  2. Firstly why did you change the water pump? was it leaking? or did you just follow the many posts on here that say change it with the timing/cambelt/. Water pump and cam belt are not related one to the other no need to change one because of the other. one can be changed with out even disturbing the other. i recently changed my water pump with out even removing the lower timing covers let alone removing the timing belt. i been a mechanic 21 ish years and never ever changed parts on the basis your there so you might as well. (especially as the water pumps about £80)

Secondly are you certain its the water pump leaking? as long as you cleaned the block and used sealer like you said you have theres no reason it should leak. think you have another leak not the water pump. THe water may be dripping of the pump but are you certain its not running from somewhere above or behind it.

Back to my first point, simple rule of thumb if it aint broke dont fix it. Its dealers that start these things of "ooo might as well change it while were in there" "would be a shame not to do it while its half out". why not chnage the covers while there off as well oh and a new crank pully to. Do you change your coils every time you change your plugs ?? why not, youve took them off might as well. If the parts are related and dependant on each other then yes change the lot. No point just changing a friction plate on a clutch. nopoint fitting a timing belt and not tensioners they need each other to work correctly so change as a set. But why people change the water pump with a timing belt is beyond me. not on the Is 200 anyway.

    l Iike this reply!!! :backofnet:

  3. Hi I tried to change my sat nav disc today, found the box, took the metal cover off and seen a black plastic cover. There's a plastic button that slides across but it just makes a whirring noise and doesn't do anything!

hi,press the same button inwards or one near it(if i am not wrong)and this should eject the disc, however make sure the bit that slides across is open and not closed enabling the disc to eject(hope this makes sense?)

As above did mine couple of weeks ago...open slide..push and hold until ejection!!

  4. Hi guys,

I am looking to buy the latest nav CD for Ireland, France and Spain for my 2001 IS200 sport.

Unfortunatly I don´t have the old CD to see the serial number but I did look in the boot and

on top of the CD box it said 86841-53021 (is this the serial??) the car is a previous GB import.

Do they still produce updated CDs for the older models??

Or does anyone know where to buy second hand ones even from a couple years ago.

    Much appreciate any help here,

    Thanks.

    I have one ......2003/2004 ver1

You're welcome to it, If you do, pm me you're address :luck:

If it's not wanted by GNZ, I'll have it! :)

  6. Hi All, recently became aware of a jangling noise from the rear of the Sportcross, no warning lamps on, looked around rear drive shafts and saw load sensor/ head lamp control bracket had broken leaving the unit flopping around.Lexus do not offer the bracket just the complete unit for £278 so I stripped it off and had the bracket MIG welded but now I have re assembled it the headlamp level warning lamp goes off when engine is started but then re lights and stays on after about 30 seconds, any suggestions how to cure this as I guess it would fail the MOT test.

    Thanks in advance and hope!

    Regards Tony

I had the very same problem found it dangling when being tracked...gotta be a design fault!!! otherwise never knew anything, had the bracket mended the same way (WELDED) ,plugged back in but unlike you ,no warning light..so ok there.. Try unplugging and replugging check wiring to plug might have broken when dangling if no joy there, you will get 15% to 20% off as a gold member!!!(just joined myself!!!)

hanks for that, wierd that no light shows when it is hanging off ! will try re connecting ,certain no damage has happened to wires.

If no damage to wires or sensor, the bracket may not be in the EXACT same orientation which defines "level", and can take the automatic control out of range. The headlamps should move up then down to the correct postion when switching on in auto. If they do this but if the "correct" position they settle into is too high or low, it suggest this is the problem. Tilting the sensor should make the headlamps move up and down.

The bracket only fits one way with no play in the 6mm holes, however you are probably right in your explanation about the orientation and automatic control..I can understand that if the switch spindle is not in the correct position when replacing the bracket ,there could be a levelling bias.

When I disconnected the plug the warning lamp came on in the dash, however every time I replaced the plug the warning lamp went out...So maybe a damaged SWITCH, Tony??????
