched whine ('51 200 Sport). It becomes noticable from around 70+, increasing in pitch, but not volume. I figured it was linked to the vents, and air being forced through at higher speeds. Turning off air-con seemed to reduce it slightly, but this could also be wishful thinking rather than fact! Be interested to know if anyone else actually has this problem.

Depending on how you feel now, you could be a real nice person and 'advise' your insurance company of the prang, making it clear that you will not be claiming against your policy, but just for info. If she tries to renew her insurance with a different company (or possibly the same one), it'll flag up the 'incident' and then she'll have to do some explaining....
