  1. the reviews on yahoo cars and msn cars don't seem to be that great (as is the way for all j-car reviews). tbh i don't quite know why they are reviewing them with uk roads in mind as these preview cars are either japanese or european, with the main complaint being the harsh ride. i'm sure lexus would revise the ride settings for each countries specific road conditions.

  2. I've notice a huge price hike on insurance as well for my IS200. Last year i paid around the £400 mark, then i got the renewal for £800 !!! Shopped around and the cheapest i got was for around 550. I struggled to find anyone that wanted to touch it, both got clean licenses and we don't live in a "bad area". It's only myself and my dad that use it, ok so its got coilovers on it but the £400 rise was crazy. It's either the insurance companies trying to recoup the payouts from the floods and snow or they are just taking the ****.

  3. I just had this on my is200. turned out it was my drivers side calliper. the piston seals had gone and it was sticking which was causing some strange vibrations under heavy braking. in the end i got both front callipers re-conditioned. now there is no brake judder.

  4. Interesting drive to and from work today. On the way to work the steering wheel started vibrating quiet harshly so i slowed right down and tootled off to work. Once at work i checked the tyres, pressure and looked if balancing weights had dropped off. Even checked the coilovers to see i could spot any leaks. On the way home the car did the same thing again. Once on the drive i took another look. Lets just say you could smell something wasn't right. Then i felt the heat coming off it and then i noticed it was smoking. For a quick test i poked the calliper with my finger (which was really hot) and then checked the the passenger side which was a lot cooler and not smoking.

What does this usually indicate ? Currently i'm making the assumption that i'll need new brakes up front. If i do is it worth just installing standard lexus stuff again or should i use it as an excuse to put on a bbk ?

  5. i dont work offshore, but i do go offshore every so often if that makes sense. health and safety is probably the no1 concern thesedays, mess up on that and it usually means end of story (on uk rigs. yank rigs are a different story from what i hear). bosiet is also required (basic offshore training) for uk, if you want to work on norwegian rigs you'll need another qualification. see this website for courses http://www.hota.org/training.aspx?section=1

like rikos said, the money is generally good. if you're single the 2wks on 2wks off rota is no problem or if you aint fussed about the missus.
