  1. Just relax and enjoy, secure in the knowledge that you've bought the most reliable car in Britain Cheers Bruce
  2. I had front and rear parking sensors dealer fitted to my 400H when it was new (July 08) and the price you have been quoted seems about right. The sensors are the Toyota 800 series and I've had no problems with them. There is no display for either front or rear sensors, but the tones made when they operate are different (can be a bit confusing when manoevering in a tight space and they're both going off). The front sensors have a switch fitted down near the fuel filler release and this can be used to deactivate the front sensors. Under normal circumstances the front sensors only operate when the car is moving slowly (less than 10mph) and automatically switch off when the car is going faster than this. You won't regret buying a 400H, mine is now 4 years old with 47K on the clock, absolutely no problems. It's far and away the best car I've ever had and have no plans to change (even to the 450H which IMHO is plug ugly) Hope this helps Bruce
  3. I purchased my car from lexus Woodford in Essex and they fitted both front and rear parking sensors (and a towbar) before delivering the new vehicle to me in Aberdeen Cheers Bruce
  4. Youv'e got the right kit. I had the same fitted to my RX400H by the dealer when new and have never regretted it. I don't know who is going to do the fitting, but the only thing to remember is that the front sensors are only supposed to work when the car is moving very slowly (I think less than 5mph) and will require a connection to the speed pulse wire (hopefully shown somewhere on the wiring diagram). The front sensor kit also has an on/off switch so that the front sensors can be switched off if you are parked up close to a wall or similar with ignition switched on. The rear sensors get their power from the reversing lights BTW the front and back beepers have different tones so that if you're trying to manoeuvre the car in a tight spot, you'll easily know whether it's the front or rear end that's getting close to hitting something Enjoy your RX - I bought mine in July 2008, and it's far and away the best car I've ever owned and after 3 happy years, there's still nothing elso out there that I'm tempted by (not even a 450H) Best Regards Bruce
  5. Lexus Woodford fitted a detachable towbar to my new RX400H last July without question. The towbar is made by Westphalia-Automotive, type 335305600001, max nose weight 80Kg, Towing capacity 2000Kg Lexus will probably charge £800-£1000 to supply and fit this towbar. You can save a heap of money by sourcing it on the internet and fitting it yourself (that's what I should have done, since the installation is not difficult) Towbar details (including fitting instructions) at: http://www.westfalia-automotive.de/index.php?id=54&L=1 A very small cut has to be made at the bottom of the rear bumper, but you wont see it unless you bend down Hope this helps BMcP
  6. Bought my RX400H SE with multimedia and silver metallic paint in July this year through a broker (coast2coast cars) List price- £43149, broker price-£38268, saving £4881 Car supplied by lexus watford I live in Aberdeen, so everything was done by phone and email. No problems whatsoever, delivered within 2 weeks Given the current market conditions, you could probably get a better deal than this now Hope this helps Bruce McPherson
  7. Hi, I'm in the process of buying a new RX400H and want a towbar fitted. I found the following lexus site: http://techdoc.lexus-europe.com/default.aspx which has the fitting instructions for both the towbar and the electrics. Although I've fitted towbars and electrics before, this looked to be too big a job for me so the dealer is fitting (don't ask how much - It hurts!) From the instructions you'll see that only a detachable towbar is availble from Lexus (It's made by Westfalia and can be purchased from several towbar companies for approx £360) There is a very small cut in the bumper required, but not noticeable when the bumper is refitted The spare wheel still fits Ref the electrics, yes its a loom and it looks like a bit of a bu***r to fit Hope this helps Bruce
  8. Hi, I'm Bruce and I live in Aberdeen. After years of dreaming of a Lexus and months of lurking on this forum I've finally splashed (all) the cash on new RX400H which is due for delivery in July. If there are any other RX400H owners in the club who live anywhere near me (i.e. the whole of Scotland) I'd be delighted to hear from them. I'm really looking forward to my lexus experience Best Regards to all club memebers Bruce McPherson
