  1. 2 months waiting for a replacemet stereo and I eventually got the call yesterday from Lex B'ham to inform my new unit had arrived!!! Nipped in today for the replacement........and guess what???? Power up the beast with my favorite Cd in hand ready for inserting.........I hear a strange whirring sound and then get the dreaded "err3" popping up.............on the new unit!!!! B*STA*DS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mega miffed and annoyed....I'll await feedback on Monday...just not prepared to wait 2 months again.
  2. You're right. The old site has closed down - its now a saab garage. Lex B'ham is now run by Sytner in Sutton Coldfield, it is they who I am delaing with.
  3. Got the dreaded err3 a couple of months ago in my 99 IS200. Called Lex B'ham who informed me my stereo was out of warranty by 2 weeks!! I was facing a bill of circa £500 for repair...I was gutted and pursued with Lex customer services who said they could do nothing. Eventually they agreed to fund 50% of the repair cost - I had no choice so I authorised the work. Whilst awaiting a replacement unit Lex B'ham called to say the unit would be reparied\replaced for free "as a gesture of goodwill". Great I thought...only to see other posts sugessesting this 5 year extension. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for not incurring any costs, but I just wonder how much of 'good gesture' this really is. Down side being.....I am still awaiting the replacement unit.....2 months on!!! I call Lex B'ham fortnightly each time to be told I am first on the waiting list and they cannot control the flow of the units. I have advertised my IS200 for sale (previous post explains why) and I must have the repaired unit fitted before a sale can be confirmed. Surely this is not good service, have others experienced such long delays for replacement stereos?
  4. Unfortunately my firm were recently taken over by a well known high street bank - I expected the worst and today it was confirmed. All my colleagues inc myself have been made redundant :tsktsk: Until I find a new job I have to plan ahead and do the unthinkable.......sell my beloved Lexus. This is a great forum and I'll cast an occasional (envious) eye over the latest topics. Rest assured, when sorted I'll be back!! Hopefully not too distant future. Anyhow, The car has been cherished hence its immaculate. '99 All usual equipment with Eagle F1 tyres all round. FLSH. MOT & Tax until 2004. 47k miles. £11,250 ono. Drop me a mail for any further required information.
  5. Having recently encountered the dreaded err3 on my stereo unit - I returned to local Lexus dealer who originally agreed to fund 50% of repair cost, as the stereo's 4 year warranty had just over run by 2 weeks. Dealer has called back since to announce he will fund full 100% of repair cost....great news! However want to understand whether this is dealer being very kind or whether the stereo warranty has been extended by Lexus to 5 years. Somebody recently suggested this may be the case on this forum. If anyone can confirm or hears similar please let us know. Need to know how grateful to be when collecting the repaired unit.
  6. Got the dreaded err3 about 3 weeks ago. Booked the car into Lexus Birmingham (I have a 99 T Is200 SE) - originally the dealer said it would be covered under warranty, and then called back later to confirm I had missed the warranty deadline (4 years for stereo) by 2 weeks!!! I took this up with Lexus customer services, who eventually agreed to fund 50% of the repair cost which was about £400. I reluctantly agreed as they wouldn't budge and I had no other choice. Got a call last week from Lex Brum (who have been very good about all this) saying that Lexus had agreed to fund 100% of repair cost....brilliant!! Have to wait a further 2 weeks for the unit though...doh! Which may confirm the 5 year extension mentioned in an earlier post.
  7. Got the dreaded err3 on Friday. I have a 99 T IS200 SE and assumed the warranty is out of date. Checked the forum and read about warranties on 99 model steroes having been extended for a further year. Called Lexus B'ham who have ordered a replacement to be fitted on the 23rd. Question: Do I get my jammed CDs back? I have about £40 worth jammed!
  8. Thanks all for kind words. The scum actually came in through the front door - the door was forced. However they never made a sound. I was only alerted by the fact that there was more light than normal in the hall area - They kept the front door open in case of a quick getaway. Apparently house break ins and car jacking are more common with this calibre of motor given the superior standard security - they need the keys!! A screwdriver won't suffice. Take care guys.
  9. Last night two intruders broke into my house with the sole intention of stealing the keys to my IS200 parked on the drive.......Main problem being, myself, my wife and child were in the lounge watching Coronation Street at the time!!!! I noticed in time and chased them off - they got away with my wallet and mobile phone instead......not a pleasant experience. The Police were very supportive, and stated immediately the target was my car keys. This was confirmed today when I called my mobile to be told by the scum "I only wanted your motor mate!!!!" - So that's Ok then! I just wish the b*stards come back!! It's got me thinking though. I really don't need this kind of attention especially in my home! I'm seriously considering selling the car. Many of you will see this as weak - and to some extent it is. However I can't have a motor which attracts such attention that thieves are willing to break into my home whilst my family are in it. Scum sucking parasites 1 Hard working honest bloke 0
  10. Is this dangerous? Does it settle down? Or do I need to take in for adjustment? Thanks.
  11. Hi all, Need some advice please: I have a Lexus IS200 SE Auto. When approaching a road junction (to turn left\right for example) and applying the brakes whilst simultaneously turning the steering wheel, I notice a knocking type of sound from beneath the car (towards the front of the vehicle). Braking effectively does not seem hindered. This has been the case since I've owned the car (about 2 months now). The car received a level 2 inspection shortly before me taking possession - The previous owner had this done at Lexus Birmingham). Any advice\ideas most appreciated. Thanks.
