  1. looks real good there mate. mind if i be cheeky and ask if you could trace the OEM speaker mounts for me? going to be up-grading mine soon just getting together all the bits that i need
  2. that would be great mate, and i've got just the normal headunit i've got no problems in cutting the loom and sorting it all out,me and my mate done it before on my previous cars, but it's a bit messy and takes a fair bit of time, much easier to jsut buy the converstion harness as you can imagine
  3. Wondering if anyone could tell me which conversion harness i will need please, car is a Feb 2001 GS300 SE model. They are in the link attatched as i can't wait to get my sound into the car. I'm going to install my Alpine headunit into the car. I've got the amp, well i think so anyway, but am not sure on which of the two models i'd need. http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_fitting_kits/lexus.htm Emil
  4. this happened to me on wednesday night, and just today on my way home from work. the key fob doesn't dis able the alarm, and there isn't a way for me to get into without opening the door with the key and sounding the alarm. some how,i thought try and turn the car on,and i did and it started up fine no problems at all,the same later happened that night where the alarm had gone off for no reason,i put it down to me listening to music without the car turned on. now today, the was turned on when i listened to music, but when i came to unlock it to get in afterwards, nothing at all,the red light flashes on the key fob,but the doors don't unlock and again i had to open it with the key and turn it on and it was ok after that any idea's on what it is that is causing the problem,i have to admit i haven't searched yet....
  5. wow 300,000 thats fantastic well i picked up an example with 82k on the clock, already near 83k though, lol
  6. that looks like a real ache to do from what i've seen on the clublexus site, best of luck with it all
  7. that is going really nice, with the massive audio flatline,do you get RCA outputs on it? i've got all of my old ICE from the Skyline, and really want to put it all into the GS now but i just don't want to ruin the look of the centre console with the single din unit in,and end up with an odd looking dashboard, but it'd make the install a whole lot easier for me,with pretty much new wiring done for the car's ICE.
  8. yes i've thought that is the case well the lady said, that if my key can open the boot and lock the glove box then i can use this as the "master" key to re-programme the new key if i was to get one i've not lost a key yet in 4 years of driving, and don't plan to anytime soon,i'm just really paranoid with the key now though, where ever i go i'm checking if i've still got the keys with me
  9. thanks for the link and yes they said i'd need a new ECU,worse comes to worse i'll install a new alarm or buy an ECU key set from a scrap yard!! such a nice car though, don't really want to change anything apart from the speakers as they're not up to what i'm use to
  10. Finally got one on tuesday,it's a black, with black leather interior with 82k on the clock,X reg. Will get pictures up later, been to busy driving and enjoying the car!!! Now,i have a problem with the keys,i only have the "spare",the one without the boot release on the it. I went down to Lexus Birmingham, apparently i need a new ECu + key begining made, with a total cost of £1125 :shutit: . Is there anywhere else that i can get another key made,so incase i ever to loose this one,i know i have a spare one?
  11. yup thats true,i've lookedat insurance on the LS,and it's over £600 more than the GS,decided now that i'm going gor a GS anyway, and if you can maintain a skyline, you can maintain anything as they cost that much!!! lol
  12. thanks for the info, would i be cheeky if i was to ask if i could borrow the original mounts once i get my GS so i can make the mounts up before i take the door cards off etc,i'll pay postage both ways
  13. nice build up so far,i'm keeping a very close eye on this as i'll be changing the set-up in my GS once i get what one i'm guessing you've made custom mounts from MDF,can you not just buy them? made to many custom mounts and i think my lungs are now filled with saw dust more than anything, lol also, any more details on the OEM system being used as i'm not sure which way to go yet
  14. well after getting my provisional insurance quotes the LS is out of the question as it's just to much for me to spend monthly on it alone, then adding petorl/maintance and other general expenses per month it'll leave me with like £20 to spend, lol depending how soon i can save my money i'll be looking at more expensive options, but ultimately i want one before th 17th October as thats when my current insurance runs out and i do not want to re-new it
  15. thanks alot for the tips guys,i've already checked the "what to look out for" section and taken those things on board, itching now for next monday for when the hunt officially starts for my GS
  16. is that for a MK1 or MK2 GS then mate? I've got 3 years no claim's so not to bad for me,and yes i use to go down Santa Pod alot before, this year haven't gone down yet as i've not been able to get time off work along with not wanting to spend over £100 on one day,IMO most of the shows now seem the same to me as i went to alot over the last 3 years,JapFest,Time Attack Rounds etc,i'm the West Mids Rep for the GTROC
  17. lol,yep something with comfort is now required for me,sound like i'm getting old and i'm only 21 Well budget isn't really huge, half of what i'd need for a UK Vertex or and Aristo, the most i can spend is £3000 at the moment,i could wait another 2/3 months and have atleast £4000 to play around with but my current insurance is up at the start of October, and as said already i want an R33 GTR again next year along with a daily driver so saving,as much as i'd love the 2JZ in it,i'll end up getting it tuned and spending all my money on the car again and then it'll end up at the same place where i'll loose my license On another side,my cousin lives opposite me and he is currently looking for a Twin Turbo Supra,so all i need to do is cross the road and get into his car if i want :winky:
  18. O yes, that's what i'd love to get but i can't afford it get one at that price!!! As said before,i'm saving up and don't want to spend all my money on the one car,the saving up is for another R33 GTR,i had an R33 GTS myself and my dad had a R33 GTR,he sold the GTR back in Feb and nothing that i've driven has been the same since that GTR,only reason why i'm looking at saving is to get myself an R33 GTR for when i leave uni Another side factor is that all the cars i've had,so far have been dead low, dead loud and stupid fast,i need something that won't loose my license and is comfortable for once!
  19. On a side thread,i've seen some high mileage GS's go for quite cheap, avoiding all the "you can't get a nice one cheap",how do the engines hold up? I've gone from Honda's,to Nissan's and now obvioulsy thinking Lexus, but i know my Civic's and Skyline's inside out, completely new to GS and unlike before with the previous cars,i knew it all before i had one,now i'm thinking of getting a GS within the next 2 weeks if possible,so need to catch up alot Having a car with service history is what i'm after, but as said,is the car's mileage something that shouldn't really be worried about? My dad's got an ol W123 Merc with 260k on the clock or more i think, but we know Merc engine's like the back of our hand as we've had so many over the years
  20. i'm actually paying £1.18 a litre as i have to use V Power so even less than 17mpg!!! :shutit: I haven't got enough money to get myself a GS430,saving up at the same time and can't spend that much on the car. Tried an insurance quote on an LS,cheapest i found via the net was £1800 compared to £1300 for the GS,and i think i could get it down alot more than that by calling people up anyway thanks thoguh :)
  21. Hi first of all,my first post, sold my Skyine now and i've really got my mind set on getting a Lexus,i was wanting a GS300,but seems like the MPG between the GS and the LS isn't that different after all, but i'd like some definate answers please on their MPG,although i'm not that fussed about it (got to be better than £70 of fuel for 240 miles from the Skyline!!). Is the LS that much better of a car than the GS? I love my V8's and i've got to admit i'm wanting the LS so i can get a nice exhaust system on their to hear the V8 from it!!! But i think i like the looks of the GS more but thats personal taste anyway.... Comfort wise,is their much different between the two,i know i'll take them out on test drives but there's so much you can do on one. What i really need to know is how they are in the long run as i plan on keeping the car for atleast 2 years, comfort wise and space wise, how comfortable would you be having 5 people in the car for a 3 hour + journey ??? It will be a daily driver though,so the fuel bills will add a lil bit into the deciding factor as i'm still a student with part time work..... And it'll get driven locally the most, with a 20 mile drive to uni each way aswell, Well thats all for now, thanks Emil
