  1. My wife has a RX300 SE 2004, when we first bought this in August we discovered a transmission oil leak. We took it to Lexus for repair, they told us that they had seen this problem before and that engine needed to come out and it would take 13 hours. The problem is that a transmission seal needs to be replaced, the indicator of this seal failing is a leak of oil from a small hole in the transmission and this drips onto the exhaust. The problem then reoccurred and Lexus then tried the repair again, this time they said it would take 5 hours as they no longer need to take the engine out The problems came again, and they said that Lexus have sent a tool to locate the seal, so it went back again.. The problems then came again - sheesh this is getting boring eh? They replaced the seal again!! Last week was the 7th time the car has been fixed by Lexus, they have also told me that this is a fairly common fault.. now I think I’ve seen the leak back again! I’m wondering what to do – My wife wants to keep the car and I want it fixed but i don’t want this pain in the rear?? I have escalated this to Lexus, but they are not interested as i didn’t buy it from them and in their words I am not a loyal customer So beware!!! Don’t accept a 13 hour bill, don't pay for parts as this is a known fault.

  6. i've just been under the car and it appears that the leak - or if it is a problem or not...? The transmission oil is leaking from the drivers side front diff - and it appears that there is a hole in the side of the diff towards the drive shafts - is this for overfiliing or shoudl this hole be blocked off ?? Thanks in advance Rob
  7. I've just bought my rx300 2004 and have noticed that there is a leak under the car. It does appear to be transmission oil as it's red. Its not a huge amount - but im not sure how long this has been leakng - as the car was sitting for a while before i bought it.. does anyone know how to check the level of tranmission fluid ? is this a common fault - should i stop driving it before its checked out? Thanks in advance for any help Rob
  8. i did buy it - its a SE with Multimedia and nav - just got to arrange pick up. I've been ringing round for quotes for towbars, seems that Lexus want my right arm in exchange?? Seems the witter and brink do some - but i was wondering if a non detachable will interfear with any reversing sensors. the car has a camera but im not sure about anythng else
  9. Hello, i am new to Lexus.. I am looking to buy a RX but am unsure what model to go for - should i wait for a SE-L or will the SE press all the right buttons? The one i have been looking at is a SE +ICE +NAV (has the rear DVD screens, sat nav and reversing camera) I was wondering about the differences in spec between the different models - if anyone could help? Thanks in advance
