  1. Yep-the adapter from the alpine plug to the factory loom will bypass any onboard amp setup in your car-the factory speakers wil then become powered by the new Alpine head unit, and will most prob sound a whole heap better!

My Alpine H/U is 60 watts(rms) and the factory speakers sound great provided you filter out some of the bottom end frequency, they'll sound extremely crisp and tight with the extra power they will be recieving,I have mine crossed at 120hz and up,and they punch hard!

All the best wth your install, can't wait to see the pics.

    regards,

    gav.

  2. Yup-3 nights a week,4 hours a night=12 hour working week...plenty of time for other pursuits!(he he)

Amazing what opportunities open up just by making pieces of vinyl go round & round-gotta say,I do love my job!

Still got plenty of work for any of you fellow DJs should you be headin this way....

  3. Hey there Jeteza-

I'm Auckland Based-will send an email to you,and if you let me know where in the country you are I can help with supply and costings on lowering your Altezza.

Feel free to contact me with any queries you may have locally.

    regards-talk to ya soon.

  4. Hey Kavey... do you have signal and output FROM the sub when the engine is off?As you say,the voltage is fine when engine is off,so this will allow you to determine if the amp is damaged in any way.

Else, could be a good option to bench test the sub amp to see if it functions correctly away from the cars electrics.

I did have a similar prob once-turned out that a dead short had blown an output IC on the amp-this caused a power signal to be shown when engine not running, but lowered voltage below 9 volts to amp when motor was on.

I'd say pop the amp out and try running an exteranl source to it-easier to find if thats the prob rather than doing a diagnostic on the electrics in your car!

    :geek:

  5. I drove both when purchasing my previous IS,it may just have been the individual examples of cars but the manual seemed quite "notchy" through the gearbox, with quite a bit of pressue needed into 3rd gear.

My latest addition has a 5 speed auto, which when driven hard doesnt miss a beat, with no loss of acceleration during shifts.

These cars have been the only vehicles to persuade me not to own a manual, and sure, there are times where I wish I could reminisce about the GTR skyline of old but owning an auto IS does not make me feel un-inspired to treat this as a true drivers car,as it certainly does perform like one!

  6. Yep-Screen is an aftermarket Sony with built in tv tuner and 2 aux video/audio inputs.

My last IS200 had factory Sat/nav(which doesn't work here anyway)and is real easy to remove and replace with another screen setup. The TRD I've got now had no nav,but upper center console was simple to pop out out replace with the modified one I've done containing the Sony. Best thing is,I can have the whole car back to standard in under an hour!

Good thing with these cars is that I've found they are extremely easy for ICE installs, but feel free to throw me any question you may have,or pics of mods to mine for ideas.....

The screen I have installed does not fold away like the factory one,but offers larger picture area, runs a center channel speaker built in,and is not imposing on the lines of the dashboard in any way.

  7. That looks WELL WICKED!!

I've just this weekend painted the calipers on my trd and was pleased to find Potenza adjustables hidden behind....

NO WONDER IT DRIVES DIFFERENT TO MY LAST ONE!

Your car looks awesome-if only I could source some of those looks here in NZ(sigh) :crybaby:

  8. All in all i good spot of light hearted reading, with a few elements that can always be put into practise if the need arose.(as my car cowers at the thought of it)...

    (pause)hey Vince-sold that Aprilla yet?(unpause)

Wonder how much weight would actually come off an IS if internals etc were removed... ;)

  9. maybe he's had aftermarket components and head unit in this car and has decided to take them with him to his new ride...if the sub enclosure has been built "in trunk"then it may be too much hassle to remove or damage inside of boot area?

Definately a good lookin car- but 20k US $ = around 45k NZ currency....

Just trying to convince <_< myself that I got a great deal on my TRD for 36k nz $!!!!!
